Work Text:

EIJIROU SIGHED as he stared at the mirror door of the closet, his hands holding a tray of food. He nibbled his lower lip as he smelled the thick and heavy negative scent in the air. It was just a little bit, but Eijirou couldn't help the worry in his chest.

Slightly contemplating about entering the closet, he sighed once again as he walk towards the mirror door. He used his foot to open the door, sliding it to the right and he was bombarded with the scent right away. The scent so thick he fought the urge to whine as he smelled it. He poke his head through the door, finding the comfy nest made out of blankets, pillows, some clothes and plushies... and of course, there sat his husband.

His husband was nestled in the corner, staring blankly ahead of him, knees were up to his chest with his arms hugging them tightly. His blonde spikey hair was more messier than before, deflated even, and Eijirou can see the dry tracks of tears in his cheeks. Eyes puffy and there's eye bags resting under his usually sharp glaring eyes.

Eijirou's heart squeezed painfully tight seeing his usually strong husband so broken, so lost, so sad. Emitting a sad pheromone through the air, the scent of loneliness, of a bit anger, of devastation, dread, of... grief. His husband that was usually thickheaded and stubbornly strong, the usually foul mouthed Pomeranian... was now grieving in the corner as he sat in the unbearable sad silent.

"Hey, Kats," Eijirou called but he the latter didn't look up or even bat an eye at him. The blonde just continued to stare straight ahead. "I brought you your dinner, let's eat them?"

The blonde simply swallowed. "'M not hungry..." his voice is even quiet that it broke Eijirou's heart even more. Oh, to see his omega like this.

"But you didn't eat earlier, you didn't even touched the breakfast I brought you this morning," Eijirou insisted, coming close to the nest, dropping the tray carefully. The omega just ignored him and Eijirou sighed. "Kats, please eat. You will starve yourself and become weak if you don't eat."

"Don't wanna..." Katsuki answered in a very weak and silent whisper. He hugged himself tighter as he rested his chin in his knees. "Just... leave me alone, please."

Eijirou, of course, didn't listen. He didn't leave the closet and just stayed outside the nest. He moved the tray away, carefully placing it at the side of the wall as he sat at the other side, legs crossing on the floor. He crossed his arms, looking up in the ceiling drawing a very careful sigh.

Katsuki glanced at him from the corner of his eyes, watching him as he leaned back to the wall and relax to the floor. The blonde whip his head forward once again, staring blankly ahead, as he snuggled to himself even tighter. Silence wrapped themselves into the small walk in closet.

They stayed like that, the negative pheromones that Katsuki emitting somehow decreasing. Eijirou would also emit his own assuring alpha pheromones to somehow calm down the emotions and to give comfort to his omega. The blonde accepted that, inhaling the scents very carefully and slowly, letting himself bask into the safety scent of his alpha.

The stretch of silence seemed to grow. It was not awkward and uncomfortable either, it was comforting in a way. Letting their scents mingle and waft through the air somehow made Eijirou want to rumble affectionately. He wanted to hug his omega, shower him with affection and kisses, assure him that he will be alright, just let the man snuggle to him and he will snuggle back.

But he didn't want to come near him just yet, Katsuki would prefer to bottle his sufferings for himself. He doesn't want anyone be involved and Eijirou wouldn't like to push himself to his husband, he's just going to sit there, make sure Katsuki knows that he was there whenever needed, and let the blonde come to him and he would offer his comfort.

The redhead thought that the quietness would stretch even further until Katsuki speaks. "You know, I was never prepared for it..." he began and Eijirou glanced at him, shoulders unconsciously tensing a little. "... I don't even see myself being like that. Even in my younger years, the only dream I ever had was to become the number hero, to defeat All Might and to crash villains...

"Never did I remember crossing the thought even, though some of the omegas my age at that time wouldn't shut their mouth about having a family. I would just roll my eyes and tell them to shut their trap," he continued and Eijirou could see the tears welling up in his empty eyes, ready to flood his face once again. "For me that thing is bullshit. Just a waste of time, just a vulnerable asset for villains to use with the excuse to crush you."

Eijirou swallowed, sitting up straight. He stopped himself from stepping into the nest to sit on Katsuki's side and hug him. Not now at least, he'll wait until Katsuki told him to.

"Even until now, I..." Katsuki pursed his lips swallowing thickly as he burried half of his face in his crossed arms. "You know, I blame myself for that. T-They... they wouldn't be killed if... if I just listened..."

Eijirou closed his eyes firmly shut, swallowing the lump on his throat as he recalled that very memory...

The memory of the massive villain fight, they responded being there near at their patrol station, how they fought bloody and hell. They were all wounded, exhausted. He remembered seeing Katsuki all battered and bloody but the blonde refused to back down even though Eijirou told him to step aside. It was dangerous, a life and death situation of a fight.

Villains also refusing to stand down, almost fifteen to twenty heroes were there to fight just merely six but hella strong villains. He remembered how his alpha was telling him to keep his omega safe, he remembered telling Katsuki to be safe and to just stand down and step aside but of course, he's Katsuki Bakugou. King Explosion Murder God Dynamight didn't listen. Instead he fought and he fought until he injured his limbs.

Even though he was carrying a pup that time...

Eijirou remembered yelling at him to watch out as he saw the glimpse of the villain coming at the already exhausted Katsuki that time. Katsuki couldn't even stand straight at that time and panic surge to both of them as the blade of the villain surge forward to Katsuki's direction. He remembered screaming when he saw that 3-4 inch thick blade stab through Katsuki's stomach and Eijirou couldn't do anything but watch with dread as his husband was thrown away into the wall of the fallen building. The blonde's body collapsing and very limp into the ground as Eijirou just helplessly screaming and watching.

He couldn't do anything...

He remembered tearing that villain apart, limb after limb, flesh after flesh and blood dribbling his mouth as he bite the flesh off the villain's throat. He remembered going on a rampage and being calmed down by the other heroes around. He remembered the blackwhip of hero Deku holding him down as he calmed down and he came rushing beside the collapsed body of his husband. He was crying at the damage they had done to his precious omega and he didn't leave his side as Katsuki was sent to the hospital.

He also remembered being restless while the operation is being done, he remembered how the alpha in him would growl low in his throat everytime someone would come near him, refusing to be touched at the moment. He remembered the anxiety making him and the alpha inside him restless to the point they were fighting inside his brain making his head ache.

Then the doctors came out carrying both bad news and good news. Good news, Katsuki was now safe, wounds are deep but now repaired and stitched, and expected to wake any days from then on. Bad news?

... the thirteen weeks old pup he was carrying, died.

He recalled how Katsuki's face were washed up with pure dread and horror. How his whole body trembled and how he slumped back to the bed after hearing the bad news. How his tears never stopped on flowing from his eyes to his cheeks and chin. How his eyes lost its usual vibrant red color, how his lips wobbled as he bite back hiccups and sobs and how their world, Eijirou and Katsuki, crumbled before their very own eyes.

As Eijirou opened his eyes, he saw his husband now crying in the corner of the closet room. He was blaming himself for the lost of their most awaited pup. His regrets, sorrow, dread, grief, disdain was emitted through the pheromones wafting in the air. Eijirou's heart squeezed once again, painful and tight as he watched his mate crumble. His once sturdy, strong, stubborn and loud blonde mate was now crumbling, slumped against the wall as he blame himself and grieve at the lost.

"W-We didn't even know t-their gender yet... I-I didn't even know w-what to n-name them, I... I di-didn't even get t—to see their face... I-I..." the blonde choked through his sobs and he desperately clung to himself, hugging his knees tighter near his chest. "I'm... i-it's my fault... I-I'm a bad... I'm a b-bad omega, I di—didn't p-protect my pup, I d-didn't lis—ten, I should've s-step aside as y-you told me I-I... t-they should've be alive right now if it wasn't for me..."

His sobs echoing through the closet walls and Eijirou reached his hand to touch his knees, thumb circling into a gentle rub through the pyjama Katsuki was wearing. Eijirou also has his tears on his eyes as he watched how his mate curled to himself and sob helplessly. He couldn't take the sight of his crying omega, it crushes his heart as he watched him with tears endlessly flowing down his face.

Eijirou released his soothing pheromones and let his mate inhale through it, his blonde omega relaxed a little but is still crying at the corner. "Katsuki, stop blaming yourself," Eijirou whispered but it was enough for Katsuki to hear. "You're not at fault, you're not to blame. It was the villain that killed our pup."

"How can you say that?!" Katsuki whined. "It was my fault! He wouldn't be killed if I just listened to you—"

"Katsuki, stop that. You're just doing your job that time. It wasn't your fault," Eijirou swallowed thickly. His own alpha pheromones was being drowned by the frustrated and grieving scent Katsuki was releasing. "I'm not blaming you, no one is blaming you so you shouldn't blame yourself."

"B-But—!"

"Hush, Kats. Please," he mumbled. He stepped inside the nest as he reached another hand to caress the blonde's back very gently. "I don't like seeing you like this, please don't blame yourself. I'm at fault too... I should've done something but I just stood there and watch. I should've used my strength to shove the villain holding me and come to you both, but... so please, stop blaming yourself."

Katsuki whimpered as he reached for his alpha with a grabby hands to which Eijirou chuckled slightly. He plopped himself down beside Katsuki as he reached for him, arms coming around the smaller and fragile body as Katsuki nestled his face into the crook of his neck, inhaling the relaxing burnt wood and fresh soil scent. He felt his omega relaxed on him, body limping and slumping into Eijirou's comfort.

"Please, don't burden yourself alone with this, I'm here," Eijirou whispered affectionately into his hair, kissing his temple. He felt Katsuki relaxed even more as the negative pheromones he's releasing was decreasing. He tightened his arms around the curled figure. "We'll get through this, okay? We'll get through this together."

Katsuki simply sniffle as a purr began to rumble in his chest and Eijirou groaned softly and affectionately at the sound. He kept planting kisses in the blonde's temple, forehead, neck and earlobes as Katsuki relaxes even more at the comfort of his alpha, he's no longer crying and just sniffles and his purr was the only sound echoing in the walk in closet.

Staying like that for a few more moment, Eijirou shifted but he keep his omega close to himself, still curled up in his chest. Hands coming to pet the spikey (surprisingly soft) hair. "Kats, can I say something...?"

Katsuki unburied his face from his alpha's neck to look at Eijirou's face. Eijirou was looking at him, with a very soft and gentle expression, as if looking to a precious treasure which is him. His eyes practically gleaming with love and Katsuki wouldn't get tired on watching his alpha like that.

"Hmm...?" came his response.

Eijirou smiled fondly at him. "I love you," he said it as if it was the expensive, precious, forbidden in a way and magical word in the world. "I do and will always do. You know that right?"

Katsuki stared at him, with a his eyes fluttering as if ready to shed another rounds of tears. He whimpered as he tightened his grip on to the strong and large frame. The words he wanted to say back was trapped in his throat and only the sound of a soft but passionate and delicate whimpers and somehow, Eijirou understand that as he smiled down at him lovingly.

"I'm sure our little angel are happily watching us from above, he will guide us and protect us, I know it," Eijirou continued until there was a soft sob escaping from Katsuki's lips. "I'm also sure that they don't blame you. They love you as much as I do so they wouldn't blame you. They know that it isn't your fault and they know that you're a great hero..."

"I... 'm not..."

"Oh yes you are, my lovely mate," Eijirou cooed and he chuckled when the blonde tighten his hold to him. He smiled softly as he pressed his lips on the blonde's temple once again for a kiss. "Always remember that, okay love?"

Katsuki pursed his lips as he looked up at Eijirou once again and rubbed his cheeks on him, his purr getting louder and Eijirou's chest rumbled in return. Katsuki ghosted a kiss on Eijirou's cheeks and lips as he stared at the also red orbs. "I don't deserve you, Ei..." he said as he touched his forehead to his alpha and Eijirou cooed, rubbing their nose together. "I don't really deserve you..."

"I also don't, but I love you enough to have you..." Eijirou whispered, kissing Katsuki on the lips as he sat him properly on his lap. The omega snaked his arms around broad shoulders as he kissed back. The pulled away and Eijirou stared at his omega fondly, a soft smile gracing his lips once again. "I love you. I love you so much, Katsuki..."

Katsuki whimpered affectionately before he replied. "I love you too..."
