Summary
Wei Ying had intentionally stacked her first day on the job and the matchmaker appointment so that she could get her nerves over and done with, and so she could be distracted until the appointment. Those aren’t points Lan Zhan needs to know, though. She looks up to wink at her, but finds Lan Zhan’s face has darkened considerably. From this close she can even get a slight whiff of the alpha’s disapproval. Something acrid.
All Lan Zhan says is, “I have noted your work ethic,” and turns to her station, dismissive.
Wei Ying’s jaw drops, but she quickly picks it back up in the shape of a smile. “Oh, you’ll see my work soon enough.”
