“Ah, home sweet home!”
Grabbing the keys from her girlfriend’s cloak, Tangle opened the door to her and Whisper’s shared home. Closing the door with her tail, the lemur headed to the kitchen, looking through the pantry and pulling out a microwavable bag of popcorn. While the lemur did that, the wolf sat at the start of the stairs.
Whisper’s ear flicked at the microwave door slam and hearing a ‘Sorry!’ from the kitchen. While the machine was making noise, Tangle ran upstairs and came back down just as fast with a few blankets. A few seconds later, and the lemur sat on the couch, bundled up in covers and popcorn on her lap.
“Hey, Whisper! Come over here!” Tangle called to her girlfriend, tapping the couch for her to sit on. The wolf stood up, but hesitated. The lemur gave her an odd look. “You okay?”
“I-I’m tired.. Sleepy..”
“That badnik attack wiped you out, huh?”
The wolf nodded as the lemur put a finger to her chin. “Well, can I watch Chao In Space 3 with the wisps?”
A flash of colors released from the wolf’s cloak, as the wisps flew into the blankets. Tangle giggled as Whisper headed upstairs. “We’ll try to stay quiet! Love ya!”
A quiet mumble of ‘love you, too’ was heard, making the lemur blush and smile happily.
Whisper headed to her guest bedroom, leaning her weapon against the wall. All the wolf could do was fall face first into her bed- just before getting comfortable as sleep took over her into the world of dreams…

The wolf groaned as she weakly got up. Looking around her surroundings, she was on a small hill, dull of color. The only color was on the town’s buildings and trail into it. The water around was an ink black. Walking into the town, Whisper let out a scoff. “Is the nightmare the Metal Virus again? It’s getting old..” She mumbled to herself.
At the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of brown. Taking a stance, her ear flicked at a noise behind her. Turning around slowly, she noticed a wolf. A small wolf with slightly ripped clothes, biscotti fur and blue eyes. “Are..Are you my mom..?”
Whisper blushed as she awkwardly shook her head. The small wolf let out an ‘Oh’ as she smiled. “Well, who are you then?”
The older wolf sat down meeting the young one’s eyes. “Well, I suppose I’m you. Few years in the future.”
The small wolf processed that and let out a squeal of excitement. “Whoa! I look awesome, look at this cool mask!” The small one grabbed Whisper’s mask, putting it on. The older wolf smiled at her younger self. How much she beamed with happiness. “What’s our future like?”
Oh.
Whisper took in a deep breath and exhaled. What would she say? Being the older of the two, she didn’t want to..scare the young one. Gulping, she started to speak. “It–It isn’t perfect. But we make it work. We meet people who care for us. We care for someone very deeply..”
The young wolf tilted her head in confusion and interest. “What are they like?”
“She–She’s a bit of an annoyance..but after a while, you’ll care for her and she’ll do the same.” Whisper muttered. Her young self giggled with a smile. A bright light started to glow everywhere as the wolf woke up.

Whisper blinked slowly as she took in the lemur right in front of her, along with her wisps. “Gah!” The wolf jumped up in shock, while Tangle also went back in fear. “Sorry, sorry, sorry! We heard you mumbling and came to see if you were okay..”
The wolf smiled as she brought the lemur into a hug, rubbing circles on her back. “Don’t worry about me, I’m okay.”
I’m okay.
