Chapter Text
Strolling down the streets of downtown Austin, T.K. Strand was holding his fiancé's hand as they enjoyed their ice cream cones.
"Carlos Reyes, is that you!!?" A voice sounded from behind them.
Turning around, T.K. locked eyes on a man around their age with wavy blonde hair, tan skin, and sunglasses perched on his head.
Mumbling something incoherently, Carlos plastered on a smile as he waved at the man.
"Carlos, it's been such a long time, I had to take a double take. And who might this be? Is this your new boy toy?" The unknown man said, turning to look at T.K.
Still standing with the smile, Carlos appeared to shake out of his reverie as he introduced T.K.
"T.K., this is Trent, my first boyfriend, if that's what you can call it that. Trent, this is T.K., my fiancé."
Reaching out his hand to shake Trent's, T.K. kept watch on Carlos in his periphery.
"You finally managed to snag down a man for good, Carlos? When I knew you, you were too much of a control freak to date. As soon as I dumped you I knew I had made such a good decision. Well, T.K., watch out for Carlos here, he's so controlling you probably won't make it to your wedding day! If that happens, give me a call, you look like a cool dude." Trent said with a wink.
The more Trent spoke, the more T.K. could see tears forming in Carlos' eyes and his cheeks heating up in embarrassment. By the time Trent winked at T.K., Carlos had dropped his ice cream cone and ran from the spot they were standing.
Wanting to lunge at Trent and punch him, T.K. resisted the urge as his priority was Carlos. But before he hurried after Carlos, he laid some parting words for Trent.
"What is your problem, dude? To bring him down like that in public? Yes, Carlos is a control freak, but he's MY control freak, and he's the sweetest, most caring fiancé I could ever wish for. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go comfort my future husband."
Hurrying down the sidewalk, T.K. spotted Carlos hunched over on a bench. Making a beeline for the bench, T.K. sat down, immediately wrapping his arms around Carlos. Pulling Carlos into his chest, T.K. let him cry into his shirt, not minding that it got more damp the longer Carlos cried.
After a few minutes, Carlos straightened up, sniffling. "He's right you know. I am a control freak. Maybe he's right about us not making it to our wedding day, what if you don't want me anymore?"
Shocked, T.K. brought a hand under Carlos' chin and nudged his face up so Carlos was looking at him. "Carlos, I love that you're my control freak. You're loving, caring and protective of me, and those are some of your qualities that make you amazing. I love you, and I can't wait to call you my husband. Now, come on, let's grab some ice cream from the grocery store, go home, and eat it while cuddling up in bed. I love you." T.K. said, as he stood up, kissing Carlos on the forehead and tugging him up.
