Playing Dangerous

Summary:

"Do you have a girl? I don't see a ring on your finger."

You try to make a move on someone you've liked for a while but it gets awkward.

Work Text:

And there he was, finally somewhere where no one was in the way.

After all of the pickup lines you've memorized you seem to have the confidence in ultimately telling him one.

You've had your eye on Leon ever since you bumped into him by accident when you were on the way to class. Seeing him up closed surely pumped the blood faster in your chest.

He picks up the soda can from the vending machine. His eyes locked with yours and that gave him a mini heart attack, almost dropping his drink onto the floor.. You almost killed the guy.

"Can I help you?" He was defensive and backed a step up away from you. He nearly thought you were crazy and that wasn't a good look on you.

"Do you have a girl? I don't see a ring on your finger."

The silent was so loud. Leon was speechless at the remark. He stared at you like a deer in headlights. Now that was one way to brighten the mood.

"That was so cheesy, I'm so sorry. I just like you. A lot." You said that last part quieter but he heard you clear. You waited for him to say something but it grew much awkward. If there were people around, you would be a shameful mess.

"You know, what? I should just go or else I'll be late. Sorry 'bout that." You point the direction behind you and turned to run away, but you felt his hand hold your wrist to pull you back.

"You don't have class at this time. Want one?" He gives you his charming smile, offering you his soda. It seemed like he wanted to have a chat with you since he didn't have anything to do.

After that awkward moment you had caused, you waste no time on accepting the drink from his hands.

You follow him to a nearby bench that had a calming atmosphere along with the sound of birds singing.

"That's my favorite song." He says.

"Huh?"

"The thing you told me. It's a part of a song. What, you forgot already?" He teased. "We don't have to mention that, I hate myself for that. I just wanted to talk to you without anyone around and I've screwed it up."

Your hands clench around the cold can. You felt humiliated. "I thought it was cute." He seemed genuine about it. He placed his hand on your shoulder and you looked back at him. There was no sign that he was lying to you.

"You mean it?"

"Of course I do. Don't say things like that about yourself." He was kind, way too kind. No wonder why every girl liked him. He looked good, inside and out.

"So, what's your answer to my question?" You raise your eyebrow and he lets out a laugh.

"I do, and she's sitting right next to me." He winked. Your face flushed at his flirtatious comment. "That's me, right?" You joked.

He hums with a nod. He gets up and prepares to leave but he has one more thing to do before leaving your sight. "Can I take you out for dinner sometime?"

Your heartbeat did a little dance. "Definitely."

The both of you exchanged contact information and he gives you one last look. "See you tomorrow, m'lady."

Well that went perfectly well. Now you were going out with your crush that started with a pick-up line.
