The IT guy hates me

Summary:

Suna’s life as a Inarizaki S.A employee is pretty boring, until he meets Miya Osamu.
The problem: his attempts at flirting don’t go as he plans them.

Or: Suna Rintarou is bad at flirting and Miya Osamu too hot for his health.

Notes:

Hello writingbyfish!

First I must apologise because english is not my language, so I'm so sorry if there are mistakes, I hope you can still enjoy it :)

Also, thaks because when we were reasigned you were ok with an AU, even if probs wasn't what you asked for. I had this necesity to write an office AU since there is a huge lack of content, and i'm a 100% sure a big part of the fandom works in an office.

Also give my thanks to Regan for reading it and giving me their thoughts <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

[Miya Osamu: I went for a coffee]

[Miya Atsumu: Oh! Did you buy those chocolate doughnuts? The ones I love]

[Miya Osamu: No, and stay away from my desk. The thing is, guess who held the door for me?]

[Miya Atsumu: Do I look like I care? And you /did/ buy them. Don’t be a pig, share with your big brother or I’ll tell Kita-san]

[Miya Osamu: Funny u mention Kita-san. Bc he was the /one/. And smiling. Kita-san held the door for me sporting /smiling/]

[Miya Atsumu: HE DID /NOT/ Stop lying you dirty scrub!!!]

A floor above, hunching over the desk on his black office chair, Suna reads that Microsoft Teams conversation with amusement, although his face remains unbothered, as the perfect image of a hard working employee. He taps the table surface with his left hand fingers,  while the other rests on the mouse.

“God, they are so stupid” He mutters under his breath.

“Uh? Did you say something?” Komori, his co-worker who sits in the front desk, asks, peeking his head over the screen.

“Nope” Suna answers, popping the p.

It’s been almost two months since Suna started his new IT technician position at Inarizaki, I.S, and these messages are the only thing separating him from throwing himself in front of a car on his way to the office. The reason he took this job instead of all the other offers was that one of the tasks required going through emails and messages to make sure the employees don’t use it to chit chat or break the company’s ethics. Suna really thought his day would be spent in between juicy gossip, that he could later use for subtle mockery. However, the reality couldn’t be farther from that.

Here is a truth: people don’t use their company email to discuss their latest flirts or to trash talk about their bosses or co-workers.

Meaning: the job is dead boring.

Or at least it was. Everything changed once he met the Miyas, aka his daily basic entertainment, aka the dumbest people he has ever met, or e-met . Inarizaki is a big company and Suna hasn’t had the pleasure to see them in person, yet.

“Hey there,” says a man’s voice Suna doesn’t recognize. It is deep and strong but that is not motivation  enough to make him look at the stranger, his eyes glued to his phone. “My laptop is broken” The stranger says straight away.

“Have you opened a ticket?” Suna answers without putting much effort. It’s always the same, the employees skip the company's policies and jump right to him.

“Well, no, how am I supposed to if the thing is broken? Should I send a pigeon?”

Oh, he is trying to be funny, but that old joke won’t make an effect on Suna.

“Sorry, company policies. For any issue you need to open a ticket. Then, Support will be assigned to you…

“Or you could look at it now since I’m here. Ya’ busy?” He interrupts his speech, persistent, just Suna’s favorite kind of employee.

“Well, I’m not scrolling through Instagram, certainly.”

He is.

“I wouldn’t know, since yer slouch is blocking your phone screen” The person replies with a teasing tone. It makes Suna sigh with annoyance before he finally lifts his head to look at the person.

And oh god …

Suna doesn’t get wowed often, especially not at the office where people wear suits two sizes bigger and only go to him to make him work. In real life is pretty much the same, though, probably the last thing that caught his full attention was one of those "cats doing things" videos into which he has invested far too many hours for his liking. However, the man standing next to him, a cocky lopsided smile adorning his face matching with a raised eyebrow, does catch his attention.

In fact, Suna forgets how to talk.

“Hello?” The adonis waves a hand to catch Suna’s attention (unnecessarily, he already has it, all of it)

“Uh, yes” Suna embarrassingly manages to say, his voice a notch higher than usual. He breathes deep and slaps himself internally, he won’t make a fool of himself. He feels even tempted to wipe his mouth, fearing he has been drooling, but is able to restrain. “What is your problem?”

“My laptop is broken” He repeats, and Suna can’t tell from his blank expression if the man is bored or annoyed.

“I’ll be the one dictating that. Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

“Hm, suit yourself,” The too-good-looking-for-Suna’s-health man hums, then hands him the silver apparatus, a faint trace of smoke escaping from the bottom. Suna checks it, frowning, there are even some dark parts, the burn dark kind. “It’s fried” He adds, as if Suna couldn’t see it.

“Do not say. What happened? Did you spill water on it?” He questions, in all his 6 years working as an IT technician, never has an employee come to him carrying a laptop in that state.

“Sure not! You tell me what happened, and you also tell me there is a copy system or else I'm gonna jump right now from that window if I've lost all my docs.'' The distress makes his accent thicker and for some unknown reason, Suna finds it endearing. Enough to make him want to chase it more.

“The windows can’t be opened.”

“I’ll break the glass with my head first, then.”

Or he could use a chair, but it’s ok, Suna approves that ferocity.

“Haven’t you saved all the docs on drive? Everything that doesn't go to the share files needs to be save on drive"

Osamu blinks, not breaking eye contact with him and the straightest face, not saying a word, maybe thinking Suna is mocking him. And he might be doing so, but he is also not. He is only stating the rules. The other man stays quiet, not answering back, as if Suna hadn’t said the right words and was waiting for the ones he wanted. Well, Suna can also be nice, the Knight in shining armor for this man in distress. Maybe, he’d get a date out of this if he is nice enough.

"I'll have to work on it to see if it's still usable or if anything can be rescued. I'll lend you a spare one in the meantime, so you can keep working" He plays with a pen while explaining the next steps, moving it between his fingers.

"I need my files for that"

"Oh, the drive is on the cloud. You'll find no problem accessing  it"

"Drive, uh?" He raises his eyebrow and hums. The gesture could be mistaken for amusement for someone with no context, and clearly, it’s not.

"Yes, drive" Suna twists his lips sporting the purest smile possible, as if he couldn't witness how the pulsing vein in Osamu's neck was getting fatter by the moment. Then, Suna takes a form from the pile of papers inside his drawer and places it on the table, along with the pen he was playing with "You need to fill this document. Do it while I grab a spare laptop”

He doesn't wait for a response (either verbal or non-verbal) as he gets up from his chair without losing his hunch. He heads towards the white cupboards that cover the length of the wall. Midway, however, turns his head to the man bending on the table. His back is broader and toner than it seemed from the front, just the perfect size to hug him from behind and rest his head in between his blades, and don’t get him to talk about that butt…

Suna wets his lips to prevent himself from salivating, and whilst he grabs the laptop and walks back to his desk, he decides that he will get to use that butt as a pillow.

"Here, you log in with your user and usual password,” Suna explains. “there are no specific programs on it, only the basics as Microsoft Office or Paint, so let me know if you need anything specific in the meantime I prepare the new laptop”

"I can't find those specific things on the drive?" He uses his left hand fingers to make air quotes for the word "thing" while still bending, the left elbow supporting him against the desk and the right hand holding the pen he is using to complete the form.

“Ah… looks like we have a clown in the company”

“Yer talking about yerself?” The man says as he slams the pen on the paper. “Here, done. Ya have yer form and I’ll take this laptop with me”

“Perfect. I’ll reach out to you as soon as I have news”

He is not lying when he says as soon as he can, in any other circumstance, he would be in no rush fixing anything, however, on this particular occasion, Suna’s mind is already coming up with excuses to go talk to him in the next five minutes.

“ Good news” The adonis corrects him pointing at him with his index, face dead serious but for the raised eyebrows. “I’m Miya, by the way, nice to meet ya”

He says last before taking his way out, not realizing what those last words have done to Suna. Miya... Is he a Miya?? He nearly gasps out loud with surprise, he loses no time in flying to check the completed form, begging for him to not be Atsumu. For some particular reason he doesn't understand yet, Suna is relieved at seeing that big and perfectly shaped O at the beginning of his name.

"That was a Miya?” He voices out loud, as if still not believing it. Komori glares at him amused, not bothering to hide it even a bit.

“Yes, in flesh and bones. Why? Oh… oh ”

“ Oh what?”

“Oh, oh you have got the hots for him”

“I do not”

“Uh, uh. Of course not, of course not, for a moment I forgot I’m blind”

Komori doesn’t add anything else, albeit the smug doesn’t faint and Suna is not foolish enough to keep fighting, so he remains silent.

He has got the hots for a Miya… but Komori doesn't need to pray into it. Suna likes to gossip, not being the gossip.

Suna is not nervous, or so he tells himself, because admitting it would be too embarrassing, even if it is just to himself. Nervous because he is going to talk to a man, as if he was a teen fanboy, how pathetic. So no, Suna is super duper tranquil.

He has traveled from the 7th floor to the 8th, where the sales department is, to look for Osamu. This part of the office, new to his eyes, is pretty much the same as the one he is in. White desks, black chairs, and tall windows that cover the majority of walls while all the rest of the space is fully open, nothing blocking the view in between desks.

Suna looks around, trying to find a particular brunette head, but he has little success, so he stops to ask a random co-worker.

“Excuse me, where can I find Miya Osamu?”

“Over there,” The employee points with his finger somewhere in front of her” 5 rows of desks ahead”

“Thank you”

When Suna finally gets to the right spot, hands a bit sweaty and heart beating crazily in his throat, all his enthusiasm immediately sinks until it crashes against the wooden floor. Instead of the handsome man that stole his breath the other day, he is met with an okayish one but definitely not so appealing. Was he just that bored he got amazed by this ?

“Miya?” He asks tentatively, as if hoping to have mistaken him for someone else.

“Uh, yes?” He tilts his head lightly and moves his eyes from the computer to him, shooting another bullet right into Suna’s hopefulness. It's him. It’s him and the only feelings he awakens in his body is disappointment. Did he rush and come all the way here only for this? How lame. Is Suna's lack of sexual life toying with him?

“What have you done to your hair? It looks obnoxious” It’s what comes out of his mouth, while shaking his head, showing his dislike. At least he will turn the situation into a tease.

Osamu immediately covers his head with his hands, alarm flying though his full open eyes.

“What do ya mean what have I done to my hair? And what do ya’ mean by obnoxious?”

“Now it’s blonde?”

The disappointment suddenly stands up, almost making his chair fall in the process, and slams the table with flat hands, eyebrows completely borrowed. A trace of murder attempt flashing across his face.

“Wait a second. Are ya implying the scrub looks better than me???”

Suna can only blink at him, his eyebrows knitted manifesting his confusion. What scrub?

“Ya are mistaking me fer Samu and that’s outrageous,” He clarifies, noticing the weird glare Suna was giving him. His pitch is even more obnoxious than his hair and the accent comes so strong that it is difficult to understand him.

Mistaking him for Osamu? Does that mean he is not Osamu? Is he the other idiot, Atsumu? Again, for an understandable reason, Suna feels relief in that, if the man in front of him is not the one he felt attracted to that means there is still hope it wasn’t a misunderstanding born from boredom and he still can get his date.

“You are not Osamu” He doesn’t ask, he says it as a fact. Realization cascading through him.

“It’s pretty obvious I am not. Do you have sight problems?”

Then, before Suna is able to make a comeback, as if he had been summoned, Osamu appears in the front aisle, and he walks towards them wearing the smuggest grin, most certainly directed to his brother. Twin, Suna can say now. That is the right one, the rate of his heartbeat can confirm it.

“Guess what, scrub. Kita-san is thrilled with my last sale… Oh! The IT guy, have ya come to give me the good news ?”

Maybe it is because Osamu is looking straight into his eyes, or maybe it is because he hasn’t eaten more than a single biscuit in the whole morning and his brain is short in sugar, but Suna is about to tell him that yes, that he has done all he was able to, put in use all his years of being a student and a worker, to save each and every one of Osamu’s files. Luckily for him, Atsumu saves him from that embarrassment with that big mouth he seems he has been born with.

“He thought I was you” He whines like a big baby.

“It happens all the time, Tsumu, why are you making a fuss?”

“You two look identical, what’s so difficult for your brain to understand that this mistake happened?” He manages to say and pats himself internally for not losing all his sassiness.

To be truthful, they are most certainly not, because Osamu is probably the hottest man he has ever seen, while Atsumu… well, he is handsome, of course, but the attractiveness is different. Pretty evident taking his disappointment from earlier. Not that Suna is going to admit that out loud, of course.

“Wait. What ya’ mean by identical?” Osamu looks from Atsumu to him, mouth shaped in a little o.

“He even called me obnoxious blonde”

“That ya’ are”

“I am not. And ya’ look stupid”

“This is our natural color”

“It’s not the color, is the style, or rather, the lack of it”

Suna witnesses the scene in front of him amused, after weeks of reading them online, being able to hear an argument in person is an amazing upgrade. He should ask for a change of desk place and attend that circus every day (and glare at Osamu freely). His life would improve a great deal.

“Please, continue, do not stop on my behalf. I am not in any rush to go back to do my job” Suna says, his tone might be sarcastic but it’s the pure truth.

“Well, ya know what? I don’t care. I’m off to see Kita-san, he is waiting for me”

He remarks petulantly the last word, making sure they get who Kita-san is waiting for, then throws daggers through his eyes directed at him before walking off, hitting his twin in the way. Osamu growls following suit with eyes, reminding Suna the barreal they always have over Kita-san’s praise and making him snort. That faint noise seems to catch Osamu’s attention, turning his head towards him, pursing his lips with wonder in them, Suna shrugs his shoulders.

“So…? What’s yer name?”

“Suna, Suna Rintarou”

“Cool. So, Sunarin, do you have my docs, all and each one of them?”

“I have your new laptop” He answers instead, handing him the new silver HP he had been holding under his arm the whole time. Relieved at the loss of weight. “Is the exact same model as your prior…”

“Yeah, yeah, but what about all my documents?” Osamu interrupts him to repeat the question, his voice aggravated.

“No” He answers, not offering more explanation.

“No? Ya are killing me here, Sunarin” Osamu grins, fake and wide, begging with all his face. “Be nice and tell me you are joking”

Suna remains silent, taking his sweet time to answer prosperously, only slowly blinking before mimicking Osamu’s fake happy smile and saying the next words.

“I’m joking” He drags every letter.

“You are being sarcastic”

“Congratulations on your perceptive skills. Your laptop was fried, it didn’t even switch on”

Osamu shakes his head, breathing deeply, then letting go the biggest and most dramatic sight.

“Then, Suna Rintarou, it has been nice meeting ya” He declares, not a trace of emotion in his face, then makes a beeline to the windows. Suna almost takes pity on him and confesses that he has been able to save all the intern memory, but that would spoil all the fun so he is going to let him panic for a bit more, since this dramatic spectacle is the best thing that has happened in his day.

“In case you are wondering, I’m heading to jump from the window” He says, turning his head midway, crystal clear he is crying for Suna to stop him.

“I already told you the windows won’t open”

Suna follows suit with eyes, Osamu’s futile attempt to force the glass open, he watches him amused, sentiment that doesn’t betray his bored expression.

“You could have made me really happy, Sunarin”

That is something that Suna would like very much, to learn the depths of Miya Osamu, the treats to his heart and tricks of his body. What touches get him to moan and what gestures to smile. The news of his saved files would grant him the latter for sure, nevertheless, the more he suffers the more he would feel thankful once he finds them and Suna is confident that when that happens, Osamu will see him as his hero and ask him out.

[Miya Osamu: you could have said it from the beginning. I hope you had fun making me cry?]

[Suna Rintarou: witnessing your dramatic suicidal attempt? Best thing of my day. Give me a heads up if you try another ;) ]

[Miya Osamu: not anytime soon

He laughs under his breath at the capture showing the drive full of folders.

Usually, Suna takes his lunch break late, that much that he questions if it should be switched to early dinner. He has never been much of an eater, though that is not the reason behind eating at such hours. Is a strategy thought coldly and done with the sole purpose to avoid people. At this late time few are the employees that occupy the lunchroom and most of them are almost finishing. Meaning he gets solitude and peace. Least for when Komori joins him, those occasions are rare and in between since his coworker has the innerclock of a baby and needs to be fed ealy. Nevertheless, Suna doesn’t mind his company, he always provides good gossip.

He takes his usual spot on the table near the windows, and when he is setting his bento and chopsticks, he feels a presence sitting in front of him. Suna curses under his breath before even lifting his head to see who dares to ruin his lunch by imposing his person on him.

“Ya’ okay there, Sunarin?”

He is about to use sarcasm to subtly complain, when hearing that voice makes Suna freeze on the spot, that accent, that nickname can only belong to one person. A persona he doesn't want to scare away and make him move to another table. Without realizing, Suna’s hand grabs the table edge so hard that his knuckles start turning white. Fighting to keep his face straight, he lifts his head and god lord he looks sexier than the other day, wearing a baby blue shirt fitting him in all the right places and a tie that he is losing a bit at the moment, making him more appetizing than his food.

He clears his throat, making sure his voice won't break, before opening the mouth and giving himself away.

“Miya, right?” He pretends to not remember when he has already stalked all his social media, but hey, he needs to play it cool.

“Osamu. It gets confusing when you have a twin” He doesn’t pay much attention to Suna as he speaks. All his focus is on his task of gathering up his… 3 bentos? Very calmly, opens two of them and aligns them properly in front of him, then pours soy sauce into a little bowl, amazing Suna not only because of how over the top it’s the set up, but peeking at the inside of the contenders the food also looks restaurant level delicious.

“Itadakimasu” Osamu says lastly with both palms glued together and closed eyes.

Suna doesn’t answer back, too hypnotized while staring at the spread of food in front of him, and probably salivating a bit, too, and that might be the reason for not realizing how Osamu’s eyes have gone wide open, alarmed, until the other practically yells at him.

“What in hell is that!!??”

“What? What is what?” Suna asks, confused and partly startled, looking both sides and around the table trying to find something strange.

“Yer food! That’s all ya’ gonna eat??”

Oh, it’s that … lame, he should have known better than to get alarmed by a Miya. Suna, as 9 out of 10 times, has brought a take out bento from his around the corner konbini shop. It might not be fancy, but it’s decent and also cheap, since he always buys them on sale before closing time. He can cook, perhaps for survival mostly, but he is decent enough, it’s just that he’d rather spend his time doing something else, anything else. So he shrugs it off as if it wasn’t a big deal, because it is not.

The appeal of Osamu’s food makes him a little envious, though.

“Not everybody lives with their parents” He adds while taking a bite. Great, now his always okayish tamagoyaki tastes plain.

“Excuse me, but if by any sorts you are insinuating that I am not able to cook these , you are very wrong. I’ve prepared them with my very own hands and talented skills.” Osamu moves both hands a few inches away from Suna's face and makes his finger dance in the air, Suna shoves them away with his forearm. “I could open up my own restaurant and I’d kill it.”

“Sure, if you put your brother in sales” He can't avoid the smirk that curves his lips teasingly at saying that

“Glad to see ya haven’t lost your jester side” He sticks his tongue out. “I shouldn’t offer after this offense, however, ya’ want some?”

Osamu leans the bento in his direction, showing some perfectly rolled tamagoyaki, tempura vegetables, rice, marinated tofu… and more that Suna doesn't want to keep looking at or else he will end up begging for some. Suna, with all of the willingness he can gather in his lazy body, dismisses the offer with a shake of his head, very tempted to take it up, it’d feel too intimate, though, and he is not ready for that kind of butterflies.

“Do you usually have lunch at this hour?” Suna inquires, fully aware that he doesn't, he’d have noticed otherwise, but he can’t just go and admit that out loud.

“These are starving hours, Sunarin, of course not. I had a meeting today with some clients, big ones, so I had to delay my lunch. I Thought I was gonna faint “He talks through a filled mouth, it should be disgusting and messy, but somehow he manages to remain clean. “What’s yer excuse?”

Well, he can’t just go on and confess the truth, that he doesn’t like people, Osamu might take the wrong idea and think he is disturbing him, that would scare away any opportunity or future lunches.

“I’m not much of an eater” Suna settles up for answering, it is not entirely a lie, at the end his appetite is limited.

“With that kind of food anybody wouldn’t be'' He glares at Suna for some seconds, not in a bad way, neither good, just neutral, finally sights, letting go the air with a lot of sentiment as he straightens the arm to take the closed/remaining bento, it’s more little than the other two. Suna follows the action with peering eyes, until the inside of the bento shows a size bigger than the usual Dorayaki. “Take half”

Words leave his body, there is something endearing about Osamu offering him half of his dorayaki in such a way, as if he couldn’t let that bento be Suna’s only meal. He wants to smile, thankfully with some effort and years of practice he avoids breaking his resting bitch face. What he can’t stop whatsoever is start sweating, not since he feels 20 degrees celsius warmer than usual.

“No” It might sound harsh, but he doesn’t trust his voice saying more.

“Fer crying out loud, just take it, I’ve made them myself”

Of course he has made it himself, Suna doesn’t have it in him to keep rejecting Osamu’s offer, and neither does his stomach. When he raises a shaking hand to take the half dorayaki, his eyes meet such a pleased grin on Osamu's face that he can’t help the warmth overpowering his body and the quiet thank you that escapes his lips.

Missions are those goals people set to get disappointed later, when they are not reached. That’s the reason behind Suna’s simple life: get a degree, get a job, keep the house clean, do not eat more than 2 chuupets per day (he fails at that more often than not), update his cat’s instagram account daily… those are easy goals. Have Miya sexy Osamu ask him out? That’s a big call for disappointment to come knocking at his door. Is he ready to open that door? Yep.

There is a law that Suna always follows as his MO: to make the least effort and make the others do the most. He plants the seed and lets the others water it. It is a game in which he excels at playing, since he has had a whole life to perfect it, one could call him a master of the art. And he has a plan to get what he wants now.

To make himself be seen by Osamu.

Luckily his position is perfect to have the upper hand between them. Is he going to feel remorse for taking advantage of it? Not in the slightest.

[Suna Rintarou: you need to sign the supporting document, to have evidence you received the new laptop]

[Miya Osamu: I already did]

He did not, Suna well knows because he didn’t give it to him, on purpose.

[Suna Rintarou: that one was for the spare laptop]

[Miya Osamu: Ok. Send it to me]

[Suna Rintarou: I need the original. Come here to sign it]

A fat lie, not only they absolutely do not need the original, it’s encouraged to make employees sign any doc using digital signatures (a policy that Suna is deeply fond of, the last he wants is to have people coming to him and to archive papers, too bothersome). Osamu doesn’t need to be aware of that, though.

He makes himself look busy while waiting, and it doesn't escape to him the entertainment in Komori’s glare, but he pays no mind. It’s quite obvious what his coworker is thinking, however Suna is not part of the circus, he won’t provide the gossip.

Well, he does so, just not when he is the gossip.

“Are you, my dear friend, talking to Miya Osamu, by any chance?” Komori asks, supporting his jaw in his fist, a smirk on his lips.

“Would you want me to?” He doesn’t bother raising his head.

“Oh, yes, the glow in your eyes is a precious sight to witness”

Suna acts unbothered, not losing his deadpan for a single second, Osamu could cross the corner and appear at his side at any moment, and he is going to meet Suna cool and focused, already forgotten that someone was paying a visit, and not Komori and him fighting over a glow .

“Do you think it can be conjunctivitis?”

“Crushitis, I think it’s called”

“Never heard of it, is it serious?”

“Depending on the person, there are cases where it turns the subject into an idiot”

Before he can bite back, the subject of the fight appears from across the aisle, all glorious and handsome as if he was the protagonist of a catwalk, making Suna choke on his reply.

“See, it’s already too late for you”

There are times where being tall is a nuisance, like for the short space in plane seats or when his feet are left exposed under a not long enough blanket, however, in this kind of situation being able to straighten one leg and kick Komori, it’s a blessing. He does it whilst tilting his head to move his eyes from him to Osamu.

“Hello, Osamu” He greets first, a huge hint for the twin.

“Sunarin, Sunarin” There is a trace of something Suna can’t decipher tangled with the singsong. “What’s so important that requires me in flesh and bones?”

“Hey, Osamu.” Komori is faster than him and pokes his nose into their business, all smiles an innocence, Suna steps on him, not trusting a bit that face. “Nice shirt, is it new?”

“Yeah?” He moves his torso, flexing his arms, making the cloth seem a size smaller. Suna bites his inner lip to not melt then and there, the sudden warmth on his nape can’t be helped, though, and prays to all the gods he doesn’t believe in for his face to remain white. “I stole it from Tsumu, I fill it more, I think it was mine in the first place, tho”

“Definitely, it suits your arms, right, Suna?” Komori asks it casually, as if the question wasn’t a bomb directed to destabilize Suna, and is not like he can afford to choke on his own saliva again, so he shrugs his way out, the personification of indifference. “See, they have left him speechless”

Suna attacks again, this time stepping on Komiri’s foot, adding so much pressure that feels like he is going to crush it, wishing tomorrow he’ll come to the office using crutches. Suna glares at his screen, not daring to move his eyes, typing calmly, with the restfulness he doesn’t have at the moment. God, he wants to stare at Osamu so badly.

“I’m not sure, Atsumu looks beefier” If he bites his tongue, he’d die poisoned for such a lie.

“Excuse me?? Ya’ might be mistaking us, it wouldn't be the first time.”

“If that lets you sleep at night”

Finally he turns his head, just to meet Osamu pouting, and damn it if he is too cute for his weakness. Those arms in the same body as that pout should be illegal, the god of compassion needs to pay him a visit and fix this before Suna blurts out his true thoughts exposing himself.

“You are breaking my heart here, Sunarin”

“Are you always this dramatic?” He moves using the wheelchair to grab the checklist from the printer.

“Only with you” Winks at him, straightening to reach one of the pens that are on the opposite side of the desk, completely invading Suna’s space. The perfume that he is only able to smell because of how close they are, intoxicates him, leaving his nostrils senses dead for anything else. Suna takes a deep breath, eyes ajar, inhaling as much as possible. He is almost tempted to pass an arm around his waist and pin him there. That image would hunt him at night, Suna is sure.

“There ya’ go, Sunarin, signed it with my own hand. Now you can rest in peace” He says, placing the piece of paper on his keyboard, although he keeps the pen.

“He’d rather rest somewhere else” Komori breaks through their conversation, again. His eyes squeezed as evidence of how much he is enjoying the situation. “I have some places in mind”

“Yeah? Like where?” Osamu asks, although he is not looking at his college, his eyes are on Suna. And there is something so intense reflecting in them, that makes Suna’s stomach twist.

“My house, alone, hearing nothing. Silence is a good noise, don’t you agree?”

Osumu keeps glaring at him for some seconds without saying a single word, until he sighs and moves his eyes away. That something he had catched gone.

“I was born with Tsumu, silence is not in my dictionary” He jokes, although if Suna had to bet he’d say the laugh doesn’t reach his face. Nonetheless, he doesn’t know him enough to be sure. “See ya around, Sunarin. Komori”

Osamu waves goodbye with his back already to them, Suna can’t bring himself to say bye in time, only able to follow those broad shoulders with his eyes. He stares some more seconds at the empty space where he disappeared. When he moves his head, he meets Komori’s smirk, he ignores him and starts typing whatever.

“If you have something to say, keep it to yourself”

“I’m not really good at keeping things encaged, I was raised in an open family”

“It’s always a good moment to start”

“Do you want to know what is a good moment for, too? Ask Osamu out”

“I don’t ask people out, too much trouble”

“Yeah, because coming up with excuses to make him come to you is less trouble”

“You said it, not me”

“Listen up, because I’m the nicest person on earth, I’m going to warn you about something” Komori pauses before saying the rest, probably a failed attempt to create anticipation. “The Miyas are dumb, well, maybe not dumb, but they weren’t born to follow hints or subtlety. If your goal is to make him be the one asking out, be more obvious”

“Uh, and here I thought I was being ridiculously obvious” He says sarcastically .

There might be a tiny part of truth in what Komori told Suna yesterday, he ought to be bolder, if he wants to lead the ship to safe harbor. He can’t risk failure, the image of those damn arms pinning him against the mattress (or a sofa, table… Suna is not picky) is fuel enough to make him move, and the cute smile is the top cherry at the end.

And that is the reason behind Suna marching, on this fine day, towards Osamu’s office zone, instead of making him come to his. It definitely is a crystal clear giveaway, why else would Suna move his lazy ass for a fake request, a more than evident fake request, if you ask him. There is no room for failure.

This time he goes straight to Osamu’s desk, no need to wander around since he already knows where he sits. He is not on his desk, but on his foot, leaning against his brother’s one, supporting himself on the edge with his right hip.

Like a shark smelling blood, Osamu turns his head the second he appears in the scene, spotting him. He directs at him a lopsided smile.

“If it ain't Sunarin” His tone is blank, and he takes both arms behind his head, adding that casual posture to his flat greeting.

“Sunarin” Atsumu speaks up before he can greet Osamu back, and for the first time, Suna pays attention to him. His eyes are narrowed and his lips pursed, almost breaking into a grin. He looks exactly like the guy who is going to tell the teacher you are using the phone in class and Suna doesn’t like it one bit. “Looking for Osamu again? I’m gonna start thinking ya’ have a crush on him, Suna-rin ”

Yep, definitely the annoying kid, so much that even though he is helping him by making Osamu open his eyes and realize Suna’s true intentions, he doesn't feel like letting Atsumu win. If only he wouldn't be outing himself, Suna’d use all the stupid shit he has against Miya Atsumu, neither because Osamu is part of all of it. He should have asked Osamu to go to him again, this is what happens when you are the one throwing the bait, that you fish the obnoxious twin. Plus, the reason he made up is stupid, lamely stupid, he doesn’t want to be catched by Atsumu, of all people. Suna is better than that.

“If you think I’ll fall for your face” He mischievously says, which awakes a series of cries and whines.

He ignores Atsumu, and Osamu’s questioning frown, avoiding to acknowledge that he has called Osamu ugly, too, and that might not play in his favor. So he focuses on something else that has catched his attention, apart from the candy eye man, the onigiri assortment that decorates everybody’s desk. They are big, probably big enough to make your stomach ache with only one.

“Onigiri party?” He says to redirect the conversation to safer waters.

“Osamu brought them.” The white hair man next to Atsumu’s desk answers, he has 3 onigiris resting on a napkin. “He is the Onigiri God”

The tone he uses is adorned with such enthusiasm that if Suna hadn't tasted his food beforehand and knew already that those two hands are blessed by heaven, would believe it without doubt.

“Oh… I didn't know you were the boss, Osamu”

Osamu brows knit together and opens his mouth to replay, or better, to complain, although anything that comes through his mouth is muffled by his brother's shrill moan. Suna is starting to get why he dyes his hair in that shade of blonde.

“He is not! Kita-san is, Kita-san!” Atsumu repeats himself like a motto until Suna cuts it, fearing for the state of his ears.

“Right, right. Since everybody was kissing your ass I thought he had to be the boss. My most sincere apologies for assuming” He bows his head adding more dramatism to his false apologies. From the corner of his eye is able to see Osamu’s ears twisting, hardening his face.

“I take real pride in my cooking, I already told ya”

“And I already told you, I’ll agree when I taste it” He bangs one finger, pointing at his chest.

Osamu cutely pouts and Suna wishes he had his camera with him to immortalize the view, however, is soon broken, when something seems to cross Osamu’s mind as his face lights up. He scratches himself over Atsumu’s desk, and even though Suna has no idea what is going on, Atsumu seems to be quite aware of what his brother is attempting, throwing himself in his way.

“Give me one, Tsumu, don’t be a glutton”

“No way, these are mine” He adopts a protective form, kinda like a cocoon, guarding his onigiris as a father would protect his children.

“Ya can eat more at home”

“I want them now” He somehow manages to nudge his brother away using his elbow, not much but enough to have room to disgustingly lick them. “Mine”

“I’m not tasting that ” Suna declares, wrinkling his nose.

What happens next is a chaos of elbows. Osamu pushes his twin trying to gain some space in the chair, but Atsumu doesn't make it easy for him and blocks him, leaving Osamu half hanging, half on top of him.

“I’m gonna cook fatty tuna for every single employee but ya’”

“I’m yer brother. I’m yer twin ”

“Ya didn’t need to give me more reasons”

“Scrub”

“Pig”

“Get off me, yer big ass is gonna crush me” He tries and fails to get his back free again. “Ya gonna make them fall”

“That’ll serve you right”

The banter goes on, Suna gets himself comfy leaning on Osamu’s table, ready to not miss a single movement . He wishes he had his phone with him so he could record the spectacle, gosh, it’s a shame the good material he is missing. Seeing how anybody is making an effort to stop them, he deduces this scene must happen quite often. There are so many pushes, nudges… that’s amazing they don’t end up rolling on the floor.

Suddenly, a cough is heard over the fuss, taking everybody by surprise. Suna was so focused on the fight that didn’t even notice the short man approaching from behind the twins. He halts, neither too far nor too near, and just stands there, one hand on top of the other in front of his stomach. Is the first time he sees him, but he just knows who the person is as his presence strikes his whole body like a ray, or more likely, dumps him as if a cold storm has poured directly on him. He realizes right there why the Miya twins are so obsessed with their boss, he has that kind of presence that makes one want to impress him (or catch him off guard).

“What is happening?” Kita-san inquires, not wasting too many words, his tone flat and low, making it even scarier. When Suna turns to glare at the troublemakers, the both of them are standing straight with an identical innocent smile adorning their face, as if they hadn’t been biting their faces one second ago.

“Nothing, Kita-san, sharing food like good brothers” Answers Atsumu and Suna swears he can hear Osamu grinding his teeth although he doesn't lose a millimeter of smile.

“Mm good. Exquisite onigiris as always, Osamu” He nods at him in approval without showing any emotion that accompanies the compliment. It must be a great and rare gesture, Suna thinks, as that provokes a reaction from the twins, Osamu grins full of himself while Atsumu scowls, killing him with his glare. Suna is sure that, wouldn’t Kita-san have been there, that’d have caused another ruckus. Then the whitehair turns his head, addressing Suna’s presence on the sidelines. “Does Osamu’s laptop have problems again?”

The first thought that crosses Suna’s mind is what the hell with this person and how the hell does he know he works for the IT department. The second is that he is about to get scolded for not taking proper care of Osamu’s problems (which is not true). His last thought is that Kita-san can see through him with those peering eyes and he knows what Suna is doing there, actually doing there and not only is about to expose him but also scold him for making Osamu lose his time.

“No, the laptop is fine” He says bluntly, not giving any indicator of his inside turmoil.

“Good. Have you tasted Osamu’s onigiris?” Suna shakes his head, not daring to move his glare. “You should. Atsumu, give him one”

At this point, Suna doesn’t need to see Atsumu to imagine his outraged expression at that command, nonetheless, as much as he’d love to rile him up, he happens to know what he did to those onigiris some seconds ago, and his evil side is not strong enough to take that route.

“There is no need, thank you”

“I did offer him one before, he didn’t want it” Atsumu lies and Suna finally moves his eyes from Kita-san to the blonde, just to wonder how can Osamu wear that face with such grace while his twin’s yells for a punch.

Osamu remains with his lips pursed in a thin line, deep down there’s brotherly loyalty, Suna guesses.

“Well, if everything is alright I guess everybody can get back to their duties”

Suna nods like a good kid being reprimanded and notices that the people around, even those who were actually working, are also nodding.

Suna glances in front of him, where Komori is focused typing and nods to himself, perfect time to spy on the Miya’s team group. It’s not as if Komori could see through the back of the screen, but better if he is busy, Suna doesn’t want more comments.

[Miya Osamu: Did u hear? Kita-san said he likes me]

[MIya Atsumu: r u deaf? apart from dumb I mean, he said he likes ur onigiri]

[Miya Osamu: same thing. Onigiris r an extension of me, my love language]

[MIya Atsumu: r u sayin I ate a part of u, bc ew, or that u love me?]

[Miya Osamu: u ate my dick]

[MIya Atsumu: famished here, then]

[Miya Osamu: we are identical twins]

[MIya Atsumu: different brain size, different…]

Yep, nope, Suna is not sure they have different brain sizes, actually he supports the theory they share an only brain cell that they pass to each other when needed, like the three moires with their only eye.

[MIya Atsumu: btw, what did the IT guy want?]

[Miya Osamu: dunno, he never said]

[MIya Atsumu: maybe he likes u]

[Miya Osamu: ???]

[MIya Atsumu: yeah, that wasn’t my brightest]

[Miya Osamu: u r stupid. He probs came to annoy, but Kita-san aborted his plans]

[MIya Atsumu: that sounds more like it]

Suna sighs as he closes that tab, definitely idiots. For a second he thought about kissing Atsumu thanks, but the stupidity had to win the battle. It is pretty obvious Suna likes Osamu, he walked all the way to their floor side, how can they be so blind? At this rate Osamu is never going to ask him out. What’s the next thing he has to do? Use their office toilets? change his lunch hour? Send him notes with little hearts drawn?

vi

One of these days, Suna is going to gift himself a thermomix, so he will finally stop feeding himself on almost expired supermarket bentos. Nevertheless, even the thought of having to cut or peel aliments makes him forget that wish. It is only at times like that day at the office, when an appetizing whiff emanates from a particular homemade bento and makes his food look terrible and taste plain. Otherwise, he is usually pretty competent.

He is at his auto assigned spot when he feels a presence from behind and then, a plate containing three onigiris is placed on the table next to his bento. Suna doesn’t need to be a genius to guess who belongs the hand at the end of the plate. It doesn’t take more than a few seconds for Osamu to plop himself on the chair next to him. His expression is a weird mix between cocky, outraged and a deadpan, he probably tried to camouflage his feelings but failed in the attempt. Being a salesman he should put a bit more effort into mastering that skill.

“For ya” Says Osamu, breaking the silence. “I’m not sure if ya deserve them after calling me ugly, tho”

Suna remains silent, squinting at the presented food. They look exactly like something one could be eating the whole day, a bit bigger than your usual, bigger than what Suna’s stomach can afford, but makes it growls nonetheless. This is the most appetizing food he has seen since he last visited his grandparents and needs to bite his tongue to not blurt out how a life saves Osamu is being at this moment, when he was at a tear point craving some homemade dish.

Fortunately, his stomach has never reigned over his brain.

“Has your brother touched them?” Suna questions instead of eating or thanking him.

“Tsumu is not even aware of their existence. Trust me, he is a leach, they wouldn’t have reached this far otherwise” With a single finger he pushes the plate forward, invading the place where the plastic bento was and moving it out of the way

“I don’t want you going around thinking my onigiris are not the best”

“I haven’t tasted your onigiris, I can’t think anything about them”

“Precisely” He points towards the onigiri with his chin. “Now eat them, don’t make me stuff it into yer mouth”

That last sentence puts a glimpse in Suna’s eyes, maybe he wouldn’t say no to other things stuffed in his mouth. He takes one with careful hands and, under Osamu’s hawk glare, he takes a bite.

“Taste the three of them before giving me your opinion”

Suna does so, obedient, however, by the killing glare Osamu is giving him and the little twitch in his lips, he guesses that destroying the onigiris to have a bite from the center (where the real deal is), it’s not what the salesman was suggesting.

“Is there a problem?” He has the audacity to ask nonchalantly.

“Is there a problem?” Osamu repeats, incredulous, pitch a notch higher than usual.

“You weren’t expecting me to eat them all, were you? My stomach is just as big.”

“It’s only 3 onigiris.”

“And what about my bento?” He points to the plastic container and as soon as he does it, a chill crosses his body provoked by the disgust that appears on Osama's face. If he falls dead cold, he wouldn't be surprised.

“I’m not going to comment on how you are prioritizing that cheap supermarket food over my homemade onigiris…”

“You just did” He interrupts, tempted to take a spoon of the bento’s overcooked rice just to rile him up. More.

“ However , I’m gonna let it slide for now” He puts some emphasis on the word now, as if it was a clue that he won’t forget it. “What do ya think about them? They are good, right?”

Well, they are definitely more than good, those three pieces of onigiri are the most delicious ones Suna has ever tasted, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the face hands that made them. The rice has the perfect consistency, just enough sticky, seasoned perfectly, filling not short, but neither too much that steals the rice flavor. He could eat them any time any day.

“They are okay”

“Okay? You know how to flatter a chef”

“Did you appoint yourself as a chef or has it been your grandparents who gave you the title? Because none of those count as real” He teases, but Osamu decides to ignore it in favor to keep quiet, never breaking the contact with his eyes. There’s an intensity in them that if Suna was a lesser man, he would break. “What do you want? A report card? I already told you they are good”

“I want a full review” He insists. “You seem one of those people who always leave comments on the restaurants websites”

What makes Osamu think that he’d put so much effort into something, Suna does not know, but he is not one of those people by any means.

“I like the salmon ones the best”

“There weren’t salmon ones”

“Yeah, so take note”

That is the best compliment someone can give a chef, Suna thinks, asking for a second round. So he doesn't understand why Osamu isn't showing him his cute little dimples that always go with a smile.

[Miya Osamu: the IT guy hates me]

[Miya Atsumu: have u eaten his pudding?]

[Miya Osamu: that’s u]

[Miya Atsumu: have u punched his little brother?]

[Miya Osamu: oc not. And how’d that make him hate me? If someone punched u I’d marry them]

[Miya Atsumu: that’s bc u arent a big brother, udk the sentiment]

[Miya Osamu: Yep, I’d definitely marry them]

They are so stupid. They are so stupid that Suna could actually go there and kill them both. Osamu is a salesman, a really good one from what he has heard from Komori, why can’t he see a closed sale when it is right in front of him? Perhaps, he should punch Atsumu for real to make a statement, although, even though Osamu’s words, he bets the result wouldn't end in victory for him.

There is something his father tends to tell him: things don’t come knocking at your door. And Suna can agree that much (unless one is playing Animal Crossing). He usually chooses to play deaf, though, saying that he didn’t choose neither to be born and here he is. Today is the day he hears those words.

Yesterday night, he changed his route back home to stop by that gourmet shop that is in the long path (he had to walk extra) and has the best ready to go meals. Suna loves them, they are flavourful, yummy and high quality, which considering their price is expected. The cost is three times more than the ones from a regular konbini. That’s the reason why he only buys those bentos that are about to expire. He purchased the biggest and most delicious looking one, thought to share with another person, Suna hopes Osamu is smart enough to take the hint.

[Suna Rintaro: I need my pen back]

[Miya Osamu: ??]

[Suna Rintaro: u took my pen with u the other day, bring it back]

[Miya Osamu: grab another one]

[Suna Rintaro: it’s special to me]

[Miya Osamu: It’s a regular bic pen]

[Suna Rintaro: I need it back before lunch time]

That chat exchange happened two hours ago, and he has been patiently waiting for Osamu to come with the bento resting on the table on the most visible spot. It’s 12:30 pm, people have started to take their break, and he believes Osamu must be doing it on purpose to get on his nerves. A theory Suna celebrates internally, he approves that kind of attitude, he wouldn’t want anything else. That is why, when Osamu walks straight to him, wearing a black suit that makes him skip a hundred beats, he says:

“Perfect timing” He makes sure to put some extra emphasis, and doesn’t miss how Osamu pursues his lips. “I was about to need it”

“Were ya, uh? Wouldn’t it be a shame if I tell you I wasted all the ink, then?” Osamu tries to provoke him, and Suna cheers him for that attempt, but he is a big brother, and an expert. Dead before taking the bait.

“Oh, it’s ok, I don’t use it to write”

Osamu raises an eyebrow, with the most untrusty expression possible, then crosses his arms over his chest as he leans on the edge of the table, just next to the bento.

“Care to explain to me why you made me come all the way here for a regular pen” He plays with it, moving it in circles using the thumb and the index, as the cool kids do at school. Until Suna snatches it, more roughly than he attempted to, then brings it to his back and starts to scratch the zone just under the nape.

“It’s my scratching pen. Don’t glare at me that way, it has the perfect sharpness to not hurt, but also to not only tickle”

“That’s unsanitary, and I have grown up with Atsumu, but give your scratching pen to people is a next”

Suna grins relaxedly while he continues rubbing the cap on his back.

“Why? Did you put it in your mouth?” Osamu wrinkles his nose and that’s all the answer Suna needs. “Ah! Talking about unsanitary behavior, I see. Do you make clients use bitten pens? Should I worry that  we're going bankrupt because of that?”

A playful glimpse crosses the salesman’s face, and Suna wants to clap for this win.

“Yeah, so you should consider stop buying such big bentos” He flicks the plastic container before abandoning his leaning position.

Fate is definitely by Suna’s side, since he hasn’t had to come up with an excuse to make the bento being noticed, but Osamu has mentioned it on his own.

“You can take it” He says casually, controlling deliberately the effort he puts into his words.

“Isn’t it your lunch?”

“You seem like you could use it”

“I’m not sure if that’s an insult or concern” He frowns suspiciously, but doesn’t give him time to elaborate. “Eat your food, Sunarin, or else you will always be this pale”

“I’ve always been this pale. And I’m telling you to take it, besides, it’s a lot ” He puts some emphasis on that last word, trying to give him a hint of what this is really about.

“Exactly what you need, lotsa food”

“I’ve already had two cereal bars”

“Cereal bars are not real food. Eat your bento”

He had to have a thing for the stubborn one among them all. Suna roughly grabs the bento and pushes it against Osamu’s chest, and presses it until the other is forced to hold it. To make a statement and make him see he is dead serious talking.

“I don’t want it anymore” He repeats, speaking between his teeth and then is when Osamu seems to give in. “You either take it or I’ll throw it”

After some seconds of loud silence and intense glaring, Osamu’s lips twist with doubt, that’s when Suna knows he has won.

“Are you sure? I can take it?” There’s a trace of hesitation in Osamu’s tone, and he doesn’t look pleased at all, as if instead of being offered good food, the class bully had stolen his lunch money.

“That's what I’ve been telling you”

His heartbeat speeds up full of adrenaline, this little discussion has awakened every cell of his body and he loves it. He loves how Osamu is able to get into his skin without even attempting to, just by the mere fact of existing.

And then, Osamu leaves with no more than a thank you. Suna follows that broad back with his glare until it can’t be seen any longer, and then feels his heart sinking as he processes that Osamu took a meal for two and didn’t offer him to eat it together.

Osamu was supposed to ask him on a work lunch date!! What is his problem??

[Miya Osamu: the IT guy hates me]

[Miya Atsumu: again? and I’m called the melodramatic one]

[Miya Osamu: he gave me an expired bento]

[Miya Atsumu: bet u ate it anyway]

[Miya Osamu: well, its food, oc. No food gets left behind]

[Miya Atsumu: u’ve watched Trolls too many times]

There’s only one word Suna can use to describe Miya Osamu and he has already used it far too many times: stupid. It wasn’t expired. It was about to expire, not the same.

There is this event Inarizaki S.A holds called happy hour , Suna has other names for it, though. Every last Wednesday of the month, they are forced to stay one hour after work to socialize with other department employees, to share some cookies and juice. It’s Suna’s second happy hour , and he most definitely had enough with the first, if at least they gave them alcohol he could bear it better. It is a bit lame to think a bunch of adults that want to be anywhere but there, have to eat cookies as if they were at a kindergarten party.

However, this time is different. After so many failures a new opportunity is handed to him. Osamu is alone, in the corner of one of the tables used for the appetizers, so he approaches him.

“Are you stocking cookies to survive the rest of the week?” He teases from behind.

The salesman doesn’t even shrug to acknowledge him, he just keeps placing cookies on a plate. Then Suna sneaks a hand to steal one, Osamu turns his head, eyes narrowed, as if looking at him were hard.

“You have a whole table full of cookies” It doesn’t go unnoticed to Suna the lack of accent in Osamu. Is it something that happens when he is uncomfortable? When he doesn’t like the person?

He tries some easy teasing to ease up the possible tension.

“But I like this one better, see, it’s shape is rounder and it also has the perfect amount of chocolate chips” He makes the cookie dance in front of Osamu’s deadpan and then, smirking, he takes a bite.

Osamu doesn’t take his eyes from him while he eats the whole cookie, maybe in an attempt to intimidate him, but Suna looks back at him, taking all the time to chew. There is something unreadable in the way he glares at him.

“Am I this interesting to you?” He teases again, mouth full of cramps. Nobody can tell him, he is not making an effort.

“Actually, you are” He answers calmly, and that is something Suna wasn’t expecting, he almost chokes at swallowing the last pieces. “Have I done something to you, Suna? Have we met before? Wrong you in any way? It might have been Atsumu. In fact, it probably was Atsumu…”

“What?” He interrupts him, although Osamu keeps talking as if he hasn’t opened his mouth.

“...because I’m pretty sure I’d remember someone as handsome had I…”

“Oh, you think I’m handsome?” He interrupts him again, sounding more genuine than he attempted to. This time Osamu does stop his speech, then hums provocatively before speaking once more.

“I’d ask you out if you didn't hate me this much” He confesses with a lopsided smile.

“ Oh ”

“Oh…?”

“No oh, oh ”

“I’m not speaking your language right now, Sunarin, you gotta use more words”

Suna shakes his head, yelling in his insides and also cursing himself. All this time he had had it, but his attempts of flirting have restrained Osamu from making a move. He better not give much thought to that, though, wanted because of his physics but rejected for his personality.

“I might say yes if you try”

He tries to sound as suggestive as possible, but Osamu purses his lips in a thin line, clearly doubting him. He takes the plate of cookies from Osamu’s hands and places it on the table behind them, forcing him to give him all his attention. Also to take away anything that stays in between their bodies. The other follows suit his action with his eyes, the doubtful grin still untouchable.

“I don’t know why I sense you are only saying this so you can reject me openly” He says and Suna has to suppress a laugh, he really wants to get to know this man. A lot. He moves closer, almost invading Osamu’s personal space, the tip of their feet touching. He really hopes Osamu doesn’t read this as aggressive, but suggestive, and when the response he gets it’s a raise of eyebrows and his expression relaxing, he feels bold enough to place a hand on his bicep.

And what a bicep, anybody could say he lifts rice bags for a living.

“I mean, I could, but the best sales are always a risk, aren’t they?”

“I’m not sure that applies, however, I’m lucky that I’m Inarizaki’s best salesman, then”

“Oh, I thought I was talking to Osamu. Sorry Atsumu, I’m interested in your twin”

“In what trouble am I getting at, Sunarin, in what trouble am I getting at” He shakes his head rolling his eyes, but the hand that encircles his wrist says otherwise. Suna moves his eyes from that hand, to the one he still has resting on Osamu’s elbow to finally lock eyes with him. A foolish smile might be reigning his face, but for once he doesn’t mind. His crush likes him back, Suna might even start calling these events happy hours, after all.

At least he thought so until a head popped out from the side, getting in the middle and forcing them apart.

“Ya’ two are aware we are at work, don’t ya? Have a little respect for Kita-san” Atsumu scrutinizes him from head to toe, nose scratched as if he was smelling something rotten. “And this is my baby brother who you are manhandling”

“I’m not related to him” Osamu replies dead serious without wasting a second, not even bothering to push his brother away.

“We have the same face. That is living proof” Atsumu then turns to face Suna with his arms crossed over his chest. “He doesn’t get how protective we big brothers can get. Are ya a big brother, Suna?”

Suna supeses what to do, if to get on the good side of the brother or if mess up with him, but when a sharing look passes between Osamu and him, he knows he has a free pass.

“I don’t see the same face, I think he is making up the proof” He puts on his most serious expression. “Do you want me to call security, Osamu?”

“Samu!!” He whines, and Osamu finally nudges him away. “I’m not blessing this thing”

Suna wants to laugh, he doesn’t even know why, maybe because of how amused Osamu looks, or because his fond lopsided smile is contagious, perhaps is the fact that, somehow, he can picture himself in this teasing exchange outside of the office and enjoying it, as part of his day a day routine. Sunas wants to burst into a laugh but has to settle for a little grin, which seems to make Osamu's grin blossom.

“Ya wanna go get married, Sunarin?” He extends his arm inviting him to take it, as a couple would.

“Lead the way, sir” Feeling a bunch of butterflies roaming his stomach, Suna rests his arm on Osamu’s.

Under Atsumu’s outraged expression, they start marching away, not only from him or the cookie table, but towards the elevators, to exit the building. They get into the elevator, still linked by their arms, and as soon as they are inside, Osamu turns his head to him, showing a toothy smile that puts a flash of warmth in his chest. So, they are leaving for real, it wasn’t just an act to tease Atsumu and get rid of him. Suna hopes there is no repercussion for skipping a happy hour, but he’ll take whatever.

“So, in which religion are we getting married? Because I’ve always dreamt of holding a ceremony in the beach, dressed like a viking and petals being thrown to me as I walk down”

“Yeah?” Osamu looks at him one more time before pushing him to exit the elevator once the doors open. “What if we better start by going to buy some bubble tea, and after we’ll get to see which kind of flower you’d like, what ya think?”

There is something endearing and reassuring in Osamu’s words, as a promise made only for Suna, that has him swearing internally to protect and cherish until it becomes true. And it may sound really stupid, miyas level stupidity, but he doesn’t care a bit. In the end, everything rubs off, so after weeks of reading their chats he might be getting a little bit stupid as well.

“Don’t usually people go for a cup of coffee or beers?” He asks, they walk shoulder to shoulder, so close that they bump with every step.

“You look more like a bubble tea person”

Suna hums content, he has the best taste in men.
