Work Text:

Eden, where the ruler of the kingdom once stood. Torn apart by corruption, taken over by darkness, spreading throughout each of the seven realms. This time, it wasn't in ruins.

A palace rebuilt, not for power, not to rule, not to be a god—but to love.

Past the harsh terrain at the foot of Eden, past the constant rocks and shards, past the broken remnants of what used to be, a palace stood tall, reaching for the stars. At the final room where all the elders lay at rest, his screams echo through each and every realm.

A prayer, as the gold of his core shone brighter than eden itself. Golden markings across his skin. As beautiful as the sight was, it was a night of grief. Sat above his lover, he held his face in his palms. Praying to all the elders, praying to the king, the god, to have him back.

"Please.. stay with me..! if it means i'll give you my life then so be it..!" Sah begs, loud and in tears as he held his lover in his arms, his one true love, the only one he's ever wanted, the only one he needs. Saffron was weak, the glow of his core was dimming with each passing second. Pretty blue eyes fading gray, the beautiful blue Sah could never forget, a blue he'd willingly dive into and get lost in, he never wanted to leave. Not now, not ever.

Sah's markings glow bright, each touch of his skin on the other would glow, but it only lasted mere seconds before fading to nothing. "No… no no please! It has to work! you have-" his screams broke into sobs, pulling the other into a tight hug, "you have to stay with me.. I'm nothing without you.."

Saffron was hardly conscious in his arms. Weakly leaning up, he presses a kiss on his lips. Sweet, just like their very first, warm, just like in the middle of the ice rinks they'd skate in, comfortable, just like the sleepy night and morning kisses, and loving, just like every second they shared, every hour, every week, every year, and up until now, at the brink of downfall.

Sah's core dripped down his chest, to the others' dimming one, and slowly, to the floor. Every little crevice, every crack of the palace's ruins—start glowing gold. A beautiful gold hue painting the palace in a sweet warmth. The lovers' cores glow bright, endlessly so, outlining their silhouettes embraced together under the stars, their kiss never parted as the light rushes through their bodies. Sealing them eternal. To a love never forgotten, and to a love unable to part.

"I love you, my sunshine."
