Work Text:
"Guys, check THIS out!" Sandro was currently in the middle of throwing his different sized and specialized shurikens at test-dummies to show his brothers what he had been working on.
One of the dummies slowly corroded away into dust, another burst into flames and another one had multiple holes in it with acid burning the fabric.
"I can't exactly use my paralytic or explosive ones in here, hehe. Test-dummies can't be paralyzed and I'd rather not have Donnie come for my head for blowing something up." He pointed at the soft shell behind him who was staring with wide eyes, just like the rest of his brothers.
Leo was the first to speak.
"Sandro, how did you-"
"THOSE WERE SO COOL! CAN WE GO OUTSIDE SO YOU CAN TEST THE EXPLOSIVE ONES?!" Mikey piped in, jumping up and down while Leo stared at him with a deadpan expression for cutting him off.
He pushed his younger brother out of the way and stepped up.
"Ok Sandy, like Mikey said, they're cool, but also how did you make those? Where did you get the bits and pieces because now I WANT SOME!" His expression went from being seemingly upset to being hyped about it.
Donnie stomped his foot down like an angry toddler who wasn't getting his way before yelling at his siblings.
"Oh COME ON! You guys are impressed by SHURIKENS when you're living with a GENIUS that builds tech on the daily basis and has even had the generosity to make you accessories! I take offense to this!"
"Donnie, last time ya made us tech, ya made a SHOCK COLLAR to try an' get Leo to stop making puns, ya made me a helmet that talked to me to try an' get me to make plans rather than going with the flow, an' ya basically turned Mikey into a beach ball with that inflatable suit ya game him. Also ya didn't even make anythin' for Sandro." Raph said, placing his hand on Donnie's shoulder with a strained smile on his face.
"Scoff! It was supposed to be a loving gesture towards my ungrateful brothers! Most of them, at least..." He shook Raph's hand off his shoulder and turned away, arms crossed and brows furrowed.
Behind him three out of four of his brothers were still talking about the new weapons.
"So how did you get these? Did you MAKE them?! How do they work? How is the acid stuff not burning holes through the shurikens, are they mystic?!" For once it was Mikey that was asking all sorts of questions, ones that Donnie might've asked had he been even the slightest bit interested in anything mystic.
"Yeah! They're mystic! That's how they work. The incendiary ones have fire charms embedded in the centers and once it hits its target they ignite, similar to the explosive ones!"
They had opened to floodgates for Sandro to infodump about his new weapons kind of like Donnie does, but he seemed MUCH happier rather than serious like Donnie was(spare the rare occasions where Donnie would get all smiley and stimming for being able to infodump)
"Oh, and the acidic ones have a special lining on the inside that's supposedly immune to the acid, but I had mystic energy mixed in just to make sure. When THESE ones hit their target, the point that hits the target injects the acid like spiders and snakes when they bite people. The corrosive ones are a bit harder to explain... I need to think about how to explain these ones. The paralytic ones speak for themselves, and Donnie~, I think you're gonna like what'cha hear about the paralytic ones!" He chirped, waiting for his purple-clad brother to stop sulking.
Donnie eventually let out a sigh and turned his head, looking at Sandro from the corner of his eye, then looking at Leo when he started talking.
"C'mon Dee, these are cool. And Sandro did say you'd like this next one. Would you like to explain exactly why he'd like to hear about this one, Sandro? 'Cause you haven't said anything about it yet and now I'm curious about them."
Sandro waited for Donnie and Raph to come over so he could tell them, too.
"So, do tell, my dear brother. How do the paralytic ones work?" Donnie mused, his tone sarcastic, but it was a genuine question.
"Two words that you like: science and technology!" He bounced up once with a grin, waiting for Donnies reaction, which was delayed by a few seconds.
When Donnie finally came to his senses from what he heard, his eyes lit up and he, too, started bouncing in place and smiling.
"You used SCIENCE?! You never use science! Let alone advanced technology!"
"Well it's not as advanced as yours, Dee, but it is still advanced. And if you don't believe me when I say no mystic energy was involved, you may check them yourself." He held the shuriken out to Donnie, who picked it up while putting his goggles on to take a closer look.
Just like Sandro had said, there was nothing mystic involved.
"Ugh, Donnie and Sandro are bonding again. Raph, Mikey, do you wanna go play DDR while these two dweebs geek out?" Raph nodded and followed Leo towards the arcade with Mikey hot on their tails to catch up.
Sandro was happy that he had gotten his brother to listen to him for once in a millenia. Maybe he'd be let back into the lab again and he could at least try to help without chewing on anything, even if his version of helping was just handing Donnie his tools.
"Ok, so the outside is a thin layer of titanium, and the inside has a mini 'dispenser' of sorts. That's where the paralytic comes in! It's a synthetic, temporary mixture of a deathstalker scorpion's venom! It's been modified to still paralyze the body, but not paralyze the victim's basic needs to, ya know, live, like their lungs and heart. Non-lethal paralytic! And like the acidic ones, it injects the concoction into the victim and BOOM!, they're on the floor in seconds!" He paused and looked side to side before smiling a little bit at his brother.
"Though if you're interested, I can probably find some stuff to make it lethal for you.~ Only for emergencies though, 'kay?" He playfully snapped at the last sentence and Donnie was silent for a moment at Sandro's statement before hugging him and yelling to him.
"I love you SO MUCH, I don't know WHEN you got this smart and started using scientific words it's awesome and now let's go make more shurikens I have SO MANY ideas for them!"
A small metal clang was heard when Sandro dropped his shuriken in slight shock, he... wasn't expecting this kind of reaction, but it was definitely a welcomed one! He hugged Donnie back tightly. He hadn't realized how much his missed his brother hugging him and that only made him happier to know that it was happening again.
Maybe this was his chance to reconnect with his little brother.
The 'dum-dum' and the genius working together! Yeah, that sounds like fun!
