“I can always have someone else look after him if you're too scared,” Kevin tried to reassure Hyunjae. “It's okay, I really don't mind.”
“No, I want to be able to look after him for you.” Hyunjae pouted and held one of Kevin's hands between his. “Please? We've been dating for half a year now! I should be able to handle Morty.”
“I know, but you're scared of him, baby.” Kevin squeezed one of his hands in return.
“I won't be if we do this,” Hyunjae rolled his eyes playfully. “I wanna do this for you.”
Kevin sighed. “You always get your way, don't you?” He smiled at Hyunjae’s pout and walked over to Morty's enclosure. He took Morty out and tried to read Hyunjae’s blank expression. “How do you want to do this?”
“I'll just hold him.” Hyunjae was confident in himself, which didn't surprise Kevin in the slightest.
“Right away? No warming up to him?” Kevin froze in shock.
“Yeah? Rip it off like a bandage.”
“Oh my God,” He rolled his eyes and walked over to the other. “You're shaking.” Kevin frowned.
“I'm fine, seriously.” he took a step closer to Kevin to prove a point.
“Okay, put your hands out.”
Hyunjae put his hands out and closed his eyes, breathing deeply to try and ignore the sudden weight on his hands and forearms.
“Not that bad, hm?” Kevin mused slightly, “Opening your eyes won't kill you, you know.”
“No, it definitely will. Do you want him back?” Hyunjae still had his eyes screwed shut and his head turned up slightly.
“I think he likes it over there, though. It would be mean of me to take him, wouldn't it?” Kevin couldn't hide the smile on his face as his boyfriend let out a whine.
“Kevin,”
“Yes, baby?” You could hear the smile in his voice.
“He's moving! I don't like it, please!” His shoulders scrunched together as he felt Morty find his way further up his arms. “Kevin–”
“He's not doing anything! He's just getting used to you.” Kevin knew Morty had an odd interest in shirts; he also knew he had a habit of climbing into shirts. Kevin just watched as Morty got close to the opening of Hyunjae's sleeve.
“Are you sure?”
“Oh yeah, he doesn't do much.” Kevin could tell from his boyfriend's face that he didn't believe him. He didn't really blame him either.
“Kevin, what is he doing?” And so it had started—Morty was now making his way under the sleeve.
“He's just sniffing you, Hyunjae. There's nothing to be scared of.”
“Easy for you to say,” Morty started making his way further up the sleeve after finding nothing of interest where he previously was. “What the fuck, Kevin? Get him out.” Hyunjae’s words were frantic and rushed, making Kevin smile. Morty had just made it up to the top of his shoulder.
“He's not doing anything,”
“He's literally going to bite my neck and kill me, Kevin!” Hyunjae squealed as he turned his head to the side as Morty popped out of the neck hole of his shirt. “Oh my God, I'm not even joking! Get him off!”
“But you guys are cute.”
“Cute? Kev please.”
Kevin giggled as he made his way over to Hyunjae and slowly removed Morty from his shirt. “Here,” he put Morty onto Hyunjae’s shoulders as he scrunched up again and whined. “It's not that bad, baby. I'm still holding him.”
“He's scary,” he said with a pout on his lips.
“I'm serious, he won't do anything.” Kevin slowly let go again as Hyunjae stayed scrunched up, but not nearly as much as earlier. “Do you want me to put him back?”
Hyunjae shook his head and said, “No.” Although Kevin could see, he was still scared.
“Aw, you guys are warming up to each other already!”
“No, we're not.” Hyunjae was still very tense, barely able to move.
“Oh yeah?” Kevin tilted his head at him slightly. “It seems like he loves you, though?” Kevin dragged out his words, teasing Hyunjae.
“Be nice!”
“But you're not being nice!”
“What do you mean I'm not being nice!”
“You're making Morty feel bad,” Kevin giggled a little, “you're making him feel like a monster, Jae! That's so mean” He faked a pout and sagged his shoulders.
“He is a monster.”
“You're only saying that because you're convinced he can kill you,” Kevin found himself reaching for Morty again, “Just admit he's not that bad!”
Hyunjae just huffed and turned away from Kevin, able to move now that Morty was off his shoulders.
“That was horrible, why did I agree to do that?” Hyunjae sulked in his spot while Kevin put Morty away.
“Don't whine, you're the one that begged me to do it!” Kevin turned back around to face Hyunjae. “But you did great for your first time!”
“Yeah, yeah.” Hyunjae dragged himself over to Kevin's bed. “If I did so well, I think I deserve cuddles, maybe a few kisses.”
“Okay, fine,” he laughed and made his way over to Hyunjae before getting pulled into bed. They stayed there for a while, exchanging kisses (mainly to suppress Hyunjae's whining) and sweet words.
“This entire thing, it was very sweet of you,” Kevin whispered against Hyunjae’s cheek. “Thank you,”
“You're welcome, it was fun,” He trailed off, “Kind of.”
Kevin giggled as he pulled himself closer to Hyunjae and pressed kisses to his face messily.
“Why do you always do this?” Hyunjas found himself trying to wiggle out of Kevin's tight hold.
“Like you don't like it,”
“It's cheesy! I'm not a cheesy guy.” Hyunjae tried to argue, unfortunately, Kevin was not falling for it.
“Oh, you're worse than me!” Kevin sat up, shocked. Hyunjae laughed loudly at the reaction of the other before pulling him back down.
“Just shut up and hold me, please, I almost died today.”
“You're so dramatic!” Kevin pinched his side before pulling his head back onto his chest. “You enjoyed it at least a little bit.”
“I liked when you called me cute if that counts,” Hyunjae laughed a little.
“I guess that will have to count,” he sighed and brushed his fingers through Hyunjaes hair. “Next time though, you'll like it because of Morty.”
