"Ranpo knew. Of course he knew, he was Ranpo. He forced himself to be a more light sleeper once he noticed Fukuzawa avoiding him at night. With his clever brain he was aware that he'd done something, said something that startled the older man. Which he didn't like at all. Fukuzawa became more guarded, no longer walking inside the room without knocking and always avoiding Ranpo when he changed. As much as the young detective loved knowing he had that effect on Fukuzawa he hated being ignored. And he was going to do something about it."
