The door closed with a soft sound, blocking the noise of rain falling outside without showing any signs of stopping. Water dripped down his hair and clothes as he bent down to take off his shoes, grimacing at the traces of mud left over by them. In the morning, when he left for his class, the sky was clear with no signs of approaching rain. Dan Heng didn’t take his umbrella with him and regretted his decision of leaving when the class ended and he had to rush back without a cover.
He knew that if he called, Ren would bring him an umbrella since their apartment wasn’t that far but… that meant dealing with him being insufferable for the rest of the day and Dan Heng really cherished his sanity, thank you very much.
Just as he was about to take off his jacket, his gaze fell on the shoes thrown carelessly at the entrance and frowned. This man…, he cursed his roommate in his head as he straightened the shoes. Before long, a shadow fell over him and he glanced up to see a tall figure standing in front of him, blocking the light.
“The first thing you do after coming back home soaked to the bones is straighten the shoes,” Ren commented in a mocking tone and Dan Heng sighed before moving forward and taking off his soaked jacket, followed by his bag. He wondered if the notebooks inside it were safe or if like everything, they were dripping water now.
“I wouldn’t have to if you took off your shoes like a civilized person,” he retorted in a tired voice.
As they walked inside the apartment, he could see some vegetable peels on the kitchen counter and something cooking on the stove. Ren didn’t say anything so he didn’t bother inquiring and eyed his own clothes disgustingly. A hot shower sounded like heaven and he dropped his keys on the counter, not caring if they fell in the ugly cup Ren bought in which they kept the keys to the apartment.
As he turned, he almost ran into Ren who silently crept up behind him like a cat. Dan Heng raised a questioning brow to which, Ren’s hand reached forward and caught a wet lock of his dark hair between his fingers, lips pursed in a straight line when his warm fingers came in contact with the cold skin of his forehead. Then, his fingers crept forward and pulled down the fabric of the turtleneck he was wearing, making him shiver and dart a glance at the other man. Ren’s gaze was focused on the red marks adorning Dan Heng’s neck, the marks that he put there last night.
A satisfied expression crept across his face, earning him a kick from the shorter man on his calf.
“Behave,” Dan Heng warned him before swatting his hand away and going towards his - well, their room since Ren slept there more than he did in his own room.
Expectedly, Ren followed him inside and watched as Dan Heng grabbed a change of clothes and headed toward the bathroom. All the while, Dan Heng could feel the intense gaze of the other man on him. Just as he was about to close the door to the bathroom, a foot appeared in the middle of the small gap between the door and the doorframe, making him unable to shut it. Ren was standing on the other side, staring at him and Dan Heng only blinked.
Then, using all his strength, tried to close the door with Ren’s foot still between the gap.
A click of tongue followed by a low chuckle and then Ren was pushing the door open all the way, crowding Dan Heng against the counter.
“You thought that would stop me?” Ren asked, brows raised as his lips quirked up at one corner in a smirk.
“No,” Dan Heng answered him honestly before adding, “It felt satisfying though.” Placing a hand on the taller man’s chest, he pushed him away. “Now get out.”
Wandering hands came around his waist and gripped the edges of his turtleneck, about to push it up before Dan Heng placed his hands on top of Ren’s to stop him.
With his brows furrowed in a frown, he asked bemusedly, “What are you doing?”
Ren gave him a faux innocent look before answering, “Helping you.”
“Did I ask for help?” he asked, pinching the hand that had lifted his shirt up to his ribs.
“Let me help you,” Ren amended his words with a grin and - Before the other could get a word in, the other man was already pushing him against the wall, one hand grabbing his wrists and securing them above his head.
At first, he tried to free himself from the tight grasp but as more seconds passed, he couldn’t help but surrender. Ren’s one hand continued to caress the skin underneath his clothes while the other kept Dan Heng’s wrists firmly in his hold. He was trapped…
…But he didn’t want to get away either.
It took only a few moments of coaxing for him to give in and respond to the kiss, parting his lips when the other licked them a few times, fingers curling and uncurling above him. Ren’s body leaned even closer to his, close enough for him to almost hear his heartbeat and feel the heat of the other’s body.
Leaving his mouth, Ren left a trail of kisses down to his neck where he began to suck on a mark that he left there last night, causing Dan Heng to gasp. Teeth edged around the area before clamping down on the skin, making him cry out in pain. He’d never understand why Ren was so obsessed with leaving marks.
Finally, Ren captured his lips again in a kiss, leaving him panting for breath as the other continued to kiss him like his life depended on it. The hand holding his wrists finally released them and Dan Heng’s hands went to the other’s back, wrinkling Ren’s clothes due to his tight hold.
And then –
Just as quickly as it began, it was over.
Dan Heng blinked in a daze as Ren bent down to pick up the fallen clothes – when did he drop them? – before handing them to him. Then, he brought his hand forward and placed his hand on Dan Heng’s forehead, making him dart a confused look the other’s way.
“That warmed you up,” Ren said.
“Asshole,” Dan Heng muttered and was rewarded with a kiss at the corner of his mouth and Ren finally left, but not before flashing him a grin.
He kept standing there for a few more moments, catching his breath, before shaking his head and closing the door.
…the asshole did make him soup after that, so Dan Heng didn’t question his very questionable warming-up techniques.
