Eddie is still looking at him, eyes soft, a small smile tugging at his lips. He slowly nods, very slightly, it’s barely noticeable, “Maybe they weren't ready yet,” he suggests.
Buck lets out a choked breath, “I'm— uh, what? How?”
“I obviously don't know the show as well as you do, so correct me if I'm wrong,” Eddie thoughtfully says. “I think them dating other people at first is what they needed. It was good for them. They both needed to know— find what was good for them. They were trying to look for what they really wanted in life,” he drops his head against the back of the couch. “Turns out, it wasn't only each other, but it was in front of them the whole time, too. They weren’t ready yet. That’s all.”
“They are now, though.”
