Work Text:
A noise was heard from her front door.
"Who's there?!" Jean shouts.
She had just woken up from her sleep due to the noise from her door. She just wanted to get a good night's rest after another tiring day. She wasn't expecting any visitors this late at night. She was annoyed by the sudden disturbance. Who could be knocking at her door in the middle of the night?
"May I help you?"
She was then instantly cut off by the familiar face that was standing in front of her.
"Diluc?" She asks
"Jean" he breathes out.
He was panting heavily. Jean didn't need to scan his body to see. He was badly injured everywhere. Blood dripped from his figure. His face was covered in cuts and bruises. He was an absolute mess.
"Come inside, i'll help you"
She wraps her arm around his waist for he needed all the support he could get. Diluc could tell she had so many questions by the expression written on her face but it was overpowered with the amount of worry and concern she had for him. She lies him down on the couch then proceeds to heal him. He shivers under her touch. Her soft hands over his rough ones. A gentle expression visible, clearly focused on what she was doing. It was silent for a while.
"What happened?"
"I was ambushed" Diluc held his head down.
"You should've been more careful"
"Sorry..."
Silence
Jean then stood up "Go wash up i have some clothes in the closet that you could use ill go cook you some soup". I think what Jean meant by clothes he could use, she meant clothes that he owns. Diluc never actually took everything with him when he moved out. After their breakup he left some things behind, maybe on purpose. He then went to the bathroom to bathe when he had finally finished. He went through her (his) closet to look for clothes. He then noticed how clean his clothes were, seemingly untouched. His scent was still visible but with a mix of dandelion. He then surveyed all over the room. His memories were all coming back to him. Oh how'd he miss her. But now it's all long gone. He quickly changed before he could catch a tear streaming down his face. When he exited the room he could see a bowl of soup laying on the dining table.
"Your staying in the guest room tonight, i had already prepared everything for you"
"Jean.."
"all your essentials are there if you need anything just call me"
She was never this blunt to him, if anything that was him. He didn't enjoy this new attitude of hers but who could blame her? After he had left her, her behavior towards him was reasonable. He was the one who caused this.
"I miss you"
He says to the girl before him. The girl who is now so far away from his reach. She felt so far away. These words stop Jean on her tracks. Astounded by the sudden confession. She was hurt. She was hurt that he could still say that when it was him that left her. She was hurt that he could still be thinking of himself. She is hurt. Did he not once think about her feelings? How she felt? She hates how everything is still about him even now. She, too, misses him but her pride refuses to believe so. But right now, at this moment, she feels vulnerable.
"Is everything still all about you?" his eyes turned wide at her response.
"I-"
"What about me?" Her tears were pouring.
"I miss you too, did you ever think of that?"
He clenches his fist completely unaware of his effect on her.
" I wanted you to stay. I begged you to stay. Why couldn't you stay?" She says angrily.
"Please stay, '' she whispers, but it was loud enough for him to hear.
He never knew he hurt this badly, her overwhelming sorrow. He wraps his arms around her as an attempt to provide her comfort. Ironic isn't it? The person who is causing her pain is also the same person who is providing her comfort.
"I'm not leaving you. Not again not ever." She continues to sob uncontrollably under his touch.
Diluc's shirt turned wet due to her tears. But this also helped wash off all of the burdens Diluc had been carrying. It made him feel relieved. Oh the wonders Jean could do to him. Jean then looked up to face him, her face still wet from all of her crying. He wiped her tears away, they then stared into each other's eyes with Diluc's hand resting on her cheek. He then slowly leaned in, Jean was shocked by his advances but didn't move away. 2...1 their lips were sealed into a kiss. His hand trailing off her back while the other was untying her hair. They stayed in that position for a while until they pulled away to catch some air. A smile graces on her lips, the same ones he kissed. He found it quite contagious as he found himself smiling too. He holds her hand and takes her to her room where they cuddle as they fall asleep. He was glad he made the right decision to go to her.
