Work Header

We are all liars, cheaters, and thieves (we like to do as we please)

Summary:

Grian is up to something and Scar is going to find out.

Notes:

Hello!
I was in a discord messaging Storm the blueberry and Hawkwing, and I shared the idea of evil mercenary scar. They said go for it, so here I am. My muse decided to turn this into a series, so this is more of the set up to evil/vengeful mercenary Scar. I'm probably going to have one more "set up" story before we really get into the plot.
Have an awesome day,
Cat

Work Text:

Scar tried to ignore it. Grian's lying, his sneaking out, how he seemed both happier and crueler at the same time. Scar really did try to ignore it, content with the company of his precious Jellie pandas. Scar just couldn't ignore the smell of cookies that filled every corner of his and Grian's house. Now that made him suspicious. He and Grian didn't even like cookies, and now suddenly they are being baked 24/7? That made Scar uneasy. Scar was happy! Why should he upset his quiet, happy life over a hunch? Not even a hunch, but a thought. A stray, random little thought that Scar just couldn't cast to the side.

That night Scar pretended to fall asleep. He listened for the sound of the door squeaking shut, and Grian's footsteps as he walked out the door. Scar then got up, grabbed the bag of cookies Grian probably forgot to take, and followed Grian out the door, into the pitch black night. He followed Grian even when his feet started to hurt. Scar was in such a hurry to leave that he forgot to put on his shoes. Finally, they approached an empty little clearing in the middle of the woods. There was a man in the middle of the clearing. Scar hid behind a tree to watch, as Grian confidently strode forward.

"BigB! I missed you!" Grian exclaimed as he ran towards BigB.

"Waffles, it's only been a day since we last saw each other." BigB replied teasingly.

"Cookie, it felt like an eternity for me." Grian said dramatically, placing his hand over his heart.

"An eternity without me? That must have been horrible! Luckily, I made you some waffles to cheer you up!" BigB theatrically responded, as he brought out a tupperware full of syrup slathered waffles.

"Awwww you are so sweet, Cookie! I also made you something. I made you cookies! Wait. Where are the cookies? I could have sworn I brought them with me!" Grian said lovingly. Confused, Grian dug through the backpack that he carried everywhere. Suddenly, Scar emerged from his hiding place.

"Don't worry, Grian. I have brought the cookies." Scar said with a smile. A smile that had a hint of bitterness in it.

"Oooooooh cookies!" BigB said happily.

"Now is not the time, BigB." Grian and Scar said in almost perfect unison. They then glared at each other.

"How did you even find out about us, Scar?" Grian asked curiously.

"Oh, it isn't like you were very subtle. Why did you cheat on me?" Scar asked matter of factly. Scar seemed very calm, almost cheerful, but his eyes betrayed a fury that had never been seen before.

"BECAUSE I'M ME, SCAR! I mess up. I make stupid, dumb mistakes. I try my hardest, but I end up RUINING EVERYTHING!" Grian burst into tears, so BigB started to try to comfort him. Scar only looked on the scene before him coldly.

"You know, you didn't have to be so mean about it. I mean, look at poor Waffles. He's in tears. I hope you're happy." BigB said angrily to Scar. Grian just cried harder.

"You know what? I'm done. I'm done with Grian playing the victim all the time. Even when he is clearly in the wrong. I'm done with always being painted as an idiot. I'm done being the bad guy in our relationship. Grian, we're done. You want a bad guy? Fine. I'll be the bad guy in your twisted fairytale." Scar was irate. His fury was finally being released and it was terrifying.

"Scar, please! Don't do this to me. Don't do this to us. We have something special. Please don't throw it away over a mistake." Grian pleaded as tears streamed down his face.

"Is that all we ever were? A mistake? I can't believe you, Grian." BigB spoke up, sounding hurt.

"Cookie, I didn't mean it like that-" Grian said before being interrupted.

"How did you mean it then, Waffles?" BigB interrupted sharply. Scar clapped his hands loudly.

"Well this has been an absolutely lovely time, but I'm afraid I've got to go. By the way, Grian, I'm taking my stuff, burning our house down and moving in with the ranchers. Toodles!" Scar said cheerfully as he turned and walked away. BigB and Grian could only look on in shock.

(Scene change)

"Hello jolly ranchers! Mind if I stay for a bit? Grian cheated on me so I burnt our house down"

"I'm sorry. WHAT?!?"
