Anything bad happen?
You just need to get through
Day by day
Have strength, think of me"

Work Text:

Dahyun, what do you want to do?

I always asked you this ever since we met at the park. You were staring at this big tree that was too big for us.

"I want to go up," you looked at me with a burning passion in your eyes.

I thought you were crazy, but I ended up following you because of my curiosity. But you burst out crying once we were at the top because you were afraid of heights.

Dahyun, what do you want to do?

We ended up enrolling in the same school. We were just two years apart. You were staring up at the sky while we were at the rooftop.

"I want to skip class," you looked at me with a mischievous glint in your eyes.

I tried talking you out of it, but I ended up following you because I wanted to accompany you. But you ended up panicking on the way home because you were afraid of the teachers telling on you.

Dahyun, what do you want to do?

It was your piano recital and I watched as one of the audience members to cheer you on. Your parents didn't attend again as expected.

"They were busy," you said.

"I want to dance," you looked at me softly as you admitted.

So, we danced late into the night until we were beat, but you got so embarrassed to the point that you couldn't look at me.

Dahyun, what do you want to do?

We were at home, texting each other all night.

"I want to go out," you typed as quickly as you could.

I tried saying 'no'. But the next thing I knew, I was already sitting next to you.

"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"   But you never knew.

Dahyun, what do you want to do?

I visited you at the hospital today. You haven't been at school for days.

"I want to go see the sun set," you turned your head to look at me with the same Cheshire cat smile and crescent moon eyes.

So, I took you out of the room to see the everchanging skies.

"The sunset is beautiful, isn't it?"   But I never wanted to know.

Dahyunie, it's already getting late. What do you want to do now?

But you never responded.

Dahyunie, there are a lot of things I haven't said. But when you climbed up that tree with bugs, I thought you were so cool. You were smiling from ear-to-ear when you tried to have a race with the train on our way home. And when we danced that night, you could barely look me in the eye.

By that time, I knew. I like you, you just never knew.

So when you never responded that night, I wished I could turn back time.

Dahyunie, you're so unfair. I wished I hugged you longer that time and finally call you 'mine'.

But you know that I could never get mad at you, right? Especially when you show me that Cheshire cat smile.

So, Dahyunie, what do you want to do?

Are you able to do everything you ever wanted to do there? I do hope you're resting well.

Well, good night, Dahyunie. Sleep well.

I hope my letters reach you soon.
