Chapter Text
“Time of death 16:30,” Grace announced. She ripped off her gloves and took a deep breath. No matter how long she does this job, this part doesn’t get easier. It also doesn’t help that she has a personal connection to this patient. Grace walks out to the waiting room, “Luna Grey?”
“Yes?” Luna stands up and so do Tim, Lucy, Nyla, and Angela.
“Can you follow me?”Grace asked.
“Whatever you have to say you can say in front of them,” Luan weeps. Tears start to pour, Grace walks closer to her.
“I’m so sorry for your lost, but we did everything we could,” Grace said, “I can take you back there to see him.”
“Please.” Luna croaked, she stands up and followed Grace. Once Luna is out of sight, Tim storms off. Lucy goes and comforts Angela and Nyla. John, Aaron, and Celina storm in.
“What do we know?”Aaron asked. Lucy let out a sob, and Angela hugged her tighter. Nyla took a deep breath and walked over to her two former rookies.
“Um, Grey didn’t make it.”Nyla let out.
Both Aaron and Nolan looked at each other, not believing the words that just left Nyla’s mouth. Angela collected herself to step away and call Wesley.
“What do you mean he didn’t make it?” Aaron questioned
“Um, Grey got a call for a supervisor and he ended up getting shot,” Nyla replied
“Do we have the suspect in custody?” John asked
“Yeah, officers Collins and McNally took him to book,” Angela replied walking back up to the group.
“Have you seen Tim?” Lucy snorted. She begins to look around the waiting room.
“No, he’s not outside,” Aaron said tonelessly.
“ I didn’t see him when I called Wesley,” Angela chimed in
“I’m going to go find him,” Lucy mumbled. She walks off and calls him. Lucy is near the hallway that connects the rest of the hospital to the emergency room waiting room. She sees Tim crouch down on the hospital floor, with his knees to his chest and arms wrapped around them. Lucy walks towards him, “Hey.” She sits down right next to Tim.
“Hey,” Tim responds, Lucy places her hand around his bicep and squeezes it. They both just sit. There is so much that is being said without being spoken. Lucy lays her head on his arm. He kisses the crown of her head. A few tears fall from Lucy’s eyes.
“ You disappeared,” Lucy stated
“I’m sorry,” Tim replied
“You don’t have to be sorry, we all process difficult news differently,” Lucy replied.
“I know but I should’ve stayed and been there for you and Angela,” Tim confessed
“Tim,” Lucy stated,"She knows that he is beating himself up for walking out.
“ I know what you’re going what you're going to say,” Tim admits, “That I shouldn’t hide my feelings.”
“No, I was going to ask if you wanted to go home?” Lucy tells him.
“Really,” Tim replied.
“Yeah, we can order in and eat. We can talk about what just happened or we can just sit there in silence.” Lucy whispered She knows which option he will choose.
“Okay, let’s go home,” Tim voiced
Tim got up and reached out his hand. Lucy takes it and gets up. She dusts off her bum. Tim takes her hand and leads her to the truck. They get in and the ride home is quiet. Once they got home, they ordered food and ate in silence. She wants to say something but doesn’t know what to say nor does he. They finished eating and both of them moved in tandem.
It is the one thing that Lucy loves most about Tim and her relationship. It is their silent communication, they can read each other easily without verbally saying it.. They both head into the bedroom, Lucy takes out the hoops and places them in her dish. Then she places her moonstone ring in the same dish. Tim takes his watch off and his shoes. Lucy gets into the dresser, pulls out one of Tim’s old army t-shirts and pair of sweatpants, and places them on the bed. She goes back to the dresser and gets a pair of joggers and a plain T-shirt for Tim and sits it next to him. Tim unbuttoned his shirt and stood up to take it off. He puts on the shirt that Lucy has laid out for him. Then he unbuckles his belt and slides it off, unbuttons his pants, and slides those off. Takes his socks off. He is just in his boxers, he picks up the clothes he just discarded and takes them to the dirty clothes. Lucy is sitting on her side of the bed, she has made no progress in taking off her clothes. She watches Tim as he walks into the bathroom and places his dirty clothes in the hamper. Tim surprisingly was the first one to break the silence
“Lucy?” Tim question. Lucy didn’t respond, she just sits there in her own head. Tim moves in front of her and kneels to look Lucy in the eyes. Their eyes meet, and Lucy just breaks into a sob. Tim instantly jumps up and bear hugs Lucy. After minutes of her sobbing in Tim’s arm, she calms down.
“I love you,” Lucy stated. Tim sits on the bed and places his arm around her. Lucy's head falls on to his shoulder.
“I love you too,” Tim replied.
“I don’t want to be without you,” Lucy stated, her eyes tearing up.
“You're not going to be,” Tim interrupted, he starts to rub Lucy’s biceps.
“Maybe we should get married,” Lucy blurts out, “I’m serious let's get married.”
“What? Are you sure?” Tim asks Lucy to remove her head and they look at one another.
“I don’t want to be without you,” Lucy responds.
“Lucy, I don’t want to be without you. That doesn’t mean we,” Tim replied, Lucy cuts him off.
“I love you. More than anything,” Lucy confesses, “I want to start this new chapter with you.”
As Tim starts to reply, his phone buzzes. He gets up and goes grabs it off of his nightstand.
“Hey Genny,” Tim answers, his face growing with concern, “I- I need you to calm down.” Lucy shoots up and walks towards Tim, who is pacing back and forth, “Okay, call 911. Lucy and I will meet you at the station.” Tim gets redressed and Lucy follows him outside.
