Work Text:
Hanbin stepped out of the rest room, and walked to his classroom. Until he was suddenly stopped by a hand on his jacket. "Hyung, where were you?"
He turned around to see the person he hoped he wouldn't run into. "Ah, Matthew-ah. Is something wrong?" He tried to feign ignorance on the worried look on Matthew's face. "Hyung, don't avoid the question. Where were you?" Matthew repeated, his hands moving to gently take Hanbin's face in his hands. Moving his face to the left and to the right to inspect if he had wounds. Hanbin tried to look away but Matthew knew that Hanbin would lie if he doesn't make eye contact.
Speaking of eye contact, the older's eyes are kind of puffy.
"I was in the rest room." Hanbin said, it was the truth, so he had no problem making eye contact with Matthew.
Matthew stared at him suspiciously when Hanbin gently removed Matthew's hands from his face. "See you later." And he was off without even waiting for a response.
Matthew went to his classes in a daze and not being able to focus in class. He took out a pen and paper, not for his notes, no. He's listing down reasons on why Hanbin might be sad.
Reasons why Hanbin-hyung is sad
1. Hao-hyung. It's either Hao-hyung knows or he's the reason.
2. School. School is a bitch.
3. He's stressed. Possible answer.
4. Me.
Matthew immediately erased the last one, he hasn't done anything bad to Hanbin, right? He stopped thinking about Hanbin and decided to focus on class. He can't maintain his ranking in school if he continues to not listen.
*•*•*•*•*
Matthew immediately made his way into Hanbin's classroom. When he didn't see him inside, he went in, dragged a chair and sat in front of Hao's desk. "Why's Hanbin-hyung sad?" He said, straight to the point.
"Hello to you too." Hao laughed, packing his things. "And I don't know why your boyfriend is sad. Shouldn't you know?" Matthew was about to say the usual 'he isn't my boyfriend!' when Hao waved Keita over, who was about to leave the classroom. "Hey! You thought you could leave and let me suffer alone? Come here, they're probably having a lover's quarrel."
Keita groaned before dragging a chair and sitting on Matthew's right. "So? Explain."
"Okay, so I was with Jiwoong-hyung—"
"Ughh" Matthew was cut off by Hao groaning. "Why? I didn't even say anything yet!" Matthew was weirded out, did he do something?
"You did, and as soon as Jiwoong-hyung was included, we know what happened." Keita explained, understanding what Hao meant.
"Huh? But I was just talking with Jiwoong-hyung, cause he said that he has a classmate who's interested in me, but I declined. But then the guy came in, tried to rizz me up, and failed in a funny way. Then he got embarrassed when Jiwoong-hyung laughed, left, and me and Jiwoong-hyung were just laughing about that! Then I waited for Hanbin-hyung to eat lunch together but he never came. So when Jiwoong-hyung left, I tried to find him and saw him come out of the rest room." Keita and Hao just listened, not butting in anymore. But Matthew found that action weird, considering that they usually butt in at any time.
"I went up to him and you know what he did? He called me 'Matthew-ah'! He never calls me that! I mean, he does, but not in such a serious tone! Then he said that he just came out of the rest room, said 'see you later' then left without even letting me say it back!" Matthew was breathing heavily, somehow letting the whole story come out in one or two breaths.
"Keita-yah, are you hearing this?"
"Yes, hyung. Matthew-ah, review what you just told us, then come back to us when you find out why."
Matthew just stared at them, dumbfounded. They stood up, patted his shoulder, said 'good luck' then left. Matthew sighed, before standing up and going out of the classroom, by the gates. He waited for Hanbin there, they always walk to the dorms together, so he waited.
'Is Hanbin-hyung going to the library today? Maybe a professor needed his help?' He thought, considering that he was taking really long. He checked his watch and all the students should have left by now. He looked up and saw Hanbin's friends. "Excuse me," He smiled, walking up to them. They all tensed up a bit, but it was probably nothing. "Have you seen Hanbin-hyung? I've been waiting for him but I can't find him anywhere." He continued smiling, hoping that they would stop being tense.
"Uh, I think he went to buy something or went back to the dorms." Gyuvin said, quite nervously. He might be lying, but he's also nervous all the time. Matthew just decided to believe him.
"Oh. I see, thank you." He bowed before leaving. He didn't know what was wrong with Hanbin. Did Matthew do something to him to make him avoid him? He waited a few more minutes by the gate before deciding to leave. 'If that's how Hanbin's acting, he'll receive that too.' He thought, heading back to the dorms.
And that was when the avoiding of both sides started.
They live in the same building, their doors right beside each others. Hanbin's classes start earlier, so he leaves early. Matthew's classes are later, but they end later too. Whenever they see each other in the hallways, Hanbin's gaze always avoids his, and Matthew's heart may have broke a bit whenever that happens.
They don't usually bump into each other at school, their classrooms are on different floors. They share some friends, but they rarely hang out all together on campus.
And when Keita and Hao wanted to hang out in a café, he told them everything.
"Yah, Matthew-ah. Are you sure that you should be avoiding Hanbin-ah?" Keita asked, he really doesn't want to be involved, but he just can't help it when he sees Matthew struggling so much. "You're avoiding Hanbin-ah?" Hao spat his drink out, when he told Matthew to think his words over, he didn't expect Matthew to avoid Hanbin back!
"Yeah, if he doesn't want to see me, then why should I try to see him?" Matthew ignores the pain in his chest when he thought of Hanbin ignoring him. (He also ignored the 'why the fuck are you so petty')
"Matthew-ah, let's do this," Hao sighed and pinched his forehead, "What did you do before lunch started?"
"I, uh, had class?" Matthew literally didn't understand where this was going. "After that."
Matthew thought about it for a bit, "Jiwoong-hyung's classmate confessed?"
"And then?"
"Hyungs, why are you asking me this? I already told you—"
"Oh for goodness sake, he likes you and got jealous!" What the hell? Who was that? They all looked at the direction where they heard the voice and saw Yujin and Ollie.
"Yujin-ah? What are you talking about? Hanbin-hyung doesn't like me that way." Matthew once again ignores how his heart ached at that. Though, maybe it was a different type of ache?
"Matthew-hyung. If you are so badly in denial, Ollie-hyung and I can list multiple reasons on why Hanbin-hyung likes you." Yujin said, taking a chair for Ollie. Letting him sit first before taking one for himself. (Matthew was guessing something, but he was focusing more on how Hanbin might like him.)
"Hah! You can try." Yujin took out his phone, going to his notes app. "Let me just number them so you know."
"I'll start cause I'm the smartest." Keita said, flipping his non-existent long hair. Obviously they all started arguing about how Keita isn't the smartest (he is) until a waiter came and asked if they could quiet down.
"Anyways, before you all rudely went against me," Hao rolled his eyes. "Hanbin-ah always puts you above himself." A tap on Yujin's phone.
"Okay and? He does that to everyone!" Matthew tried to reason. "Let me rephrase that, Hanbin-ah always puts you above everyone else." Keita said, sipping his coffee. He needed the energy to deal with his friend's bullshit.
"He doesn't!"
"Don't lie, Matthew-ah. In the swimming test, literally four people were drowning, including you. You were the farthest from him, but he still went to you first." Hao said, laughing a bit from the memory. "Oh, I remember that. Hanbin-hyung was right beside Taerae-hyung but he still went to Matthew-hyung first. Not gonna lie, he should've saved Taerae-hyung first cause he would die faster because of his mouth." Ollie said, grinning a bit when he saw Matthew's ears turn red.
"I was very salty from that. I was beside Matthew-ah, but he pushed me away! 'PUSHED' MATTHEW-AH PUSHED!" Keita was once again in his frustrated mode. Since his actions and words weren't directed to the two youngest, they laughed.
And then the cycle repeated itself. A reason, a tap on Yujin's phone, and actual memories and proof of it happening. All while Matthew realized how Hanbin likes him. Not the brotherly way he thought Hanbin was acting, but a dating, boyfriend, flirty whatever you call it kind of way.
"And that's all. Or at least all we can think of from the top of our heads." Yujin said, ending the cycle and showing Matthew his notes. "Hyung do you see this? 20 reasons. 20. Don't tell me you need more?"
"N-no." Matthew was burying his face into his hands in embarrassment. He can't believe he was dumb enough to not realize it. All his friends noticed yet he didn't? Someone please bury him.
"Okay so? What are you going to do now?" Ollie asked, curious to what Matthew would do. "I don't know. I'm not good with things like this." He sighed, letting his face fall on the table, facing Keita on his left. "Yes, that was very obvious." Hao laughed, before he ruffled Matthew's hair.
"We'll help if you promise not to do PDA when you guys get together." Keita said, making Yujin do fake vomit noises. "It's not even guaranteed that we'll end up together!" Matthew wailed, before sitting up with a yelp when Hao slapped his back. "Hyung!"
"Don't 'Hyung' me Matthew-ah. You like Hanbin, Hanbin likes you. It's as easy as that! Don't even think that you won't end up together."
Matthew's heart swelled at that, Hao is really his favorite hyung. (He isn't, it's obviously Hanbin.)
"Okay, so how about you start warming up to him instead? How long have you been ignoring him back?"
"A week."
"Damn, okay, uh. Yeah. Warm-up first."
*•*•*•*•*
"Hanbin-hyung!" Matthew ran to Hanbin's side. If he gets to Hanbin's side before he could run away, then Hanbin can't avoid him. "Seokmae-yah, do you need something?" Hanbin turned to him and smiled, offering Matthew a hand to hold since it was cold outside.
Matthew accepted it, but was a bit skeptical. Hanbin was acting normal. As if they never fought. Not really fought but like, you get it. "Let's go to school together." It wasn't a question, but it wasn't a demand. Matthew just wanted to see his reaction to that.
"Sure. Do you want to go back to the dorms? I can get you a hot pack and an extra jacket if you need?"
What the fuck. Who— why— how? What kind of sorcery is this? Why the fuck is he even nicer?
"Uh, no need, hyung. It's not that cold, plus I don't want to carry an extra jacket in school." He joked, swinging their hands. Hanbin laughed. "I can carry it for you, y'know. Tutting has helped my muscles a lot." He said, flexing his tutting skills.
"What muscles?" Hanbin laughed and just gripped Matthew's hand tighter. A while later he shoved their intertwined hands in his pocket, making Matthew a bit pink and mentally beat himself up for accepting Hanbin's hand.
Now that he was aware of their feelings, he was overthinking everything Hanbin does with him.
When can he tell Hanbin he knows?
*•*•*•*•*
"So? Is he still avoiding you?" Keita asked, giving Matthew the coffee he ordered. "Life is shit. Why do we live?" Matthew whined, falling his head on the table.
"Is it that bad?"
"No, it's not bad. It's good actually—"
"Then why the fuck you whining?"
"—But I don't understand what Hanbin-hyung wants." Matthew continued after Hao interrupted him.
"How so?"
Matthew explained everything that happened to him and Hanbin that morning. In detail. He needs more help than expected.
"Is Hanbin sick? Bipolar maybe?" Keita asked, turning to Hao. "I don't know. Why're you asking me?" Hao said, before taking out his phone.
"What are you doing?" Matthew asked, taking a peek on Hao's phone. "Searching google. Best app ever."
"Type 'What does it mean when your friend is ignoring you but after a week is suddenly nicer than before.'" Keita said, looking over Hao's shoulder to see the phone. "No, type 'what to do if you and your friend fought but then they're nicer to you?'"
"Dumbass, you didn't fight." Hao snorted, before looking up what Keita said.
We cannot find any sources relating to your question.
"Never mind. Worst app ever." Hao said, before searching up Matthew's question. When the same answer popped up, he groaned before closing his phone.
"We're hopeless." Keita groaned, thinking about what to do before he saw someone passing by.
"Ricky-ah, Kuanjui-hyung! Come here, come here." Keita said, ushering them over with his hand. "Hey, you need something?" Ricky asked, before dragging a chair and sitting down. Kuanjui doing the same.
"Yeah, so what will you do if your friend suddenly ignored you, but then after a week they're suddenly nicer?" Hao said, not so subtly holding Kuanjui's hand.
"Did you guys fight or?" Ricky asked, before looking down on their hands. "You guys seem to be doing great though."
"No, not for me. For Matthew-ah." Hao said, pointing a thumb towards Matthew.
"Oh. Is the friend Hanbin-hyung?" Kuanjui asked, laughing when he saw Matthew embarrassed.
"So it is. I assume you've talked to him already?" Ricky asked. And then Matthew filled them up on what has happened.
"Damn, wow, that's a lot." Kuanjui said, before thinking for a bit. "Why not just ask him why he was avoiding you?"
"But then he might ask me why I avoided him too!" Matthew reasoned. He wasn't good at talking to people in the first place. Why is life so hard?
"Communication is the key for relationships." Ricky said, before taking a look at his watch. "Kuanjui-hyung and I have to go now. Professor wants us to demonstrate a song to the class." Ricky said, standing up.
Before leaving, Ricky turned his head towards Hao. "No, hyung. We're performing two different songs, solo." Ricky reassured Hao before he could ask what the concept was. Kuanjui laughed before giving Hao a kiss to the cheek. Making the others cringe at the PDA.
Hao waved them off before Keita spoke. "We're trying to make Matthew-ah and Hanbin-ah get together at the cost of no PDA but you're doing it?" Hao rolled his eyes before laughing. "You guys didn't help me get with Rui-yah, so why must I spare your useless eyes from my love?" He said, suddenly switching to difficult words, laughing when Keita and Matthew stayed quiet for a bit, processing what he said in their brains. Perks of being good in Korean and saying big words to a Japanese and a Canadian.
"Fuck you." Keita sent Hao a middle finger after his brain processed what he said.
"Anyways, Matthew-ah, what are you going to do?" Keita asked, changing the topic. "Uh, I don't really know?"
"Just talk to him. Like what Ricky-ah said, communication is key to relationships." Hao said, before screaming at the roach that climbed onto him.
Keita slammed it down before turning towards Matthew. "Even if Hao-hyung is a wimp, he's right. You shouldn't even be scared! Hanbin-ah likes you, and you like him. It's just a small talk dude, you can do it."
Matthew sighed before standing up. "I should talk to him, yeah. Thanks, hyungs. You're my favorite. I have to go now, I still have class." Matthew stood up before going away. Laughing when they both simultaneously screamed, "WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE?"
Now, where is Hanbin?
*•*•*•*•*
Okay. New plan. Stall the talk for a week. Yes. He's not ready today. He's probably not ready next week too though. Yes. Next month.
"Seokmae-yah, it's raining! Where's your umbrella?"
Ah, yes. Hanbin just had to talk to him. "Oh, hyung. I forgot my umbrella." He sheepishly smiled, scratching the back of his head.
"Aiya, come here. My umbrella's big enough for two people." Hanbin said, opening his umbrella before extending a hand towards Matthew.
'Wait, did he say share? That means...close proximity, no? Shit, shit, shit. No, please. Not today. He's still nerved from the talk.' Matthew is currently going through a mental crisis, but Hanbin's dumb enough not to notice.
"Ah, no! It's okay hyung!" Matthew said, a bit too fast, waving his hands in a hurried way. "I can just take an umbrella! There's plenty over there—" Matthew looked towards the plastic umbrellas students can get, and just his luck. It was empty.
Hanbin laughed before he took Matthew's hand. "Come here, it's faster if we just go together."
Hand-holding, Matthew can do. But when they left the cover of the roof, Hanbin wrapped his arm around Matthew's waist. Pulling him closer so he won't get hit by the rain.
A hand around Matthew's waist, he cannot do.
"H-hyung?" Matthew unknowingly stuttered out, looking towards Hanbin's arm and blushed. His sleeves were rolled up, and his grip was strong. So of course, his muscles were shown. Damn you Hanbin for liking tutting.
"Yes, Matthew-ah?" Hanbin smiled when he saw Matthew turning pink. "U-uh, nothing, sorry." Hanbin just brushed off the unusual reaction and started walking. The rain was weak, so Hanbin started another conversation.
"Matthew-ah, are you doing something this weekend—"
"I like you!"
Oh. Well, uh. That was unintentional. And it seems that the talk is happening today.
Matthew immediately covered his mouth, his embarrassment making him pink. He's going to cry as soon as he gets home. What if his friends were wrong about Hanbin liking him and it's just how Hanbin acts to his friends? What if Hanbin gets disgusted and doesn't talk to him anymore? What if—
"I know."
Matthew swears his neck has never swung that fast to face someone ever.
"Y-you know?" Matthew cursed at himself for stuttering. But he couldn't stop his heart from beating really fast. Hanbin knows.
"Yeah, I know." Hanbin said, way too calmly. "How?"
Hanbin laughed at his shocked face before looking around, "Let's go to the café. We can talk it over some coffee." He said, leading them towards the café just around the corner.
Hanbin dusted off the rain on his umbrella when they came in, putting it in a rack before ordering. Matthew's heart swelled when Hanbin knew what he wanted without asking.
"So, uh. How do you know?" Matthew asked as soon as they sat down. Their sofa on opposite sides of the booth. "Hmm, how to say this?" Hanbin smiled and stalled, teasing Matthew.
"Hyung! Just say it!" Matthew said, reaching over the table to shake his shoulders. Hanbin laughed before removing Matthew's hands on his shoulders.
"Oh, wait. Why were you sad?" Matthew interrupted Hanbin. "Sad?"
"Yeah. Like, a few weeks ago, you just came out of the restroom and started avoiding me."
"Oh. I, uh. I got jealous." Hanbin sheepishly smiled, his head tilting down a bit in embarrassment. "Jealous?" Matthew repeated. Hanbin? The Sung Hanbin? Get jealous? Top 1 of the whole school? One of the best dancers? Basically School President Sung Hanbin? No way. No fucking way.
"Yeah, of Jiwoong-hyung." Hanbin explained. But after seeing Matthew still looking confused, he decided that he should explain properly. His pride be damned. He let go of Matthew's hands to better explain.
"I was going to your classroom to eat lunch together, but then I saw someone flirting with you. You were really red so I thought that you liked them back, but then Jiwoong-hyung bursted out laughing. And you laughed too. When the guy left, I watched you and Jiwoong-hyung for a while to see if I can come in." Hanbin sighed, not liking the fact that he's explaining why he got jealous.
"I may or may not have overreacted and just assumed that you liked him because of that." Hanbin looked away, an unconscious pout on his lips. His arms crossing on his chest. Matthew pretended he did not have the urge to kiss Hanbin and just tried to find out as much as possible.
"Ah, that was fine though! You had a reason. But, uh, I kind of avoided you too?" Matthew buried his face in his hands. This is so embarrassing. Everything is embarrassing at this point. Hanbin looked at Matthew questioningly, not understanding what Matthew means.
"It was a petty reason but uh, I mean like, you started avoiding me so I started avoiding you too. It's not that I wanted to avoid you, but I just thought that if I avoided you then you would think why I was avoiding you back and uh like. Ask me or make the first move. Wait, uh, not in that kind of first move! But I mean I wouldn't mind if you made that kind of first move considering I like you—"
Matthew stopped his rant with a gasp, making Hanbin confused. "Is something wrong, Seokmae-yah?"
"Do you like me?" Matthew asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He assumed Hanbin liked him back, but he hasn't actually said it.
"Matthew-ah. I literally just told you that I got jealous because I thought you liked Jiwoong-hyung. And I also avoided you for a week because of that." Hanbin deadpanned. Matthew still looked at him suspiciously. His face saying So? Do you like me or not? Yes or no question.
"Yes. I like you. I like Seok Matthew." Hanbin laughed after seeing Matthew's satisfied face.
"Satisfied, aren't you? Anyways, I found out because of Gyuvin-ah." Hanbin said, making Matthew question how Gyuvin found out.
"Gyuvin-ah?"
"Yeah. You talked to Yujin-ah and Ollie-yah right? Apparently they told Gyuvin-ah and then he told me. You shouldn't trust anyone from Yuehua dorms, they tell each other everything." Hanbin laughed. He laughed even harder when Matthew embarrassingly slid down on his sofa until he was under the table.
(Hanbin is almost a part of Yuehua dorms. He spends majority of his free time there than in his own dorm. He's 3/4 accepted there. Ricky complains about him not staying in his own dorm.)
"So you knew when I started talking to you?" Matthew asked from under the table, his face still buried in his hands.
"Yeah." Hanbin was in front of him now, slowly removing his hands from his face. When he succeeded, he smiled at Matthew. His dimples on full display. "But it doesn't really matter, yeah? You knew I liked you back then too. Yujin-ah and Ollie-yah wrote down reasons if I remember correctly." The younger laughed at the memory, "Did Gyuvin-ah tell you that too?"
Hanbin sat down on the ground, not letting go of Matthew's hands. He would've hugged Matthew too if it weren't for the thick pole imbedded into the ground, separating them both. "Yeah, Yujin-ah sent him the reasons and he showed it to me." Matthew laughed, flashbacks of the reasons and proof of them happening.
Hanbin smiled at the sight, letting go of the younger's hands and moving to beside Matthew. Giving him a side hug, "I really really like you."
Matthew smiled and tried to hug him back. Tried, because Hanbin won't let him turn to hug him back. So he just put a hand on Hanbin's arm and leaned closer towards him.
"Excuse me, here are your orders— GROSS!" Hanbin got shocked and jumped, his head hitting the table. He groaned from the pain before getting out and looking up at the waiter. "Hao-hyung?!"
His shock from seeing Hao made Matthew immediately crawl out of there too, shocked at seeing Hao. (Matthew rubbed the part of Hanbin's head which he hit.) "I swear I knew I should have stayed home." Hao mumbled, before giving them their orders and motioning for them to sit down on the one side of the booth.
"Why are you working here hyung?" Hanbin asked, still rubbing his head and sitting down, his other hand unconsciously flying to Matthew's thigh. This action made Hao cringe in disgust, "You're not supposed to be asking questions here, Hanbin-ah. But in case you forgot, Rui-yah works here and I just decided to help him today." Hao then glared at them both. "I swear when he's done with his shift I'm going for you." Hanbin doesn't know why but he felt a cold feeling on his neck. Like it had been sliced. The effect of Hao-hyung apparently.
As soon as Hao left, Hanbin looked at Matthew who seems to also feel the effect. He squeezed Matthew's thigh in reassurance, smiling when Matthew got out of the trance and snapped his head at him. Cute. "Hey, you okay? Don't mind Hao-hyung, he's probably not going to go for you, he'd never threaten you actually." Matthew looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the last part, but decided to not ask.
"Here's your coffee, extra sugar." Hanbin said, sliding the coffee towards Matthew. "We can leave when it's not raining anymore, preferably before Kuanjui-hyung's shift finishes." Matthew laughed before putting his hand on top of the hand on his thigh.
"Thanks, hyung." Matthew smiled, leaning closer towards Hanbin. Their face just inches apart, while their chests were right against each other. Hanbin swore that maybe Matthew could hear his heart. His ears were red too. And just when Hanbin was going to get closer too, Matthew cheekily kissed his cheek and laughed. "Were you expecting something?" He teasingly asked. Smiling when he noticed Hanbin's ears were red. "Just drink." Hanbin said, looking away. Matthew laughed, but still drank his coffee.
Lucky for them, the rain finished before Kuanjui's shift ended. Unlucky for them, they have classes tomorrow, so they will have to see Hao.
*•*•*•*•*
Well, that wasn't bad. Hao backed them up into a corner, made them spill everything, and then hugged them. Creepy seeing a Hao that hugs people that aren't Kuanjui, but still appreciated. Yujin, Ollie and Gyuvin got scolded by Hao who told them why they shouldn't have had showed Hanbin the reasons. A violation to privacy he says. Well, at least they accepted.
*•*•*•*•*
"Hanbin-hyung!" Matthew whisper-screamed. He entered Hanbin's room as quietly as he can. "Seokmae-yah." Hanbin whispered, closing the book he was reading and putting it by the nightstand. "Come here," The older pulled open his blanket, inviting the younger to sleep with him.
"Why'd you want me to come here?" Matthew asked after he was all settled comfortably on Hanbin's bed, cuddling the older as a little spoon.
"I can read you like a book. I know you're thinking of something, and I want to avoid another one week of avoiding." Hanbin joked, hopefully brightening up Matthew's mood so he could tell him.
When Matthew laughed, Hanbin asked again. "So? What's on your mind?" Hanbin hugged Matthew tighter, pulling him closer to send the message that he's there for him.
Matthew was quiet for a while, pondering on what to say. Hanbin noticed this and didn't say anything.
After a minute or so, Matthew asked "What are we?" Hanbin's eyebrows furrowed, before asking "What do you mean?"
"Are we dating? Boyfriends? Best friends? We established the fact that we like each other, but none of us have asked the other out yet." Matthew explained, turning around to face Hanbin and bury his head into his shoulder.
"Hey, hey, Seokmae-yah. It's fine to ask, y'know. You shouldn't be embarrassed." Hanbin said, rubbing slow circles on the younger's lower back. "And I actually thought we're already dating."
Matthew lifted his head up, staring at Hanbin while everything was registering in his brain. "We're dating?"
"Yeah. The day you confessed, we went to a café and I just assumed that that was our first date already." Hanbin blushed, closing his eyes in embarrassment. "Yeah that was kinda dumb. I should've made it clear—"
Hanbin was interrupted by a laugh. He looked down and saw Matthew smiling at him. "Sorry, hyungie. Please continue." Matthew said, holding back his laugh. Though, now it was Hanbin laughing. "Why're you laughing?" Matthew asked, "You're just really cute." Hanbin replied, leaning down to give Matthew a kiss on the forehead.
"Why were you laughing?" Hanbin asked, moving down to keep eye contact. "Cause we actually already had our first date and I didn't know. Hao-hyung crashed our first date too." Matthew said before suddenly having an idea.
He moved on top of Hanbin, making himself comfortable before turning off the lamp on the nightstand. Hanbin looked down on Matthew who's head was laying on his chest. “What’re you doing?” He asked, before relaxing and playing with Matthew’s hair. “I just want to hug you, is that bad?” Hanbin fixed the blanket on them, covering until Matthew’s shoulders. “No, just surprised.” Hanbin whispered, lowering his voice in case Matthew is falling asleep.
“Good night, hyung.” Matthew yawned, hugging Hanbin tighter. “Good night, Seokmae-yah.” Hanbin replied, closing his eyes while thanking all his stars for giving him a Matthew.
“HANBIN-AH! HELP!” Hao screamed, slamming the door open and closing it as fast but quietly as he can. “HELP PLEASE!” Hao jumped onto the bed, landing beside Hanbin.
“Oh, shit. Am I interrupting something?” Hao asked after seeing that apparently, there was a Matthew on top of Hanbin, under a blanket. “No, it’s fine. Hao-hyung what did you do?” Matthew asked, his voice slurry. “I may or may not have pissed off both Ricky-ah and Rui-yah.” Hao said, desperately trying to hide under the blanket. “Go talk to them hyung. Communication is key.” Matthew said, mocking Hao.
“Fuck you. Just go back to sleep, they won’t find me here—“
“ZHANG FUCKING HAO! GET THE FUCK OUT OF THAT BLANKET AND COME OUT!” Well shit. Hao’s a dead man. Ricky just slammed open the door, similar to Hao, while Kuanjui stopped in front of the bed and cursed at him.
“Hi, baby.” Hao said, desperation clear in his voice. “Don’t ‘Hi baby’ me you bitch. How dare you call us mid?!” Kuanjui said, ripping the blanket away from Hao, before dragging him out the room. “I’m literally going to start choking you.” Kuanjui said. “With your legs? I don’t mind.” Matthew heard Hao say after Ricky (politely?) closed the door. Hanbin winced when he heard a slap, “You thought that could save you? Go to the practice room, we’re not stopping until you fall and die.” Footsteps could be heard going away.
“What the,” Hanbin said, releasing a breath he didn’t know he was holding. “I did not know Kuanjui-hyung could make the final boss scared.” Matthew laughed at the comment, “Hm, just let Hao-hyung go. He called them mid, so he’s facing the consequences.” Matthew said, before snuggling into Hanbin again.
“Good night. For real this time.” Hanbin smiled, and hugged Matthew closer. “Good night.” Hanbin closed his eyes and counted sheep. As he’s about to fall asleep, he heard Matthew whisper “Warning, by the way. If you call me mid, you’re receiving the same fate as Hao-hyung.” And Matthew was a goner, already in deep sleep.
Hanbin wished he could sleep too. But that sent shivers and cold sweat.
