Chapter Text
The day started out great for Izuku, the weather was beautiful so he could spend the entire morning in the field with the pokemon, feeding them and watching the healing progress of some, like the little deerling with the hurt leg that he found the other day in the woods, or the tauros that had been caught in a trap set buy poachers.
After lunch the boy decided to go to the city to get some provisions. Living outside of the city walls was useful for taking care of pokemons (the large spaces, not so frequent in the city, were a must for taking care of the creatures, since they come in so many different sizes, power and type, everyone of them needing specific treatments), but when in need of specific things the travel between the “Midoriya’s Kiseki Ranch” and the city of Masutafu, capital of the homonym kingdom, became a tiring and boring 1 hour walk, but needed nonetheless.
-Ok guys, I’m going to the city to buy some of the medical things, we’re running out. Lucario you coming with me?-
The pokemon nodded, getting up from his place in the ground playing with the little cleffa that was born just a month prior.
-Audino, please keep an eye in the others, Ampharos is already watching the field outside, so you should have less work than usual-
While talking he was getting a bag ready for the trip, when a little voice made itself known.
-I’m coming too, I’m coming too- A little Rowlet came flying from upstairs. -I wanna come too, please Izuuuu!!! I’ll be good I promise, you’ll never notice I’m there, I swear-
Izuku sighed. -Ok, ok, keep it down, you can come but you need to keep the promise you just made, or you’ll never come again-
-Yes yes yes, ‘ìll be good , I’ll always stay on your head promise- While saying this the flying pokemon sat on the head of the boy, getting comfortable for the trip.
-Bye guys, see you tonight- The travel went without much of a problem, the boy and pokemons talked almost all the way, only stopping when other people were nearby.
Being able to talk with the mystic creatures was a gift and a burden for Izuku. Being able to understand the pokemon was really useful when your life run around them, but from the other people point of view he was just a strange boy that talked to himself, faking the answers that the pokemon were supposed to say. Having lived in the city when he was little he was usually bullied by other kids saying that he was just trying to get attention from the grown ups and for being weird.
There was only one boy that didn’t really bully him, instead he asked every time what the pokemon where saying, because, as the little boy always said -to became the greatest legend ever lived you need the most powerful pokemon, and how can you get them to help you if you don’t understand them?-.
The little boy had this great dream that he always talked about, and Izuku hoped that he will achieve it sometime, even if after 4 years of knowing each other the boy just disappeared, without ever telling Izuku where he went. The only thing he remembered about him was his red eyes and blonde hair and the little cyndaquil that always followed him around. That pokemon was one of the most arrogant creature he had ever seen, but he had a soft side too.
Arrived at the city gate the guards checked the boy’s ID, a little card with the basic information about Izuku, after receiving permission to enter the city was in front of their eyes. The city was build on three levels: the lowest, where the four main entrance where located, was the common level, where most of the population lived, the houses were build one right next to each other, creating small and narrow streets, from every main entrances departed the main roads, that connected in a circle that run around the walls of the second level, where the aristocrats lived. The second level was about one fourth of the previous level, the houses were huge and each of them had a private garden, the roads were clean and well kept, each of them with a name from some historical legend. In the center of the city stood the royal castle, an imposing construction that overwhelmed the whole city, the main tower could be seen from every corner of the city, even in the most shabby street the castle took the view, the whitewalls and red decoration shined in the sun, making it difficult to not admire the magnificence of the building.
The group destination was the Market street, that is the circular road that ran along the wall of the second level, most of the shops where located there, especially the most important ones.
During the first hours of the afternoon the streets where mostly empty, those who weren’t at work preferred to stay away from the heat of the sun, so for the first hour inside the city Izuku Lucario and Rowlet where free to roam around without the need to be careful of every step they took.
After getting the necessary and stopping for a little snack the people began to invade the streets, Rowlet, despite what Izuku believed, stayed put on the greenet’s head, even when some kids asked to pet him he remained put.
After a bit of slalom between the people the boy took the main road to get back home, but right at that moment a cortege passed; all the people from the street were pushed aside to make way to, Izuku found out, the royal prince returning from an expedition in the nearest country Hosu, with probably another powerful pokemon in his retinue.
Izuku and lucario tried to stay in some parallel street to not get caught in the crowd, until Rowlet, maybe tired of doing what he promised to do, decided to fly away from the head of the green haired boy and follow the light coming from the center of the crowded street.
-Rowlet, where are you going, come back here!- shouted Izuku, trying in vain to stop the flying pokemon.
The little owl was flying over the head of the people, making it easier for Izuku to see him, but not to follow.
-Come back here you little…- Izuku jumped, catching Rowlet, but ending in the center of the road.
-Where do you think you were going?!-
-Get out of the way- A deep and powerful voice exclaimed behind the boy.
-Oh my arceus, I’m so sorry- The greenet said while turning around, already in a deep bow -my pokemon just flew off without me noticing, I’m so sorry for the trouble.-
-Mhff, next time try to keep a better eye on it- This time the voice was different, it had authority in it, like a command to make you do whatever they wanted.
Izuku looked up, and his green eyes met familiar red ones.
