Summary
Pain is a complicated process- so is letting go; wisdom is a lesson to be learned along the way. Dean Winchester has a lot to learn about himself, whether he likes it or not. It turns out he’s not the only one. Dad’s kept him and his sister Sam on the road for years. At 16, Dean's basically an expert at leaving his problems behind town by town. By the time they hit Casey, Iowa, Dean’s ready for the same old story: dad’s drinking, Sam’s resistance to girly clothes, shoving down thoughts he shouldn’t be having about his non-female classmates…. That is, until an enigmatic teacher offers him the listening ear he’s never had. But should he trust it?
This is a story about the characters who ultimately become #teamfreewill. How they find each other, how they learn to navigate and overcome the systems that repeatedly fail them, and how they ultimately build better ones together. Along the way, they will encounter identity-shaping questions of gender and sexuality, power and resistance, and finding one’s place in the world.
