Work Text:
When he saw the group that was following after the curly green haired kid, Midoriya Izuku, Hitoshi decided to follow them.
Midoriya was the new foster kid at the group home he was currently staying at (his fosters didn't usually last long).
Hitoshi thought the way other people (adults and kids their age) treated him was bad since he had a villainous quirk, but the way Midoriya got treated was worse.
Turns out having no quirk at all was worse than having a bad one.
If he pretended he was invisible most of the time everyone else left him alone. There were people that picked on him anyway but it was mostly when he talked. They were mean to Midoriya all the time.
He tucked his hands into the front pocket of his too big purple hoodie as he was careful to take quiet steps after the group of two boys and two girls ahead of him. They were all older than him and Midoriya, with quirks everyone agreed were good for heroics.
The tallest boy is eleven and had long, metallic silver hair. His quirk allowed the metal from his hair to cover his body like armour. It could be jagged or smooth and he liked to make metal gloves over his hands that made his hits hurt more.
The second boy, ten years old, was slim with white hair and his quirk let him stretch his arms long. He used it to hit and punch well.
One of the girls was even getting adopted soon, she had the fur and ears like a leopard and was very strong for her quirk.
The final brown haired girl had horns like a ram and could stop things that were moving towards her with her quirk.
Hitoshi wasn’t even sure why he was following after them, he knew they were probably going to pick on the boy and he wasn’t going to be able to help.
The biggest boy of the group ran forward and shoved Midoriya into an alley while the other kids laughed. Hitoshi stopped for a moment, then crept forward to peek between the buildings. They were on the edge of town, between an apartment building and a convenience store that were right by the forest. Not many cars passed on the street since it was after supper time but it was almost summer so the sun was still up.
Hitoshi couldn't really tell what the other kids were saying to Midoriya but it didn't sound pleasant. One of the girls shoved him onto the ground.
He winced as he watched the boy scramble back. The skinny boy with white hair extended his hand out with his quirk, smacking Midoriya's shoulder and causing him to land flat on his back.
Hitoshi looked around anxiously but the only adult around was walking into the apartment building and probably wouldn't listen.
He heard a yelp of pain and spun around to see Midoriya curled up with his arms around his head.
Then there was a bright green flash and where Midoriya was there was now a fluffy green kitten.
Hitoshi's eyes widened as he realised Midoriya might have a quirk after all.
There was hushed muttering from the other kids as Midoriya shakily got up on his tiny paws.
A loud bang drew Hitoshi's attention and he realised the girl, who looked like a leopard, had lifted a heavy metal box and as she marched towards Midoriya he knew where she was going to put it down.
Hitoshi ran.
He scooped up Midoriya with one hand. His wrist scraped the ground.
He pulled the kitten close.
Hitoshi yelled at the other kids, "What are you doing?"
Three of them responded. He strained his quirk and told them, "Run away."
Three of them bolted but the girl with the metal box snarled at him.
Hugging Midoriya to his chest, Hitoshi sprinted for the trees.
He heard yelling but he ignored it as he tried to get away.
Without his concentration on his quirk the order he had given would fade fast. He had to escape the girl.
He knew the forest here well though, it was the only safe space he had.
This area had a lot of shorter trees but was very rocky. He quickly darted down a hill and ran to where he would be harder to find.
Hitoshi over trees and rocks, ran further into the forest than he had been before, and scrambled into a rock formation that made a cave. He was surprised when the surface underneath him made a muffled clang but he was far more concerned with not being found to care.
Panting for breath, Hitoshi tried to hear if they had been followed.
When his breathing was under control, Hitoshi leaned back and looked at where he held Midoriya against his chest in the dim light.
"I think they're gone for now," he told the other boy as he slowly let himself sit down.
Midoriya mewed softly.
"Can you change back?"
The kitten raised a paw and flexed his claws out. He shook his head.
Hitoshi sighed. "Well, we're safer here for now." Then he muttered, "They're going to muzzle me when we go back so I would rather stay here."
Midoriya made a sad mew and Hitoshi sighed again.
"You probably can only make cat sounds."
There was another mew but this one sounded very strange and Hitoshi giggled a bit. "Cats have different vocal chords, don't hurt yourself trying to talk."
He noticed that the fluffy dark green fur Midoriya had was kind of curly like his hair. In the dark he couldn't make out the colour of his eyes but Hitoshi thought they would probably be green like his human eyes were too.
That's when the opening to the cave snapped shut with a soft click, plunging them into complete darkness.
Hitoshi froze.
The floor started to vibrate and hum.
"No no no," he muttered, pushing himself up to his feet.
He stumbled forward in the dark, his free hand waving out in front of him.
His knuckles banged into a surface and he ignored the sting. Pressing his hand flat against it, he ran his fingers along it.
Midoriya's claws pricked into his skin as he started making scared meows.
The vibrations became shaking and Hitoshi had to lean against the wall to not fall down.
He started to silently cry in fear, the dark pressing around him.
Bright lights flicked on what seemed like forever after they turned off, startling him from where he was curled up against the wall.
Midoriya mewed loudly and Hitoshi let him escape his grip as he stared around them with wide eyes.
The walls, floor and ceiling around them were a dull grey colour. Packed from floor to ceiling were so many boxes that you could barely tell that there were walls behind them at all. The boxes came in all shapes and sizes. Light came not only from above, but from below.
Hitoshi could see where the blue tinged light was coming from a strip on the floor.
Before he got a better look at anything a dark green blur shot off into the room.
Realising it was Midoriya, Hitoshi scrambled after him.
He was not dealing with this alone!
Before he even boarded the ship Aizawa Shota knew something was wrong. The two students of Sekijiro Kan, because of course they were, had only been trusted with supervised missions before they went missing months ago. When they reported in, Aizawa had been sent to intercept them since he had been the closest to their location.
He now regretted accepting the transmission that had directed him to speak to these…two.
They were both insectoids, a species called gedirdeths. They had six arms, two legs and protective shells that covered a set of wings that were mostly used for hovering or communication. They had large, black compound eyes, pincers in front of their mouths and two forward facing antennae. Gedirdeths had dark grey exoskeletons that shone different colours in the light that depended on the individual. Rer’umeth's exoskeleton was blue and Sonich was green.
They had both been cagey about what they had picked up for selling. As someone who also participated in smuggling he could understand that, but he was their superior and when he asked for a report they. Should. Give. A. Report.
Since they clearly wouldn’t share it over transmission, Aizawa had demanded that they allow him to board. Rather than being upset by this, the two insectoids had seemed relieved by his insistence and eagerly closed the transmission to prepare their ship.
That was how Aizawa found himself staring at a screen that showed…this.
“Is that a green ee’rhasear kit?” The kit didn’t have enough limbs to be a member of his species but it had the feline body and appeared to be trying to communicate with the other being in the cargo hold with it.
One of the smugglers clicked in distress as he watched the one in the dirty purple clothing and purple head fur making noises at the kit who replied with sounds eerily similar to an upset ee’rhasear kit’s.
“N-no!” the second smuggler, Aizawa glanced back and noted that it was Rer'umeth that had replied while Sonich was still clicking in distress.
Aizawa noted that was probably because his black fur was fluffed with aggression as the tip of his tail began to lash.
“Oh?” he asked with deadly calm, keeping the display screen on the edge of his vision. Part of his attention was occupied with trying to keep a watch on the young that was without its guardian.
“No!” Sonich replied. “They are what is called a cat! It is a domesticated species that looks like ee’rhasears but they are companion animals!”
As Aizawa started to relax and turn back to the screen, Rer’umeth added, “They are both probably kits.”
Aizawa froze and felt his second set of eyes open as he turned his glare on Rer’umeth and Sonich. “Explain. Now.”
“We didn’t mean to!” Sonich hurried to click out.
“Yes!” Rer’umeth waved four of their six shiny blue arms, flexing their fingers in distress. “They snuck on before take-off!”
“We had left the cargo door open but closed it with the automated system before take-off,” Sonich added.
“They must have got on after we finished securing the cargo!” Rer’umeth hurried to add, as if that made this better.
Sonich ran green tinted fingers over one set of arms in an embarrassed gesture. “We didn’t notice they were there until after we had left the planet. There were many satellites around the planet! Flying between so many obstacles while remaining undetected was difficult.”
“When doing a check of the cargo after we had reached light speed to ensure no damage had been done to the goods we noticed them on the screens,” Rer’umeth added as A’zwa grew more incredulous by the second.
“You took off from a planet with two unsecured minors in the cargo hold,” Aizawa repeated, words lacking any tone.
Both insectoids hunched in on themselves as their wings buzzed with anxiety.
“It sounds worse when you say it like that,” Sonich replied after a moment.
Swallowing back a hiss, Aizawa covered all four of his eyes with two paws. Forcing himself not to add a threatening rumble to his words, he asked, “What species is the other being?”
When they didn’t answer right away, Aizawa lowered his paws and looked at them with just his yellow eyes, keeping his power cancelling red eyes closed.
“Well?”
“It is called a ‘human.’ They’re…well,” Rer’umeth trailed off before finishing the thought.
“They’re the main sapient lifeform of the planet we found them on,” Sonich rushed to add.
This time Aizawa didn’t hold back his hiss of displeasure, his fur flaring as he struggled to keep his red eyes closed. His tail rattled against the floor threateningly as he asked, “Where did you steal the kits from?”
Both of the smugglers cringed.
“Well…” Rer’umeth started.
“We don’t know!” Sonich said in a pleading voice.
“You. Don’t know,” Aizawa repeated incredulously.
“We got lost!” Rer’umeth explained.
“And then we got more lost!”
“But we found a planet with so many different kinds of goods that would sell so well!” Rer’umeth added.
“The kits ate some of it,” Sonich clarified.
“We were hiding our trail so no one would be able to tell where we had gotten the stolen goods!”
“That’s when we got even more lost,” Sonich pitched in.
“But then we realised we knew where we were!”
“We got transmissions again that showed we were back in familiar space,” Sonich again.
“So we found ourselves back to where our group is from and sent a transmission to say we were back!”
“They didn’t tell us you were coming though,” Sonich added. “So we kind of deleted our travel logs.”
“We thought you were with the IHPSC,” Rer’umeth said sheepishly.
There was a moment where Aizawa didn’t even know how to react to how poorly they had handled everything. That moment passed and he was no longer able to keep his red eyes closed as his tail rattled against the floor once more.
“You mean to tell me you have no idea where the kits have come from and you have no idea how to get them back home,” his voice had a threatening rumble to it.
The two cowered closer together, their back shells rattling in distress as they cringed away from his now towering height.
“...yes,” Rer’umeth clicked out in a barely audible tone.
“But they can eat everything that we can! They can still be cared for,” Sonich added.
Turning away from the two, Aizawa stomped to the door. “Stay here,” he ordered.
He heard agreeing clicks as he marched down the hall, his anger making his tail lash in barely restrained fury. There was a reason they did not trade in any live goods from planets that were not well researched. Having kits taken from their planets unable to ever be returned was on the top of the list.
They had stolen a sapient kit and his young companion.
And now it was Aizawa’s job to make sure they did not perish from stress or anything else.
Holding back a growl as he approached the door to the cargo hold Aizawa forced himself to take calming breaths. He needed to appear as non-threatening as possible to try and communicate with the young who were sure to be upset.
Aizawa rolled his top shoulders and adjusted his loose black wrap with his slimmer middle limbs. His front paws flexed, claws revealing themselves before relaxing back into their sheaths.
Giving himself a shake to force his fur flat once more, Aizawa flicked his ears towards the door. He could hear the sharp sounds of young voices but could not make out the enunciation of what was sure to be words of the purple one. His light coloured head fur had matched the colour of his top from what Aizawa could remember.
Deciding to try and make himself appear smaller, Aizawa allowed his posture to shift so he was now standing on four paws. His more delicate middle paws, some called them hands but a paw was a paw, checked to make sure he didn’t dislodge his clothing before one pressed the button to open the door.
With the door open the slightly sweet smell of the young hit his nose and he scented their distressed undertones. The sounds of conversation stopped dead.
Concerned, Aizawa peaked his head through the doorway to look around. His gaze locked onto the purple eyes of the purple kit.
That’s when chaos erupted.
Izuku was scared.
He had been scared since his mother died, so that wasn’t strange.
What was strange was being stuck in a room with piles and piles of boxes with Shinso Hitoshi going who knows where while also a tiny kitten.
There was a shower and what they had discovered was a toilet but Izuku had failed to turn back into his human shape so he hadn’t been able to use either well. He could use the toilet! He couldn’t flush it though…
The room they were in was big and tall (even for a human! Everything seemed tall as a kitten but Hitoshi thought it was tall too). They thought there were three doors but they couldn’t open any of them so they weren’t sure. The lights dimmed regularly so they thought they had been in the room at least two weeks.
Hitoshi thought they had been kidnapped but Izuku wasn’t sure. Why would they be kept in a room with a bunch of food and other things all in boxes if they were kidnapped?
Sadly, Izuku couldn’t explain this to his friend (he had a new friend now! They had to be friends if Hitoshi was so nice to him, right?). He could make some sounds that were like words but making sounds that weren’t meows was hard!
Izuku huffed and sat down at the base of one of the piles of boxes, tail flicking impatiently.
“The box must have insulted you,” Hitoshi drawled from behind him.
He noticed Hitoshi did that, avoided asking questions. He thought it was because of Hitoshi’s quirk but he couldn’t ask.
Izuku mewed loudly and shook his head.
“Well, if–”
Hitoshi’s voice cut off as they both heard a soft snick noise.
Izuku spun around to face the noise, landing on his feet with his back arched slightly.
The door was open.
It was a door!
A large, black furred head slowly poked in. The face looked like a cross between a mountain lion and an african lion. Short muzzle with pointed black ears and a ruff around its neck that looked like a short mane. Yellow eyes locked onto Hitoshi.
Izuku felt his fur stand on end, he hissed loudly and charged towards the dark coloured intruder.
“Izuku! No!” Hitoshi yelled and Izuku heard him coming after him but he was focused on his target.
Yellow eyes flickered to him and widened as he launched himself towards the big cat, claws extended.
Before he could land on the cat’s nose he was caught in a giant black paw. Determined, Izuku wrapped clawed paws in the thick fur and tried to bury his teeth into a tough pad. His teeth didn’t go deep but he heard a sharply in-drawn breath.
Then the paw he was in shook slightly as Hitoshi yelled, “No! Let him go!”
He heard a hit and then he was picked up from the paw he was held by to another set of furred hands. He yowled in rage but a fabric held his paws and a hand cradled his chest so he couldn't bite down.
"Let us go!" Hitoshi yelled and the body he was held against jerked as Izuku growled.
The chest he was pressed against started to hum and then he heard soft singing.
Izuku froze and looked at Hitoshi to see he wasn't moving anymore either.
Was the cat-quirked person who had kidnapped them singing?
Hitoshi met his eyes and then looked up at where the dark furred person's face was.
"Why are you singing?" he asked in a confused voice.
The person holding them didn't answer, just kept singing, but they didn't hold Izuku as tight.
That's when he realised they weren't singing in a language he recognised.
Izuku mewed quietly and the hands around him moved so that one big yellow eye could see him.
The sung words rumbled deep in the person's chest as they looked at Hitoshi again.
"I don't think any adult has sung to me since my parents died."
Hitoshi's words made him sad but even his mother hadn't sung to him much before she died.
He mewed at Hitoshi sadly which drew the adult's attention again. The hand cradling his chest moved to gently feel along his head and back. Then it eased away the blanket keeping him restricted to touch his shoulders and sides. Izuku turned his head to sniff at it.
The hand smelled like some kind of soap and a bit like the oil used on machines. He sneezed, which made Hitoshi giggle.
He huffed and continued his inspection of the hand. The fur on it was very short and the tips of the fingers looked a lot like his own toe beans in this form. That was when he noticed that the hand was shaped strangely. There were three fingers instead of four and the skin between them was connected up further, almost like paws.
The thing was the person also had another set of arms which were currently holding Hitoshi. Their second set of arms were thicker with hands that were even more like the paws of a large predator. While their middle limbs folded the same as Hitoshi's, the top limbs were more cat-like with where their joints were.
That's when Izuku went back to studying their face. Yellow eyes met his and Izuku looked down below that to see another set of eyes that were closed.
Mewing in shock, Izuku reached up with a paw to touch their face.
What could their quirk be?!
Shota held back an amused huff as he stopped singing so he could touch his nose to the tiny green paw.
He was beginning to doubt that the smugglers were right about the little one not being sapient. Then again, with how similar the young one was to an ee’rhasear kit he knew he was biassed.
The little paw tapped his nose twice before the kit braced themself on his arm to place the other front paw on his face as well. He allowed the kit to explore while he looked at the other kit to see how they were doing.
Having so much exposed skin with a patch of fur was unusual but the kit didn't appear to be unhealthy. They were far more relaxed than they had been when Shota had trapped them to prevent them from hitting him more. He shifted his grip on them so he was cradling them close rather than retraining them which brought a bit more tension to their muscles before he settled.
A tiny sound drew his attention back to the green kit who was almost climbing his face at this point.
If the kits were content how they were he saw no reason to not indulge the curious kit. With a soft sigh, Shota closed his eyes and dipped his head so the green kit could reach it better.
He felt the purple one move as the green one gently touched his lower eyes but the calm way they made the gesture meant that Shota didn't feel the need to react. When a hand started carding through the fur along his jaw Shota knew he was right.
He allowed himself to softly pur as the green kit patted his upper eyes, which made the purple one make a chittering type of sound again. Shota was curious what it meant but there was no way for them to speak together without a translator which neither of the kits would have.
Shota carefully moved so he was sitting on the hard floor of the cargo hold with both kits. The green kit was exploring his ears now while the purple one ran their hands through his fur. If it made them more comfortable he was happy to allow them the time to get familiar with him.
Besides, they had been without a guardian for an extended amount of time, they probably needed reassuring touch to settle.
Shota allowed his purring to grow louder, satisfied with how this interaction had gone. It was unusual that they had grown calm so quickly but he hoped they now viewed him as a safe adult.
It would make the acclimation to their new lives easier.
Shota didn't allow himself to stop purring as he tried to think of what they needed to do next. Usually any kits that UA found were returned to their families. Some of the adult members did have kits but they weren't involved with any missions.
His husbands had been talking about adopting. With their less than legal activities they didn't have access to the usual channels to foster kits. There were kits they rescued at times that did not have parents to return to, and that gave adults of their group the opportunity to take them in if the kits agreed.
If he made a good impression and his husbands liked them, maybe they could keep these two.
Hitoshi was probably enjoying this more than he should.
He knew he was being cradled against the person who had probably helped steal them away from their foster home but it was hard to be scared when Izuku was using their face as a jungle gym.
Besides, their fur was so soft and they didn't mind Hitoshi petting them. He buried his fingers deep in their thick ruff and wondered what kind of cat mutation they had. It wasn't a cat that he was familiar with and their second set of arms didn't make it any easier to figure out.
Hitoshi knew cats, it was something he was allowed to look up at the library and learn about. Most mutations looked like a species found on Earth but he had no idea about this person.
He had always wanted a cat and now he was with two that liked him!
Well… kind of. They both were people too but that just made them liking him more surprising.
"They're nicer than our fosters," Hitoshi said quietly to Izuku.
Izuku twisted around so he could see Hitoshi's face and made a questioning mew.
"I don't think any of the fosters I've had would sing to us or let us do all this with them." He petted the fur next to Izuku to show what he meant as Izuku silently watched. "Being trapped sucked but they also may not have caught us on purpose." Hitoshi had thought about it a lot but the space they were in made no sense for a kidnapping.
Izuku mewed again and the person opened one yellow eye to look at Hitoshi.
He wrinkled his nose. "Having a shower with better soap would be nice but," he hesitated before saying the rest. "I kind of wish we could stay here. No one has been around to bully us and we could eat whatever we wanted in here."
Izuku slid down the person's face and landed on Hitoshi's chest. He then butted his head against Hitoshi's face and started loudly purring. Hitoshi smiled a little and curled a hand around Izuku's small body.
The arms around him tightened slightly and then the person holding them rose to their feet.
Hitoshi grabbed at their clothes, eyes widening in surprise. Izuku even squeaked.
The rumble the adult was making sounded more amused than like a pur before they stopped making sounds and started walking.
"I wonder where we're going," Hitoshi whispered to Izuku who leaned up so he could see the dull grey hallway they were now moving down.
They reached a door that the adult pushed a button to open. It led to another hallway with a door at the end. This door required typing on a keypad with symbols Hitoshi didn't recognise. There was a small room on the other side with yet another door with a keypad.
"I hope we're supposed to be here," Hitoshi whispered to Izuku who patted his chest with a paw.
When they got through the door Hitoshi gasped in surprise.
They were in an airplane?!
He hadn't been on one before but he's seen pictures and the front looks just like this. There were the windows and the seats with all the buttons and dials. It looked more digital than he remembered but was probably more advanced!
He wiggled to try to get down and was gently set on his feet.
Hitoshi ran over to look out the windows, excited to see all the stars but… where was the ground?
"Are we in space?" Hitoshi whispered in shock.
Izuku mewed in response, triggering his quirk but he ignored it. The kitten was leaned forward in his arms but Hitoshi didn't take his eyes off the window. He stood on his tiptoes to try and see further down when a paw curled around his shoulder to stop him.
He turned enough to look up into the yellow eyes of the adult behind him. "We're in space."
Once again there was no response, the adult definitely spoke another language.
He was gently pushed towards one of the seats.
Shota lifted the kits into one of the co-pilot seats. His mind on so many things right now but making sure the kits were comfortable and safe was his top priority.
After they were seated he opened one of the compartments near the seat they were in and pulled out one of Hizashi’s puzzle toys. It was a box that when the parts were moved correctly could open to reveal a secret compartment. Hizashi never put anything in it but had figured out how it worked so he’d lost interest in it.
Holding it in his middle paws, he showed the purple kit how the pieces could move and then handed it to him. The kit set the green kit in his lap as he rotated the puzzle and poked at it. The green kit seemed just as fascinated with it.
Swallowing back an amused rumble, Aizawa turned to the screens and tried to prioritise what he needed to do.
First, making sure anything from the smugglers that the kits might need was taken with him. He shot a message to the ship he was still connected to requesting that they find out what the kits had eaten so he could take some of it with him.
Next, informing UA about the kits that were now present in his ship. He didn’t want them to make a decision about where the kits would go before he spoke to his husbands though.
Skipping that task, he shot Hizashi and Oboro a message in their private channel, asking for a call as soon as possible and explaining that it wasn’t an emergency but it was time sensitive.
He could put off reporting to UA but he couldn’t do it for long.
With that completed he went over to where their storage was. He may have stored small flight harnesses that were adjustable to most body types in his ship when his husbands had started talking about adopting. He resisted the urge to tilt his ears back in embarrassment though his tail did flick.
Shota found them neatly stored in a drawer that pulled out. Picking one for green was easy, it was the smallest size that he had put away (hopefully it fit). He took a few sizes for purple and took them to the spare seat. There was no need to have the kits wear them longer than necessary and a glance showed they were both still occupied with the puzzle.
With the kits occupied he sat down in the pilot seat and began composing his message to UA. He didn't plan on sending it yet but there was no reason not to write it.
Before he was halfway through he received a com notice of a request for a video transmission.
Shota checked to make sure the sound would come through the earpiece he wore so the kits wouldn't be startled by the sound and accepted the transmission.
He let out a sigh of relief as both his husbands became visible on screen.
Hizashi's beautiful yellow feathers were fluffed with concern but he couldn't hide the pleased chirp he made when the video connected. He waved slightly with one wing. His hands clasped together in front of his chest.
Oboro's brown scales shimmered as he rocked slightly from side to side in anxiety, his light blue mane that went from the back of his head to the tip of his tail shifted around like steam and was also a good indication of his worry.
Both visibly relaxed when they saw him.
Shota rolled his eyes. "I told you I was fine," he grumbled.
Oboro lifted one brown paw from the ground to cover his blue eyes. "Shota, you said it wasn't an emergency, not that you hadn't been hurt."
Hizashi clicked his beak in agreement, though his feathers were flatter so he was calming down. "You once said you were fine while holding a knife that was sticking out of your shoulder," he reminded.
Oboro ran his paw down one side of his muzzle, nostrils flaring. "Or that time he had a concussion and tried to convince us not to take him to a healer."
Shota felt his fur rising in embarrassment.
"Or–"
He cut Hizashi off. "Yes, I get it. Can we focus on why I asked you to call?"
Both his husbands nodded, looking serious.
"You know that I was told to meet the smugglers who had returned after being missing." He paused and they shared a glance before nodding again.
"They're both idiots." It drew a snicker from Oboro and an amused rise of crest feathers from Hizashi. "You'll both agree," he defended. "They accidentally kidnapped kits and we have no way of returning them."
Both his husbands stopped looking amused.
"Did they have flock?" Hizashi asked in concern.
Shota shook his head. "They don't have translators. They're not from a registered planet."
Oboro winced and they both nodded grimly.
"Does that mean you want us to take them?" Hizashi asked, his green eyes practically sparkling with hope.
Oboro's eyes widened before a grin curled his lips.
Shota huffed and crossed both sets of his arms. "You were the ones making plans," he grumbled.
"Oh! Can we see the cuties! I want to see the hatchlings," Oboro said, looking like he was about to vibrate with excitement.
Hizashi's crest feathers were raised again with his wings flared, also showing his excitement. He bobbed his head in agreement.
Shota debated for a moment and looked over at the kits. Green was watching him closely and Purple looked at him as soon as he looked over.
"If I do that, will you both promise to be quiet?" He looked back at his husbands. "They're only just starting to trust me and they haven't had an adult around in weeks."
Oboro raised a paw in agreement and Hizashi bobbed his head again.
"I'm going to switch it over so they can hear you first, that way they can tell you can see them. I don't even know what technology they had on their planet," he said with a sigh as switched the sound settings so he could hear his husbands through the speakers.
"They didn't save recordings from the planet?" Hizashi asked through the speakers.
"Probably not," Shota muttered before turning back to the kits.
Izuku jumped when he could suddenly hear a bird. He looked towards the front of the ship with wide eyes.
Was a bird trapped in the spaceship with them?
When the cat quirked person (alien?) walked towards them, he watched them instead, curious. It did seem like they had been on a call before…
The person rumbled something soothing and then carefully picked Hitoshi up with Izuku still on his lap!
Izuku squeaked as Hitoshi wrapped an arm around him to pull him close.
He wriggled around to try and see what was going on but it was hard with so many arms in the way!
The cat person sat down and moved their arms so they could see the screen in front of them.
Izuku gasped in surprise.
There was a bird quirked person and a dragon quirked person!
The bird was yellow with blue clothing that matched the blue wrap the brown dragon was wearing. Their feathers were mostly shades of yellow with a bit of orange near their orange beak which was mostly covered in feathers too! They had bright green eyes and arms with brown scale covered hands. It was hard to see how many fingers on each hand but there were probably less than five!
Their crest raised in a big line on their head and Izuku saw two big wings rise too! They made a cooing sound that Izuku realised they were probably the bird from earlier!
The dragon made a rumbly noise which drew his wide eyes. They had deep blue eyes and shiny brown scales. He couldn't see any hands but he could see part of their body so they probably stood on four paws! They had a wispy light blue mane down the back of their neck and back. There were also two white horns on their head and pointy brown ears like the cat person's.
"I don't know if they're aliens or not," Hitoshi whispered.
Thinking about it, Izuku knew they probably were aliens. He tried to say so but it came out as a loud mew.
The cat alien looked down at him with yellow eyes as the bird one made more cooing sounds.
"I don't think the adults speak cat either," Hitoshi said, sounding amused as he ran a finger down Izuku's back.
Huffing, Izuku decided he was done being a kitten.
He turned his attention inwards and concentrated. There had to be a way to change back! Poking at the energy inside himself he wished really hard to be back as a human.
Izuku felt a really strange sensation all over his body and then he started falling!
Gasping, he flailed his arms and was caught by a fuzzy arm. He squeaked as he was pulled back up and moved around.
"You flash really bright when you do that." He saw that Hitoshi was rubbing his eyes and pouted.
"I don't do it on purpose!" he whined.
Hitoshi gave him a surprised look and Izuku crossed his arms.
"You know what my quirk is," Hitoshi said.
Izuku gave him a surprised look back. He knew the other kids said Hitoshi's quirk was Brainwashing so he shouldn't talk to him.
"Yes, I know."
"If I ask you something and you answer I can make you do things," Hitoshi said.
Izuku frowned at him. "I knoooow."
"People don't talk to me when they know."
"Well that's mean," Izuku told him.
Hitoshi started to cry without making a sound.
"Are you okay?" Izuku uncrossed his arms.
Hitoshi launched himself at Izuku, hugging him tight as he cried. Izuku wrapped his arms around the other boy as the furry arms around them tightened.
Shota held the two kits close as they held each other, his ears laid back in sympathy as purple cried. They weren't loud sounds but they were definitely sounds of distress.
"Should we go?" Oboro asked.
Humming a no, Shota answered, "It helped them calm down when I sang."
Hizashi puffed up slightly, then his feathers settled and he began to sing.
Shota tuned out the words as he focused on the kits. He had almost let green fall to the floor because he had been so surprised when they shifted into a human. At least now he knew he was right about how smart green was.
The kits seemed to begin relaxing so Shota signalled with a hand that it was working.
Oboro joined in to Hizashi's song and Shota found himself relaxing slightly as well. The kit stopped crying and Shota's ears swivelled forward.
The speakers weren't high quality so the sound wasn't as good as he was used to but he missed his husbands.
Green said something and then both kits were watching his husbands, causing Hizashi to preen.
Holding back an amused sound, Shota kept most of his attention on the kits.
With how fascinated they seemed with his husbands he had no doubt they would get along when they did meet. There would probably be some misunderstandings and hardships in the future but he and his husbands were keeping these kits. They would acquire translators so that the kits could communicate with them and explain it to them.
Shota looked forward to their future together.
