Summary
You were happy to lead a quiet life with a job you enjoyed and a wonderful little cabin you could easily afford. So what if there were some dangerous mers in the water? It wasn't like you were going to take a swim or challenge them or otherwise provoke actions that ended in your premature demise.
Right up until a handful of assholes got it into their heads to kidnap a young mer kid and you had two choices, look the other way or help.
