Work Text:
“Molly, is that a dead mouse?”
She nodded, not looking up at Sebastian. “Yup.”
“Taxidermy?” he asked.
“Yup.”
“And you’re...dressing it up?”
“New hobby,” she said.
“It’s not staying here, is it?”
“Nope,” she said, popping the P in the word. “I’m doing this for a friend. This was her pet mouse, you see. She raised it from a baby. And he died unexpectedly and she’s been heartbroken. So I offered to stuff him and dress him up in something cute.”
“Morbid.”
“I know, but it’s her way of coping. And its rather fun.” Then she looked u at him. “But if I continue with this, I’ll use felted mice, not dead ones. This is a one-time thing.”
“So you say.” He had a small smirk on his face as he said that.
“I swear! No more taxidermied mice, just felted. But...he does look cute, doesn’t he?”
“I suppose.”
“Good.” She finished what she was doing and the stood up, getting on her tiptoes, and leaned over to kiss his cheek. “Thanks for being supportive of your wife’s new hobby.”
“You’re supportive of my writing. Why wouldn’t I mind felted mice dressed up and posed?”
“I knew there was a reason I loved you so damn much.”
