I look over to see Roxy, she is smiling as she rambles about anything that crosses her mind. Mostly drama with her friends and such.
All I can notice is the poorly bleached blonde hair she tried to get after she had her hair pink for months. It ended up going to a strawberry blonde tone.
She hates it, says it matches nothing she has. But I can't help but think she looks stunning with it. It compliments her skin tone so well, it brings out the pink in her eyes, and checks. I just love everything about her, she's the reason the world is so much more colorful, she makes the sky bluer and the trees and grass greener.
She snapped her fingers in my face "Yo earth to Crocker, hey girly you even listening to me!" She tilted her head, trying to make eye contact with me.
I smiled and chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of my neck. "Yes I am, you don't need to get spicy with me!" I blushed.
She didn't respond, they just stood up from where they were sitting, and started to brush some dirt off their knees, and the back of their pink skirt. Then she stretched her arms over her head, and sighed.
"Hey Rox, where are you going?" looking up to her confused, slightly scared she noticed me fawning over her.
"Jesus Jane, I'm getting something from the car. Don't get your granny panties in a twisted. I'll be back." She rolled her eyes, pushing my head back with her pointer finger.
I mumbled when she did that and playfully pushed her hand away, and she just put a L up to her head, sticking her tounge out. Then they extended their hands out and started to do a grabby motion. I put the dots together and assumed she wanted my keys, I reached into my pocket and felt the blue rabbit keychain she had gotten me, I pulled it out and handed it to her.
Then she waved her hand, and skipped down the hill. I just sat there watching them go down. I leaned back and turned over, I saw next to me her pink converse with hearts sketched onto them.
'Shot she must have forgotten to put them on.' I leaned back up and grabbed her shoes and started to wave them around.
"ROXY YOU FORGOT YOUR SHOES COME BACK HERE! DON'T BE WALKING AROUND BAREFOOT!"
She looked back and put their hands up, probably not caring. I started to wave them more aggressively, and with that they continued her way to my dad's car. Ignoring me.
I sighed, and layed back down. I looked over to where her shoes were, which was where she was sitting and saw an independent in the grass. I just imagined her there again, and just smiling looking at me. My heart starts to ache as I think of them.
They just are so amazing.. I can't believe I'm so lucky to have them as a friend. Yup just a friend nothing more... I look up, staring at the tree we have been laying under, it had white flowers blooming in it. I was losing myself to the sound of trees swaying in the wind, and the birds singing.
I was awakened to the smell of Roxy's cotton candy perfume, I opened my eyes and she was standing over me, her face inches from mine. I just froze, she just looked so extraordinary. Her light freckled checks, her checks which are naturally blushed.
She threw the keys on my chest which snaped me out of my trances "Hey Janey, I'm bored. Remember on the way coming here we saw a field of sunflowers? Can we drive there? It's a lot more pretty than this shitty place."
I pushed her away, my face heated like a burner. "Ya why not. Just put your shoes on! I don't need you getting your nice socks all dirty.``
She ignored my comment as she sat back down and put her shoes on. I grabbed the basket of sweets I brought for our outing. Then we headed off back to my dads car.
¨So why did you go back to the car?” I questioned her.
¨I thought i packed some of my moms white wine, but i'm pretty sure i left it at my house when you picked me up. Which suuucks¨ she sighed.
I laughed ¨It's fine. Lucky me, now you can drive us home after we head to the sun flower field.¨
She scoffed in responds. We just walked in the tranquility of nature until we had the car in our sights, they dramatically turned around her strawberry blonde hair shiny in the sun. She pushes me and spoke.
¨Tag you're it!¨ They turned back around and bolted it to the car, her shoes smacking against the dirt under her.
I Laughed "This is so unfair!" I tried to catch up but with the shoes I was wearing, and me holding the basket I had no luck. They had beat me by minutes.
She was there waiting, not so patiently. Tapping her foot on the ground leaning against my dad's car, the sun making her face glitter. I wanted to take a photo, but it would've been awkward. I just quickly took in her beauty.
¨Hehe, whoa Rox looks like you're the one who really lost?" I remarked.
They huffed and puffed and looked away like a kid "No I won, winners just have to wait for the losers. Should've taken the keys from you though."
I clicked the keys and the car unlocked and she hopped in, I walked around to the drivers side and slid into my seat. I handed her the basket and she placed it on the floor next to her feet.
I snapped my seatbelt in, she did the same. The car's radio is broken. Which pisses Roxy off. It bothered me when I was younger, because my dad used it to have ´father daughter time´. But now I don't mind, I would rather talk than listen to music, especially if i'm in the car with her.. Their voice sounds more ravishing than any tone in the word.
I started the car and backed out of the space I had parked in, I started off to where I remember the sunflower field being. She rolled down the window, leaned her back to the door with her feet on the seat, and their strawberry blonde hair flowing in the wind and started to talk. I couldn't really hear her, but it was enough so I could engage in whatever she was talking about.
"So Janney you know Calliope? Of Course you do. Well we've been talkin, ALOT. i´m really enjoying talking to them, and well our conversion has been getting kind of flirty. I think I'm falling in love with her." Roxy said, turning around looking out the window.
My heart had stopped, I tried to respond quickly and smoothly "S-she very sweet, you two would be such a cute couple." I looked over to her hiding the pain with a grin.
She turned around "Thanks Janely, you're the best. I don't tell you enough.."
They went back to talking about drama with Dirk and such. I couldn't hear her, the beat of my heart out wayed their elegant voice. I just couldn't get it out of my head, it keeps repeating ´I think i'm falling in love with her´. It hurts like a thousand bees stinging my chest. But if Calliemakes them happy, I want them to be with her. I just tried to keep my eyes on the road, and not crash.
I made it to the sunflower field and Roxy shouted ¨Hell yes! It's gorgeous."
She basically jumped out of the car while it was still moving. She had ran out taking it all in. I got out, holding the basket and she shouted my name.
"JANEY! COME ON CATCH UP IT'S AMAZING!" She said spinning in the flowers, her hair glistening in the sun, her face glowing with happiness. Her puffy off the shoulder top swaying in the wind. The bumble bees that had been in the sunflowers are now buzzing all around them. She looks like a Disney princess, I just keep admiring her. I just can't stop looking at them, I'm just so in love with everything about her. She's like a lamp and I'm the moth.
She ran up to me, and grabbed my free hand and intertwined her fingers with mine "come on Jane, let's go!" They looked back at me smiling, I just couldn't help but smile like an idiot, her pink eyes looking into my blue ones. I can feel my face heating up.
She started to drag me through the flower field, they were just giggling and talking about how amazing this place is. It felt like we had been walking for hours, but then she spotted a gate that was surrounded by different color sunflowers, she walked faster towards it and had found this clearing where a bench and two swings are. She gasped.
"OH MY GOD, SCORE!" She turned around happily "Janey Jane can you please, with a cherry on top push me?" Her pink eyes glimmering with excitement. My heart just ached, I can never say no to her.
"Yeah of course Rox." I smiled at her, then she ran over to the swings.
I went to the bench first, and sat the basket down on the table. Then I made my way over to where she was sitting. I went behind them and put my hands on her back and pushed. She started to laugh, I kept pushing them until she was covering the sun.
She shouted and turned her head to the side "HEY GET ON THE OTHER SWING!"
"OKAY!" I responded.
I looped around and got onto the other swing and started to push myself with my feet. It took me a bit longer to catch up to her, but I eventually did. We just started swinging and swinging, into the sun was on the horizon.
She reached her hand out over to me and I reached over to grab it, then they started to slow down and that caused me to as well. She looked over "That was so much fun, I haven't been on a swing in years!" She said leaning back in the swing, kicking her feet up and down.
"Ya same, I felt like a kiddo again." I giggled.
I got up and walked over to a sunflower that was next to her, she looked at me, watching as I moved "Hey Janey what are you doing?"
I didn't responds, and went to pick up this orange yellow sunflower I had spotted when we walked in. I came back to where she was still sitting, and brushed some hair away from her face, and placed the flower in their strawberry blonde hair. She just looked up at me and I looked down at her. We just stared at each other as the wind started to pick up, her hair waving back and forth. I took my chance, even if she doesn't respite my feelings, which she probably doesn't. I can't keep hiding them from them, it hurts me too much.
"Roxy, you've been my best friend for years, and you've made my life so much more colorful and beautiful. I just can't keep hiding my feelings for you, it hurts too much.. Roxanne Lalonde... I'm in love with you." I said looking at her, fidgeting my fingers. I had no idea how she would respond.
She just looked at me, I couldn't read her face. She stood up and separated my hands with hers, and then she grabbed them, they pulled me in and I felt her lips touch mine.
Her lips felt like flower petals and tasted like strawberries. My heart felt like it had grown wings and flew away. she just tightened her grip on my hands.
She pulled away and smiled "I love you too Crocker, I really do."
