Work Text:
At the age of fifteen, every teenage girl and boy undergoes this so-called debriefing on the curious topic of soulmates. It was a common, passed-down practice of individuals from different families to let the next generation know about the concept of finding their other half.
And when Heeseung learned how he was fated to be with another person, how there is this invisible red string that ties all of what he is to somebody that could probably be anywhere in the world, he was skeptical about it.
Like, how could someone be the figurative half of him even before he was born in this world? It was too unrealistic and fictional to even happen. Fifteen-year-old Heeseung thinks it was absurd. And yet… yet he couldn’t help the blooming anticipation in his chest, no matter how much he tried to repress the said emotion.
Until that fateful day came for him.
It was during their I-land days, at least two weeks before the debut lineup would be announced. Hints nor warnings never appeared when it happened, sending Heeseung to be utterly flabbergasted which led to a series of multiple self-imposed events of humiliation, in front of his soulmate at that. Again, not his proudest moments.
It was a normal day, really. Heeseung woke up at the usual time he does, past breakfast and too early for lunch. He sat on his bed and was dazed for a minute or two before he finally got up to wash up, seeing how the two beds in front of him were made and the room was void of any human presence other than himself. As soon as Heeseung stepped inside the living room, he was greeted by many hellos and good mornings from the other trainees present there. Upon seeing him, Jay immediately swerved in his direction to ask him what he wanted to eat and if Heeseung would like for him to cook him some food, apparently feeling guilty about how the others have already wolfed down what he made earlier. However, Heeseung only smiled kindly at him and said it was okay as he only wanted to eat cereal and milk first then ramen for lunch.
“Okay, hyung. I’ll go and practice now, just tell me if you need something.”
Heeseung laughed and nodded at the persistent boy, “Yes, yes, I will. Now, go on Jongseong-ah.”
After mindlessly eating and cleaning up, Heeseung noticed how the living room had been deserted, leaving only him and a human burrito he’s only noticed now which was laying on the couch. Curious, Heeseung walked over to uncover the identity of the human burrito who chose to sleep on the couch instead of the bedroom. As he stood over the figure, he saw how only the head and tiptoes of his fellow trainee were peeking from the comforter wrapped tightly around himself. Heeseung leaned in to take a closer look at their face as the said trainee was facing the inner portion of the couch, making it hard for Heeseung to freely see who they were. And upon the inspection, despite the uncomfortable position of how he was hunched over, Heeseung managed to put a name on the human burrito—it was Sunoo.
Heeseung was struck dumb, he knew Sunoo was a good-looking boy. Someone extremely adorable and with a lot of charms, and Heeseung would like to think that Sunoo’s fox eyes are one of those. Heeseung stared at the beauty mark under Sunoo’s left eye and the one on his cheek, just approximately two inches away from the former. Sunoo’s lashes were long, it also almost hid the mole under his eye but not enough for Heeseung not to see it completely. His nose had a nice slope that points at the end and oh, Heeseung had to gulp as his eyes trained on Sunoo’s plump lips, they looked quite pale today yet also looking just as smooth and pouty as he remembers them to be.
Okay, okay, wait. It’s not like Heeseung was staring at Sunoo’s lips all the time—okay, maybe he does find himself staring at the latter boy sometimes and when he does, he just tends to be quite reluctant to take his eyes away.
Just as Heeseung was about to lean back, Sunoo’s slight whimper caught him freezing on his spot, breath hitched. And so, he watched as Sunoo’s brows creased and how his long lashes danced closely on his skin, he watched as those eyes fluttered open, revealing a beautiful pair of amber irises. Sunoo stared at him in a daze as if trying to recall who he is before it turned into a confused gaze, probably wondering why Heeseung is hunched over him and looking at him while sleeping like an absolute creep.
However, before Heeseung could even talk, he was interrupted by the sound of Sunoo’s hoarse and small whisper of his name.
“Heeseung hyung.” Sunoo has a smile on his face while looking at his hyung, eyes crinkled into an arc. His cheeks looked rounder on his face and Heeseung wanted nothing more than to poke into them and see how deep his finger could go.
“H-hi…” Heeseung managed to croak out in broken breaths, his voice sounding lower. When he gulped, he hoped that it would drown the nervousness in his veins.
Sunoo giggles at the response he got from the older, however, he cut himself off as he yawned—lifting the comforter up to cover his mouth. As much as Heeseung would want to stand straight or just simply change his position, he couldn’t. He was entranced at the sight below him. He caught sight of it all; from when Sunoo’s eyes closed when he yawned, and how they were pooling with unshed tears when they opened.
Heeseung doesn’t know what kind of ghost had possessed him just then. It must have had a mountain of self confidence, he guesses, because there was no way that Heeseung would have done such a thing if he was in his right mind. Before he knew it, Heeseung’s hand was already moving toward Sunoo’s confused face, thumb swiftly sweeping under the younger’s eyes and efficiently shedding the yawn-produced tears there.
See, it would have been okay if it stopped there. It would have saved Heeseung some face for Sunoo to see. But, fate just didn’t want to be kind to him today.
Heeseung felt it. The beats of his heart that suddenly became erratic, like a computer encountering an error in its system. It was almost as if the little thing wanted to pull his chest apart and just latch itself on Sunoo. And when his eyes diverts at the finger that touched Sunoo’s skin, Heeseung feels all of the air in his body being knocked out. There, just under Sunoo’s left eye, was every letter of his name being carved in cursive colors of red, until it settled there perfectly there—blending in his skin.
Realization was quick to find Heeseung. He knew just what all of this meant. No matter what countless thoughts seeped into his mind that he was close to exploding, Heeseung’s eyes never left the pretty face just under his own. The expression on Sunoo’s face says it clearly; Heeseung was not in any way hallucinating. Sunoo felt it too. He felt the carving of something on his skin. The older of the two watched the amusing expressions that Sunoo made, and how the emotions he felt could be read from his eyes. It went from mild surprise, confusion, even more confusion, realization, utter shock, and finally—the emotion that Heeseung couldn’t read. Sunoo’s gaze softened by then, but Heeseung was lost when he suddenly had no idea as to what the younger one was thinking.
A gasp escaped past Heeseung’s lips when Sunoo gently took his hand, eyes still locked with his hyung’s. “Hyung… this…” Sunoo’s voice trailed, suddenly unsure of what to say. “It’s your name, right?” He asks.
The question proved Heeseung’s hunch a step closer to his reality and truth. Unable to speak, Heeseung settles with a nod.
It was indeed his name. Lee Heeseung.
The thoughts in his head must have gotten the best of him as now, Heeseung doesn’t know what to do, everything feels like it’s happening quickly, too fast for his liking. “I… I…” Seeing how Sunoo was adorably waiting for a response from him, his brain short-circuited and panic flooded him. Heeseung scrambled to stand up, looking at anywhere but Sunoo. He thinks that he probably looks constipated by how he’s continuously stepping forward and back, not knowing where he should go. Finally, after so much contemplating, Heeseung spoke. “S-sorry. I… I’m going to—uhm, t-to prac—practice!”
And before Sunoo could even utter a word to stop Heeseung, the elder of the two had already sprinted away from him, even tripping two times in the process. “Wait, hyung! It’s the other…” Sunoo blinks as Heeseung’s figure disappears. “...way.” Sunoo sighs, a fond smile appearing on his lips as he looks at where the older has gone.
Yeah, he probably needs some time to register all of that.
And so, time is what Sunoo gave to Heeseung.

“Heeseung hyung!”
Sunoo’s head shot up instantly, eyes wandering around for a while before he saw someone’s back hurriedly running away. Okay, this isn’t funny anymore.
It’s been four days, okay. Four whole days since both he and Heeseung found out that they are each other’s soulmates, three days since Heeseung ran away from him. And surprise—he still is!
The first day after they found out, Sunoo could understand that the older boy seemed to have too much on his plate especially with their performance coming soon. Heeseung must want to push back the soulmate thing a little more before they eventually talk about it, and Sunoo, barely seeing Heeseung as he would like, truly understands the situation. The second and third, however, Sunoo had an inkling that Heeseung is just generally avoiding him. And Sunoo being Sunoo, he’s having none of that. He proceeded to approach the elder first, but he hadn’t even taken a step forward and he would see Heeseung already sprinting away from him, the whole ordeal is just driving Sunoo pretty mad at this point. It was so damn frustrating, to say the least.
Eye twitching in annoyance, Sunoo drops his fork on his plate a little too loudly which earned a few curious glances. But Jungwon was the only person who came to him immediately.
“Hyung, are you okay?” Jungwon asks, his brows creased a little as he placed a hand on the small of Sunoo’s back, even drawing circles on them. “You don’t have to eat the pickles if you don’t want to, hyung. I’ll eat them instead.”
With a pout, Sunoo looks at the younger boy with big eyes. Jungwon’s genuine concern for him makes his heart flutter, even if the reason for it was a little bit petty if Jungwon were to know. Sunoo opens his arms and pulls Jungwon into a hug, burying his face in his dongsaeng’s chest. “Thank you for worrying about me, Wonie.” He utters, which Jungwon still understood, be it muffled.
Jungwon, on the other hand, only let out a chuckle, letting Sunoo do whatever he wanted while his own hand traveled its way on his hyung’s silky hair, combing them gently with his fingers.
“I think Sunoo hyung is a little too deprived of affection today.” Sunoo hears another voice coming from behind him, someone all too familiar. It sounds like the little guy who wiggles beside him at night. “Riki love-hug, coming through!” And he was right.
Sunoo giggles when he feels Riki’s chest pressed against his back, the younger’s arms snaking on his waist like a tight belt. Sandwiched between the two, Sunoo basks in the warmth of their affection before he grows tired of his position, “Okay, enough! Let go, let go.” He says, tapping both Riki’s arms and Jungwon’s chest in the process while he tries to move away.
As they sat on the little chairs by the counter, Riki and Jungwon sitting on either side of him, Sunoo sighs and pokes at the lasagna that Jay made. Taking notice of this, Riki rests a hand on Sunoo’s nape while his fingers comb the hair it could reach from there. “What’s wrong, hyung? You’ve been a little on edge for days now.” He asks tentatively, voice gentle as if talking to a baby.
Jungwon had his head resting on his arms that were placed on the table, staring at Sunoo and the expressions that he makes. “Right. Even Taki is a little hesitant on approaching you these days because you always had this big, gloomy aura around you.”
Sunoo juts his lower lip, “Ah, I don’t even know anymore. This is all Heeseung hyung’s fault.” He mumbles the last sentence as he takes a bite of the already cold lasagna. “Running away like a coward every time he sees me, hmph!”
Riki and Jungwon both chuckled as they took in Sunoo’s frown, his hand clutching the fork adorably as he punched the side of his fist on the table. Their hyung just looks a lot cuter when he’s furious, hence why their teasing intensifies as time passes—although never out of bounds.
“You should talk it out, hyung. Whatever it was, Heeseung hyung must have also been very affected by it seeing how he just sprints away when he sees you.”
Of course, it did affect him! I could literally feel his nervousness in my veins every time he was just a little closer to me.
Sunoo rolls his eyes at Jungwon’s remark, the younger shoving this on his face as if he doesn’t already know of Heeseung’s odd behavior. Sunoo fake gasps, “Thanks for pointing it out, Wonie. I never would have guessed that Heeseung hyung was intentionally avoiding me!” He says this with every word laced with overflowing sarcasm.
“Hyung!”
Riki only laughs at the two before he chips in, “You should just corner him, hyung. Ask him what’s up and all that.”
Sunoo turns to the youngest, raising an eyebrow. He reaches for Riki’s face before pinching his cheeks, “Stop trying to be cool, you big baby. Telling me to ask Heeseung what’s up, when you can’t even ask your crush what’s up.” Sunoo disses him, but Riki’s cheeks only grew redder than it was before even after Sunoo pulled his hands away.
The youngest of the three was flustered to the core, averting his eyes away with a pout. “W-well, at least we talk!” Riki defensively counters, making Sunoo giggle.
Jungwon blinks at the revelation, “Riki has a crush now? Who is it?” He asks, huddling closer.
Sunoo shrugs, “Riki wouldn’t tell me even after he made me his slave for one day.” He says bitterly as he recalls how he basically ran around all day for Riki.
Riki huffs, but the grin on his face betrayed him although his ears were still flushed red. “You did that out of your own accord, hyung! You wanted to know so bad that you took it upon yourself to be my personal maid, then got upset when I told you nothing. Stop spreading lies!” He pokes Sunoo’s sides, making the older boy return the gesture with a little more force.
Jungwon doesn’t even know just when he has been dragged into the pit of nonstop tickling between the two, but he finds himself laughing his bum off as his fingers produce heartily laughter from Sunoo. It was a sound that was too nice, and the expression of happiness on Sunoo’s face was like a beautiful view of a tourist spot, it was a sight to see.
Indeed, it is.
Heeseung sighs fondly as he drinks in the sight of Sunoo laughing from the kitchen while he’s awkwardly standing from the door frame of the living room, ready to run if ever Sunoo looks his way. He couldn’t hear anything aside from the loud giggles from the three, and seeing Sunoo laugh without restraints was a relief to him.
Three days. God, it’s been three days since Heeseung’s world seemed to have flipped and shook, and yet he still thinks that he must have been just dreaming about it this whole time. Because, how? Just exactly how could a gorgeous, kind, and adorable human such as Kim Sunoo possibly be Heeseung’s soulmate? That out of the current eight billion living people in the world, it was Sunoo that has been fated to be with him?
Mhm, very suspicious, Heeseung thinks that fate has been rigged.
Anyway, aside from that, Heeseung already turned eighteen before he even stepped in on I-land and he’s shared quite a few affectionate and innocent touches with Sunoo before, but nothing literally happened then! So, why now? How? Heeseung has been racking his brain for an answer to this question at the same time as he has been running away from the younger boy. Unfortunately for him, he found that none of his thoughts were even appropriately sane enough to be considered a decent answer.
Of course, Heeseung knows that he couldn’t possibly hide from Sunoo forever, and he won’t. He’s just… utterly nervous, and has been for the past few days that just the sight of Sunoo near him could make his knees go wobbly and he’d probably trip on nothing.
I should go and talk to him. I felt how upset, annoyed, and sad he has been for the past few days.
Heeseung nods to himself, his hands form into fists.
Fighting!

When night time came and almost everyone had already tucked themselves to bed, Riki pulled Heeseung to the direction of the kitchen and asked the older boy to show him how to use the microwave again.
“Why me, Riki-yah? You could have asked Jongseong instead as he’s the one who uses the kitchen often.” Heeseung grumbles, his tired body being dragged away by Riki until they are finally inside the kitchen.
“I want to have a microwaved strawberry!”
Heeseung whips his head in the younger’s direction, looking absolutely horrified at what he had just heard. “No, nuh-uh. Let’s go, what you need is obviously sleep.” Heeseung says as he tries to make his way out of the kitchen.
However, Riki was quick to hug his arms while both laughing and begging. “No, no, no! Please, hyung! Help me just this once, I won’t bother you again. I just want some microwaved strawberries! Please!” Riki showed him his puppy eyes as he latched himself on Heeseung.
As someone who couldn’t possibly say no to Riki’s puppy eyes, Heeseung huffs before he eventually agrees. “Oh, wait. One second, hyung. I’ll just get my phone really quick to record this so I won’t forget!” The younger one says this while he’s already running out of the kitchen, making Heeseung sigh and take a seat on one of the chairs by the counter.
It was a few minutes before he heard shuffling and someone entering inside that Heeseung had finally breathed a sigh of relief, turning his body to the microwave without even glancing at who entered. “You were gone for so long that I thought you had probably slept first.”
“Hyung.”
Heeseung’s breath got caught in his lungs, his wide, shocked eyes blinking rapidly as he identified the owner of the voice. The fast-paced thundering of his heart didn’t help in making the situation better, it only added fuel to the fire when Heeseung felt a smaller body pressed against his back, and how two arms wrapped themselves around his waist.
“Talk to me hyung, please.”
The hurt and utter desperation in Sunoo’s voice was like a wake-up call to Heeseung. Of course, Sunoo was hurt by how he’s been acting toward him these days. And as much as Heeseung hates the idea, it has already happened. Feeling guilty, Heeseung hesitates on whether to turn around to face the younger or stay in their current position. He doesn’t know how to face Sunoo, honestly. Or, if he even has the guts to face him. Heeseung did tell himself that he’s going to have a talk with Sunoo soon, but soon is definitely not now! He’s unprepared!
Sunoo, having received no response from the older, sadly bites his quivering lips. “I’m sorry, hyung. You probably need more time, right? Just… just come to me once you’ve decided to talk, okay?” Sunoo says this in a small voice, the corners of his eyes already pooling with tears as he releases Heeseung’s body from his embrace.
Heeseung felt an intense pain in his chest at the same time Sunoo was speaking, and he was sure it was how the younger one was feeling at the moment. It’s like Heeseung’s heart was being squeezed to its breaking point. Like, he’s carrying a heavy rock alone while climbing a steep mountain. That’s how suffocating it was.
Fuck.
Heeseung didn’t want to think anymore. He turns around and sees Sunoo’s dejected figure walking away, and so, with a few quick steps, Heeseung immediately catches up to the younger. With a tight grip on the wrist, yet not enough to hurt Sunoo, Heeseung stops him.
Sunoo was startled by Heeseung, now staring at the older and waiting for him to speak. “Hyung?”
Heeseung takes it upon himself to bravely take Sunoo’s hands, smiling apologetically. His eyes trained on every line, every curve made to shape his name on Sunoo’s skin. He freed one of his hands and traced his name under Sunoo’s eye who instinctively shut his lids close. Heeseung felt Sunoo’s hand tremble against his hold, accompanied by a small whimper from the younger. The older then leaned in and placed a chaste peck on his carved name on Sunoo’s skin before finally pulling away, the younger stiff as a rock who let out a small gasp in shock by the action—but having no negative reaction apart from his flushed face. Hands roamed from Sunoo’s elbows before coming back to his wrists and settling themselves onto the younger’s own smooth pair, clasping them together.
Finally, Heeseung found himself looking back at Sunoo’s amber irises again. And god, how he missed those pretty fox eyes.
“I’m sorry, Sun.” Heeseung breathes, gnawing on his lips. “I was too overwhelmed by just about everything so I… I ran away from it.” He pauses, never breaking their eye contact. “I was a coward. I was nervous, hell, I was scared to even face you. Everything just came too fast, and I wasn’t prepared for it. One day, you were my cute dongsaeng and suddenly you became someone I would be spending all of my life with. The transition was like a slap to my face, begging me to quickly accept what was happening. But, it wasn’t that easy. Our very situation scares me. We’re literally in a survival reality show. And finding my soulmate here, never once did I think about it.” Heeseung takes in a deep breath, squeezing Sunoo’s hand on his own. “Then, I realized that it must have been the same for you. I’m sorry for being selfish and for thinking that running away from our situation was the answer when it only dragged this much-needed conversation for too long. Thank you for being patient with me, Sun.”
Sunoo smiles when he sees it on Heeseung’s lips, happiness exudes from all of him. From the way his eyes lit up, and the way his back was relaxed, Sunoo seemed languidly content. “I forgive you, hyung.” He giggles, taking his hand and pulling the older into a tight embrace.
“Oomf!” Heeseung lets out a surprised yelp before he relaxes his body in Sunoo’s arms, wrapping his own into the younger’s small waist. “I can’t promise you much but, I do promise to choose both of us over anything else. We’ll take every step together, okay?”
Sunoo nods, sighing contentedly into the hug, rubbing his cheek against Heeseung’s chest. “Yes, together.”
Finally.
Finally, the beats of their hearts were steady and at peace.
ᥫ᭡
“Hyung, please.” Sunoo whines, trying to suppress a smile as he tries to get out of Heeseung’s hold who seems to have no intention of letting him go. “Hyung, we have to go.”
They were in one of the bedrooms, with Heeseung still half asleep on his bed. Sunoo was the sacrificed lamb to wake the elder up by the other trainees who were already in the practice room. And Sunoo honestly didn’t like the idea, although not completely, since well—they would be doing exactly what this is, whatever it’s called.
Sleepy Heeseung is a harder opponent than an energetic Heeseung, Sunoo has noticed from past relived experiences. The older of the two just becomes very clingy and there is no fighting your way out of Heeseung’s arms once you’ve been caught—not if you’re Kim Sunoo.
Heeseung only hums as he continues to nuzzle his face on Sunoo’s neck, breathing in his soulmate’s scent. The tip of his nose grazes against Sunoo’s skin, accompanied by his breathing, Sunoo was bound to get tickled by it every time.
“Hyung, please let go.”
“Five minutes more, baby. Please?”
Sunoo instantly grows quiet at the pet name, while Heeseung hides behind a knowing smile. It has been another three days since the conversation they had in the kitchen. And it has also been three days since Heeseung successfully eased himself into their bond, even more into having Sunoo get as flustered as he could by calling him by an endearment. Intimacy was surprisingly easy to build between them. It didn’t even need words or any signals, it just naturally happened. Heeseung has also gotten more clingy and flirty which makes Sunoo struggle to keep up sometimes, struggling in a way that he finds it hard to think about a good comeback to make the older flustered too.
“Heeseung hyung…” Sunoo lets out a sigh, his body relaxing in Heeseung’s hold as if he has completely given up on trying to escape the older. “Riki is going to be so mad. Almost everyone is already at the practice room.”
Heeseung could only laugh as he sensed Sunoo’s distress, finding it quite amusing how Sunoo seems to be afraid about Riki being mad even though he’s older than him. “Are you actually afraid of Riki, Sunoo-yah?”
Sunoo huffs upon hearing his hyung chuckling about his distress. “I guess you haven’t seen Riki get really mad since you can laugh about it.” He says, playfully smirking at the thought of Heeseung being scolded by the younger trainee. It would be a sight to see.
A hum was what Heeseung responded to Sunoo with and silence fell to them just then. It was nothing particularly fun, but rather, it was comfortable and soothing to just lay by each other’s side.
“Do you believe that the red string that connects us is actually tied to our pinky finger?”
“So randomly?” Sunoo, startled by the sudden question, pauses to digest it. “Well, to be honest, I don’t think it’s our pinky that it’s tied to.” Sunoo smiles, “I’d like to think that it is actually our hearts that it connects. Looking at how we can feel each other’s emotions very easily and react to them.”
Heeseung takes in his answer, “Hmm, that’s a good take on it. I actually think that rather than our pinky or our hearts, it’s our soul that the string is tied to—hence the soulmates.” He chuckles, “I always thought that it’s just our bodies that die, but our soul lives on for years and years until it finally finds us again.” Heeseung pulls away a little, now staring fondly at the sunshine in front of him. “If the concept of soulmates has been alive since a long time ago, and if the fated person for us in our previous lives were also the person we’re bound to in the future then—isn’t it nice to know that we’ll be able to find each other in every life we live? At least, for me it is.”
Sunoo hums, nodding his head. “I suppose so. For most people it may be the case, but there are just people out there that have an ill-fated relationship. Like, it just doesn’t work out even after many chances of trying. Just imagine if they were constantly bound to each other in each life they lived in—that must be very exhausting.” He animatedly says, his hands flailing around as he explains. “Cutting their bond after clashing with one another in every life must have been painful. I just wish those people would eventually find their own person and—hyung? Why are you laughing?” Sunoo questions his hyung who buried his face on Sunoo’s neck once again, his shoulders shrugging up and down as he laughs.
Heeseung snakes his hands around Sunoo’s waist, squeezing tight for a moment before holding his soulmate languidly. “Ah, it’s nothing. You were just adorable, baby.” Heeseung stifles a laugh when he caught Sunoo’s pouting face, “I was trying to sound sweet and romantic but then you just suddenly started talking about ill-fated people and cutting bonds, I didn’t know what to say.” He admits.
“Oh.” Sunoo says in realization, blushing abashedly.
The sight prompts Heeseung to sigh in adoration, leaning in as he grazes his lips on the edge of Sunoo’s jaw, rendering the younger stiff on his spot. Heeseung chuckles when he sees Sunoo’s face getting redder at each passing second, as if ready to explode.
“Cute.”
Sunoo whines, as he shifts. It was now his turn to hide his face and bury it on Heeseung’s chest, embracing the latter in the process. Deeming the teasings being fairly enough for today, Heeseung consoles the younger by stroking his hair gently.
“You know, I used to doubt everything that involves fate and soulmates, but deep inside I knew that I was desperately anticipating it—for my other half to actually be united with me.” Heeseung smiles, now back to his romantic agenda. “And right now, I’m just very grateful that it was you. Thank you for being patient with me, Sunoo-yah.”
Sunoo lifts his head a litte, just enough for his eyes to show and see Heeseung. And in a muffled voice he responds, “I feel the same as hyung.” Sunoo pulled away as he sat on the bed completely, staring at his lap as he played with his fingers. “Although I haven’t come of age yet and I still couldn’t leave my name in your skin, I’m just really happy that I get to meet you. I like that it was you, hyung.”
My soulmate.
Heeseung felt it then, this relaxing and utterly joyous emotion that was now overtaking his whole body. It was Sunoo’s emotion, and maybe his own too. Heeseung couldn’t bother to decipher which is which when he knows it to himself with just how much he loved Sunoo’s confession.
Seeing Sunoo’s red ears, Heeseung’s sweet smile swiftly shifts into a playful smirk. Humming, he decides to indulge himself in one last teasing of Sunoo before letting his poor soulmate go. “If you really feel the same then, how about a kiss on my cheek?” Heeseung says, pointing his right cheek to Sunoo which he filled with air to go rounder.
The younger was surprised with the request, unable to speak properly as he continued to mumble some incoherent words. Affection was something that Heeseung always initiates; albeit intimate and non-sexual hugs and touches, Heeseung would be the one to be bold enough to just surge in and do it. While Sunoo, well, you could say that he’s fairly content with receiving those affection from his soulmate. Also, it’s just that, he’s still in the process of easing into their current relationship. He believes it was only a matter of time, really. But Sunoo’s still just quite a little shy and Heeseung knows that. Perhaps, that’s why he asked for it—to see whether Sunoo would finally give in and shove his shyness away.
A minute passed and Heeseung was convinced that it wouldn’t be the case. Smiling still, Heeseung opens his mouth to speak when all of a sudden, his bed dips and after a few seconds with the sounds of rustling, Heeseung feels something soft land on his cheek. It was brief, devastatingly so that Heeseung couldn’t even process it happening yet and it was gone.
Oh.
Heeseung blinks. It started with his neck, then the heat just eventually went up to the tip of his head. He sees Sunoo’s figure immediately scrambling toward the door to run away, however, the younger stops as he looks back to his hyung—all with his utterly flustered face and his lower lip tucked between his teeth.
“If hyung comes down within five minutes after I do…” Sunoo, the little vixen, mirrors Heeseung’s playful smirk. “...Then I might just give you more.” Was all he said before he was running to the practice room, leaving Heeseung dumbfounded on his bed—if only for a few seconds because as soon as his door closed, Heeseung finds himself running to the bathroom in a hurry—counting the seconds in his mind and careful not to exceed that five minutes.
Usually, karma is a despicable bitch. But in Heeseung’s case, karma is nothing but a damn blessing. Besides, who the hell would say no to more kisses?
Certainly, it wouldn’t be Heeseung.
