"When the boy in the hat sauntered into the high ceilinged, smoggy bar of the Students' Guild, Wylan knew immediately that he was not enrolled at Ketterdam University.
For starters, the stranger wore an outfit which could charitably be described as loud, and truthfully, as flash: an orange checkered jacket and waistcoat over a grey shirt, a loose mustard coloured cravat, and tight brown moleskin trousers with boots laced high. All this, and a leather greatcoat and a jaunty brown top hat.
Flash barely covered it, especially since Wylan, cradling a lonely pint of beer in a dim corner of the bar, could see a pair of pearl handled pistols nestled against the stranger's narrow hips."
