Kiri blinks, tilting her head in confusion. She can sense Neteyam doing the same even as he kneels beside her and Spider, almost absently running a soothing hand over his head.
Lo’ak and Spider’s confusion is made known more vocally, both making the same sound at the back of their throats.
The Olo'eyktan and Tashik exchange a look, communicating silently in the way she’s seen her parents do. The Tashik nods. The Olo'eyktan sighs and pronounces a sentence that will break Kiri’s understanding of the world.
“I’m Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk'itan, the Olo'eyktan of the Metkayina.” He raises his hands and Kiri cannot believe she missed that he had the same amount of fingers as she did. “It’s nice to see you, Dad.” -
