Summary
„Well, someday I’ll make you laugh at one o’ my jokes“, Ghost stated, amusement haunting his voice. „Not your jokes though, Ghost“, Soap mumbled in response, receiving a light slap on the shoulder from the other man.
He was glad the awkward silence was filled with their usual banter again.
They kept it up until the base was starting to appear in the distance. Soap felt at peace again, weirdly. „Ah dae lik' yer jokes, Ghost“, he told him when they exited the car, purposefully using a thick Scottish accent. Ghost growled slightly at that. „Speak English“.Soap just shot him a big smile and walked off, leaving a confused Ghost behind.

Basically 5 times Soap speaks in Scots, thinking Ghost can't understand him, and 1 time Ghost responds in a horrible string of badly pronounced Scots. Be prepared for a lot of softness and an equal amount of emotional hurt.

“I’m okay,” Ghost had murmured, a skeletal gloved hand coming out to cradle his jaw, thumb swiping away the blood, the sinew, the remainder of the carnage that Soap had caused in his desperation to get to Simon.
And despite the fact that Simon nearly died, the man had leaned forward, pulling John beneath his chin, the skull mask digging against his temple. But John didn’t care, the pain reminded him that this was real. That Simon was alive, that he was breathing.
And the man said nothing when John lifted a hand, when he pulled at the edge of the balaclava, slipping beneath the fabric, hand splayed flat against the column of Simon's throat, crying out when he felt his pulse, strong and steady beneath his fingertips.

Summary

Summary
“If I die, make sure I get cremated,” Soap said into the comms in a hushed tone. It was supposed to be a joke, but there was a very real possibility that he wouldn’t make it out alive.
A moment of silence stretched on the other end, leaving Soap to wonder if Ghost had heard him. Then the Lieutenant spoke, “You’re not going to die.”
“How would you know?”
“I need you alive.”

Soap and Ghost have never been close.
Everything changes when Soap has to fight his way back to Ghost—injured, unarmed and with only his lieutenant’s voice to keep him grounded.
