New Hobbies

Summary:

Sebastian supports his wife's new hobby.

Notes:

An answer to day 8 of the 30 Day Writing Challenge ("Write about finding a new hobby") and also inspired by posts from my friends in the Sherlolly Is Love Facebook group, even if this isn't a Sherlolly fic. This was also directly inspired by a prompt from Dreamin ("'My standards are in space because of this man.' (Kelly Louise Killjoy about her husband after he goes out of his way to satisfy her pregnancy food cravings) Sebolly).

Work Text:

“Molly, is that a dead mouse?”

She nodded, not looking up at Sebastian. “Yup.”

“Taxidermy?” he asked.

“Yup.”

“And you’re...dressing it up?”

“New hobby,” she said.

“It’s not staying here, is it?”

“Nope,” she said, popping the P in the word. “I’m doing this for a friend. This was her pet mouse, you see. She raised it from a baby. And he died unexpectedly and she’s been heartbroken. So I offered to stuff him and dress him up in something cute.”

“Morbid.”

“I know, but it’s her way of coping. And its rather fun.” Then she looked u at him. “But if I continue with this, I’ll use felted mice, not dead ones. This is a one-time thing.”

“So you say.” He had a small smirk on his face as he said that.

“I swear! No more taxidermied mice, just felted. But...he does look cute, doesn’t he?”

“I suppose.”

“Good.” She finished what she was doing and the stood up, getting on her tiptoes, and leaned over to kiss his cheek. “Thanks for being supportive of your wife’s new hobby.”

“You’re supportive of my writing. Why wouldn’t I mind felted mice dressed up and posed?”

“I knew there was a reason I loved you so damn much.”
