The PLF is defeated. How? I don't know, I'm not gonna explain it, they just are, AFO got killed much earlier on bc Dabi wasn't there as an ally so the destruction is minimized, idk please just imagine it bc I don't wanna write it TToTT
Some Heroes died, others were permanently disabled (including Shouta who now has a prosthetic right leg and a glass right eye), but a win is a win and the Aizawa-Yamada-Fubuki (Rie's maiden name which the children all took) household goes out to dinner to celebrate especially now that Shouta is medically cleared. They have a great time together before everyone leaves for their respective homes (everyone lives on their own now except Shouto who still lives with Shouta and Hizashi). Yuki started fronting part way through dinner and is the one who returns to the Hi Keitou's apartment. As she gets ready for bed, though, someone knocks on the door and would you look at that: it's Hawks, not Quirkless but permanently wingless and unable to return to Hero work. Yuki has never met him before, though, so when he says he's a friend of Touya's but they haven't seen each other in years, she takes him at face value and lets him stay the night since he's recently homeless (the Commission owned his apartment and since he doesn't work for them anymore he's completely on his own on the streets).
They introduce themselves and it's a little awkward and bittersweet on Hawks' end, but the night passes without issues. Touya wakes up early every day to go for a morning run, and when he gets back, Hawks is eating in his kitchen. It's a mess, and Hawks admits that the Commission had kept tabs on the Hi Keitou and Fubukis ever since the trial and knew everyone's addresses, and Touya ends up telling Hawks to leave. Hawks does so, albeit depressed. However, the next morning while on his run again, Touya sees Hawks sleeping on a park bench, and it's a cold spring. Touya reluctantly drags Hawks back to the apartment with the explanation that even if they weren't friends anymore, Touya still doesn't want to see Hawks suffer, and the nearby homeless shelters were struggling enough as it was thanks to the war destroying as many homes as it did. He asks why Hawks doesn't go to some new fancy apartment since he's a Hero, Hawks explains that after he lost his wings (to Shigaraki this time) the Commission fired him and took his apartment for some other Hero to use instead. Touya says that's fucked up but not much else.
Eventually, Dabi fronts around Hawks and loses it a bit bc their last memory of Hawks was him basically calling the entire system dangerous and insane and even though it seemed like a "confession" under duress it HURT, Hawks cries and swears that he's only there until he finds a job and his own place. Then the twins see him again and are BEYOND ecstatic to have their friend back. This scene is super sweet and fluffy and Keigo cries, but this time the tears are happy.
The system hasn't told the siblings or guardians that Keigo is staying with them, but Touya does tell Rei who advises he also tell his therapist (Ryouki-sensei from the previous fic) and maybe try to get to know the current Keigo to see if that's someone he could ever be friends with again. He takes that advice and things between them go from semi-hostile to awkward but okay, and Keigo remarks that he doesn't remember Touya fronting for such long periods. Touya says the Commission made that difficult, but not in a way that puts any guilt or blame on Keigo.
Touya sees Ryouki-sensei and they do a deep dive into Touya’s feelings about Hawks and Keigo bc he’s kind of separating the two: Hawks is the Commission’s bitch & Keigo was his friend. “But the Commission abandoned him.” “He’s still loyal to their asses. I asked that intern of his what all happened at the raid, and apparently he killed a villain he’d considered a friend. So he hasn’t changed at all, really.” “So you don’t think he deserves another chance? Or that he has the capacity to change?” “Not really.” “But you wish he did.” “...yeah. I know he tried starting a bunch of different programs to help at-risk kids, but he let ten years go by without any kind of contact.” “Do you miss your friend?” “Of course I do.” “Well, now that he’s not under the Commission’s control, maybe you’ll be able to find that friend again. If you genuinely want him back.” There's gonna be a mention that the system has been involved (as a civilian) in some villain attacks that Hawks responded to, but he completely ignored them then, too.
Keigo and the system continue to get to know each other now, how they've changed since they last knew each other, and all of that, and even Dabi starts warming up again, too. Eventually, Keigo has a mental breakdown in the middle of the night, and everything he's felt and experienced just comes pouring out of him to Touya who breaks down a bit too, and it's messy but afterwards the air feels clearer than it ever has and they agree to start over together.
The next week goes by even better and more easily than the previous weeks, and Touya eventually asks how Keigo's job search is going. The issue is he has no skills outside of Hero work and barely a legal identity, so Touya suggests talking to Nezu about working at Yuuei, even if only part-time. Keigo ends up becoming a sort of TA to Touya's class so he can learn the ropes and potentially get his own class to teach.
Some night later, Dabi finds Keigo waking up from a horrible nightmare, and they decide to bring Keigo to Ryouki-sensei for therapy. We don't see the session, but Keigo returns from it feeling a little better. The Fubukis have since learned that Keigo is staying with the Hi Keitou, and Fuyumi slips to Rumi (her gf) that that's where Keigo is, so guess who's trying to break down the door to see her vanished-off-the-face-of-the-earth friend? Yakedo fronts and tries to flirt with Rumi but Rumi is taken thanks and Keigo is just there like "wait who are you???" and a few more intros are made and it's cute. There will be some scenes of just Rumi and Keigo hanging out where she figures out that Keigo is still in love with Touya and Dabi.
After even more domestic fluff of Keigo and the Hi Keitou living together, Rumi and Ryouki-sensei convince Keigo to confess his feelings and he does so to Touya first. It's awkward in a cute way, and they decide to try to make it work. Dabi and Touya are actually kinda together already themselves (and Dabi and Yakedo sometimes sleep together but it's an aromantic relationship) and anyway they say they'll all do their best to figure things out together and see if they can make things work.
The three (Dabi and Touya co-con p much the entire time) go on their first date together and it's super cute and fluffy, starting with a picnic and street food then ending with some stargazing and a kiss <3<3<3
At some point there's a family dinner where everyone brings their s/o's, so Fuyumi's there with Rumi, Natsuo with his gf who still doesn't have a name (afaik), Shouto with Bakugou, and now Touya/Dabi with Keigo (and of course the married erasermic). It's fun, cute, chaotic, and domestic <3
Some years pass and the Hi Keitou + Keigo move into a bigger apartment together with a view, and Dabi & Touya co-con propose to Keigo. The last chapter is their wedding, small and simple but beautiful and full of warmth and family. Everything ends happily and good <3
There may be a bonus smut chapter but that's TBD for when/if I decide to write out all of this lol.
