Information about the Alternate Universe nature of Five Nights of Nonsense
-This is a No Ghosts AU. None of the Animatronics are haunted, there are no souls of children trapped anywhere, and Remnant does not exist. The Animatronics get their personalities from advanced AI, rather than from being haunted.
-Michael Afton is alive. He never died. He is not a purple zombie. He also owns the Pizzeria.
-William Afton is dead. He died via spring-lock failure in the backstory, but no ghosts means no Springtrap.
-Henry Emily is alive, but he retired before FNoN began, so he will not appear in this fan fic.
-The Bite of 87 and the Missing Children Incident both happened in the fic's backstory, but have no bearing on Five Nights of Nonsense itself. The Bite of 87 in FNoN is the Bite of 83 in canon (aka the one with Fredbear).
-The Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria featured in Five Nights of Nonsense is the sixth location in this AU to feature Fazbear Animatronics. The other locations are all gone by the time of FNoN, and their Animatronics are living at the current Freddy Fazbear's.
-Every Animatronic who had a variable or unstated gender in canon is now female. This applies to Mangle/Toy Foxy, Funtime Foxy, and Spring Bonnie. Lefty is an exception, because the Animatronic was male despite being haunted by a female spirit. The author did this to make the character gender ratio as close to 50/50 as possible.
-The Nightmare Animatronics are real robots here. The Phantom Animatronics do not exist.
-"Parts and Service" is now "Parts and Services." Canon can fight me.
-Animatronic couples in this fan fic: Funtime Freddy X Ballora, Toy Freddy X Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie X Toy Chica, and Mangle X Classic Foxy.
-Circus Baby and Classic Freddy have regular ship tease, but are not a couple.
-Lefty has a massive crush on Rockstar Freddy, but it is currently one-sided.
Disclaimer: This fan fic was started in April of 2020, and was 80% written before 2021 began. As a result, any and all similarities to Security Breach are entirely coincidental (even the oddly specific ones).

09/17/2024 update: I have been trying to write FNoN Origins without retconning anything in this story, because I considered it complete. This is especially true because I worked on this one and the broad strokes of Origins together, so they should connect smoothly. And while that is still mostly true, I reread the story recently and found some things that don’t fit the mood I want the AU to have, and I am going to change them so I’m happy with them. Technically none of these are retcons, since the plot hasn’t changed, but it is me altering details. I’m including a log here, so people who already read the story can check in and know what has changed. It isn’t a lot, but these things were bugging me.
I also removed a few embarrassing typos, but I’m not tracking those.
Change log:
Chapter 3: I realized belatedly that this fic makes Stanley the Day Guard work for ten hours every day except Monday, which is a 60-hour work week. That’s literally insane and was not my intention. To fix this, I have added dialogue to state there is normally another Day Guard, but she’s on vacation, so Stanley is covering all six days for this week only.
Chapter 4: Removed the lines about nasty rumors surrounding the Funtime Animatronics. Origins lore has moved towards Pizzeria guests believing the “Circus Baby,” “Funtime Foxy,” “Funtime Freddy,” and “Ballora” at this location are based on the original Funtimes and are not the actual Funtimes, so there is no reason for people to connect their past to them. Stanley is instead worried that they don’t have the Human Protection Protocol, which is still true.
Funtime Foxy also no longer sprays chloroform at random people, because that joke relies on the public being okay with this happening, which I’ve decided is stupid. It’s also really out-of-character for her Origins established personality.
chapter 7: Removed the lines about nasty rumors surrounding the Animatronics again, for the same reason as in chapter 3. I’m not sure why I was so committed to this idea when Origins never supported the existence of rumors, but it was most likely a nod to canon that didn’t fit the mood of this AU.
