When the Green tears of the past fall

Summary:

It had been months since the Government was stopped and Right Hand Man was rescued, with things returning to normal for the Toppats Clan.

Though the scars of the past still exist for some.

Work Text:

Right Hand Man wasn't quite sure how long it had been since he was rescued from the Government, since his dear Reginald and the other Toppats were able to stop this supposed Toppat Killer that was running around while Right was incapacitated and put an end to a General too far gone in his quest for revenge, but it was too long for his liking.

Though things for the Toppats had returned to a sense of normalcy, the hallways of the Space Station were filled with the hustle and bustle of busy Toppats, Right included, and raids and heists were slowly becoming more common again now that it was safe to do so.

And as Right was checking in on some tasks he had to do for the day, he overheard a conversation Icepick and Bookie were having about something.

"The cheese we stole isn't just some old cheese, Icepick, it is historical, valuable cheese that will easily double in price when we sell it."

"It still feels bad that ol Muenster couldn't get to see the goods, he would've freaked out over the old cheese collection."

"I would rather not think about that Toppat Killer and what he did ever again. Now come on, we got a meeting to get to and I hate being even a minute late."

Right had to take a moment to wipe away tears that were falling from his right eye, confused on why he was crying...

...and why a great feeling of guilt had just hit him like a sack of bricks, like for the oddest reason, he was at fault for Frederick Muenster's demise.

Right was sure that he wasn't at fault, that he was incapacitated and kept hostage by the Government while their so called Toppat Killer weapon ran rampant, that Reginald wouldn't lie to him about something like that.

But then why would he feel these emotions and guilt from time to time, especially when he saw the sight red headphones for whatever reason...

"Right? Is there something wrong, love?"

Right's thoughts broke as he quickly wiped away his tears, composing himself quickly before turning to Reginald to answer.

"Nah, just a brief glitch from being offline for so long. I'm fine, Reg.

Let me just check in with Svensson about a heist later and we'll grab a much needed lunch date."

And just like that, Right was off, shaking away the emotions that gripped him just moments ago and hoping to distract himself for the rest of the day.

All Reginald could do was sigh, adjusting his eye patch as he headed to his office to drop off some paperwork.

It was hard lying to Right about certain events, to have his entire memory of his time as Green and the torture he went through by the Government erased.

But Reginald did it for what he believed was Right's own good, not wanting to have him live with the burden and guilt of having his fellow Toppats' blood on his hands.

Ever since Right was rescued and brought back home, Reginald swore that he alone would bear the sins of what the Government did, of what the weapon known as Green did to the Toppat Clan, not wanting his husband to have to atone for sins that weren't his to atone for.

And sure there would be some hiccups in Right's cybernetics from erasing months of memories, but Reginald was sure that those would hiccups would pass eventually, that soon they would return to a feeling of normalcy and that all of the chaos would be behind them.

However, Reginald also knew that things would never truly go back to being normal for anyone, especially for him and for Right. But Reginald was going to try to make it as normal as he could, for both of their sakes.

But while the wounds of the past would eventually heal, the scars left will always be there in it's own way.
