Work Text:
He woke up before her, an unusual occurrence, but he didn‘t mind.
It was early morning, quiet, except for the birds singing their songs.
Dust particles were dancing in the sun that shone through the curtains, tickling his skin with its warmth.
She was lying halfway on top of him, he could feel her breath against his skin, could hear her soft snores.
Like always, they’d gone to sleep all tangled up in each other.
They hardly knew how to fall asleep without the other one anymore, not since everything that’s happened to them.
He held her close, not wanting to disturb her by getting up, instead he let his fingers trail across her back and shoulders, letting himself get lost in the familiar feeling of her skin.
He knew every bump, every divot, every angle and curve by heart.
He could’ve stayed in that moment for an eternity.
After a while, she began to stir.
Yawning, she stretched her body, lifting her head from his chest.
‘‘G’morning“, he told her, smiling. ‘‘Morning‘‘, she told him, burying her face into his chest once more, making a content little noise.
Yes, he would give everything to stay like this forever.
