Unexpected news came from the headmage: He finally found a way to send Yuu home. Upon receiving such news Yuu was ecstatic. They're finally going home! Oh, how they dreamed of this day.. And now it was here!
As happy as they felt, they were hesitant to leave the people they've met and befriended behind like this. But they couldn't discard their old life like it didn't matter to them. Because it did matter.
Their first months in Twisted Wonderland were hard for them. Their only motivation was the hope of getting back home. Each night they dreamed of being in their bedroom and not this room from a dorm that felt like it was about to fall apart, reassured by the dream they were home until sunrise came and they were back in this dusty room.
Yuu ultimately decided that before going through the mirror that would send them back, they were going to let their friends know. And it was hard for both sides.
As much as everyone didn't want Yuu to go, they had to come to terms with their decision. After all, it would be selfish to not let them go, despite how much Yuu wants this.
Ace and Deuce slowly began to come to terms with the fact that Yuu was leaving soon, so they and the many other friends Yuu has made in their short stay decided to give them gifts, like a farewell gift.
Trinkets, photos, handmade things to even expensive things were given to Yuu, to remember the people they encountered and what change they brought in their temporary stay.
With bags full of gifts, Yuu made their way to the Mirror Chamber in the morning. They decided it'll be too hard for them and their friends if they were present on their departure.
Their heart was soaring, ecstatic to see their home again after months.
When they entered the Mirror Chamber, a loud shriek echoed the hallways. The mirror... was broken. Their way home was snatched right in front of their eyes.
Somebody shattered the mirror.
The mirror's glass was shattered in dozens of pieces that were now lying on the floor.
Who could've done this..?
Similar to the shattered glass, Yuu's hope, and heart was shattered. Their mind was racing and the world around them began spinning.
Why did they do this..??
They cried out, falling on their knees next to the broken glass of the mirror. They picked up a shard, looking at their reflection.
In a moment of desperation, Yuu hurriedly gathered all the shards in their hands, not bothering to care for the cuts in their hands.
Maybe...
The took a look at the pile of glass in their hands, the shards now getting coated in Yuu's blood, then looked at the mirror, the tears blurring their vision.
Maybe I can...I can fix it..
Now being irrational, Yuu gently put down the pile as if it were the most fragile thing in the world and leaving their bags in the Mirror Chamber, they ran to find something to glue the pieces together.
With the new found glimpse of hope, they ran through the hallways like a madman.
When they found some glue lying around in one of the clubs classrooms, they hurried back not caring that their legs were crying of exhaustion. They cannot rest until they finish what they had in mind.
Yuu spent hours figuring out which shard goes where and now finally done they looked in the mirror.
They only saw their tired disfigured reflection, blood dripping from their hands onto the floor from the open cuts.
It is not fair.
All Yuu had done all this time was help people. So why... why didn't they leave Yuu this one thing?
They plopped on the cold floor, tired and numb. What was the point in trying? What was the point in hoping?
Whoever had done this, they must really enjoy seeing me suffer, don't they?
They chuckled painfully. It was stupid of them to believe they could go home. Of course this wasn't going to be easy! Why would it be easy for them?
Yuu remained on the floor of the Mirror Chamber for a long time. They didn't feel the strength to get up anymore.
Somebody was watching Yuu's despair with regret. He began to regret his idea of destroying the mirror. As much as he wished to keep Yuu here, to keep his only friend with him, he only destroyed their friendship this way.
He knew he had to apologize, but that would make Yuu despise him. And he didn't want that.
He won't tell Yuu what he has done. He'll be by their side to comfort them.
Keeping the truth seemed the better option even though his heart felt heavy with remorse.
