Summary
The dump of a saloon that you all found yourselves in was lively after a day of adventure and near death experiences (most of them experienced by the Stampede himself). Sitting in a corner booth away from the action, you and Nicholas were settled with a small plate of quickly cooling fries. In contrast to the surrounding atmosphere, you were completely sober. You couldn’t quite place the feeling, but you wanted to remember tonight. Maybe it was the way Meryl and Vash danced on the floor, or the way people cheered Vash’s name. Maybe it was the way Wolfwood kept shifting closer and closer as he settled uncomfortably into the booth.
Your head rested in your hands, elbows propped lazily on the slightly sticky surface. A draft of beer sat in front of Nico, but it was nearly untouched. He wasn’t drinking either, you noted.
