It had been a couple of weeks since Kenji had proposed to be his boyfriend. It was hard for him to accept his feelings but in the end the older boy had accepted. These last 3 days however, Ben had noticed that there was something unusual between Kenji and Brooklynn. Now, Ben didn't hate the girl but there were some moments when she became a bit exasperating, and annoying.
Like now
He was holding her hand clearly no one knew about Ben and Kenji's relationship, it was something Ben had asked him to keep secret for now, but Ben boiled with jealousy every time the girl hugged or got closer than normal Kenji, Ben didn't consider himself jealous, in fact he constantly repeated to himself.
"I am not jealous."
It was a big lie
"He does it on purpose" Ben would say to his dinosaur.
"I'm not jealous, just...she can't do that, that's not what friends do, I don't do that with Darius or Yaz" excused the boy
Bumpy looked at him uncomprehendingly.
"Don't look at me like that, you know I'm right, I shouldn't be making a fuss about it."
Ben was about to continue talking to his dinosaur when he heard a giggle, he walked over to some bushes and could see Brooklynn tickling Kenji.
"Fucking bitch" thought Ben.
"This is not going to stay that way superstar" whispered the boy.
In the afternoon as usual they ate on the boat to watch the sunset, it was their favorite part of the day after being on the run to save sis lives, Yaz and Sammy sat together Darius was bringing some fruit and behind him came Kenji and Brooklynn laughing, Ben was already at the table and was waiting for his boyfriend.
"Well guys I wanted to tell you something about our escape plan, I was thinking-" Darius was interrupted by Ben, who stands up from his chair.
"I'm going to have to stop you for a moment Darius, but I have something important to tell you guys."
Everyone's attention was on Ben, mainly Kenji was very integrated by what the brown-haired man wanted to say.
"Well, I know you don't know but for a few weeks now I've been having a relationship with someone in the group, I asked him to keep it a secret but now I regret that because I don't have to hide something I love, it's not so bad to love someone even if that someone is Kenji."
The mention of Kenji perplexed everyone especially Brooklynn who looked at Kenji with her mouth open, Sammy got up very quickly and ran to hug Ben.
"That's great Ben, I'm glad you can finally say what you love I'll think of a name for his partner" the girl said very cheerfully.
"Wait, so you're saying that you and Kenji are boyfriends?" asked Darius.
"Yes, I asked him not to say anything for now, but I guess I can't keep it a secret forever how much I love him"
"Good for you guys" Yaz said smiling.
"Yeah, it's amazing, I didn't really suspect anything" said Brooklynn getting up from her seat, she was sitting next to Kenji who had said absolutely nothing
"Well I think we should celebrate, tomorrow we can go get more supply and hopefully we'll find sodas or stuff like that " Darius suggested.
They all agreed, once Brooklynn separated from Kenji, Ben went to sit next to him.
"I didn't know you were such a jealous jungle boy" said Kenji.
Ben blushed almost completely, had Kenji noticed his anger at his closeness with Brooklyn?
"I'm not jealous" he said with a frown.
"Whatever " Kenji said starting to eat.
"I just take care of what's mine" said Ben before rushing to give her a kiss on the lips he heard cheering from Yaz and Sammy
"Hey guys ! Please be a little more considerate of us" Darius teased.
When Ben broke away from Kenji he could see his friends, and there she was, he had seen them kissing, his goal was accomplished, he had to keep anyone who wanted to harm their relationship at bay.
"Wow I thought you didn't want to confirm our relationship" said Kenji in a mocking tone.
"Well, and why not, I wasn't too sure before, now I have no problem doing it" he smiled innocently
"Yes, my little jungle boy I don't think that's the reason, is it?" Kenji of course knew what Ben was doing.
"I don't know what you're talking about"
"Okay, I believe you, but you should hide your jealousy a little more" he said before standing up to go get some more water.
Ben was shocked, Kenji had noticed his jealousy and yet he was still standing next to Brooklyn "son of a bitch " thought Ben, when Kenji returned he sat back down next to his boyfriend, Ben gave him a murderous look.
"Hey ! He would be dead with that look" his boyfriend scoffed.
"To clarify I'm not jealous" said Ben and leaned back to his boyfriend.
