Chapter Text
When Jaiden came back from her work trip all she expected was Bobby and Roier to welcome her with open arms and warm smiles. To ask if they had a fun time by themselves and to tell them about her work trip, but as she opened her eyes to see the 2nd floor of the home she shared with Roier and Bobby she was met with the loud and incessant noise of someone banging on the front door.
“Hello? Hello? I know you’re in there! You’re inside, I can hear you.” She heard someone calling. Jaiden looked down towards the door in fear, certain that she hadn’t made that much noise.
The knocking continued as Jaiden tiptoed upstairs and to Bobby’s room. She hoped her son was upstairs, or at the very least left his gun somewhere so she could protect herself.
“Jaiden? Are you home now?” Roier called from outside the house, but the knocking continued from the front door.
“Roier!” Jaiden couldn’t help but shout in relief.
“Hello- Oh, hey Roier. Can you let me in? I need to talk to your wife.” The person, who she was pretty sure was Quackity, asked Roier.
“Wha-Que? Jaiden no es mi esposa!” Roier said. Jaiden made her way downstairs knowing that whoever was knocking on her door wasn’t some lunatic.
She heard the door open as Quackity and Roier entered the house at the same time she started walking down the last set of stairs.
“Why do you need me for?” Jaiden asked. Quackity looked down as if that was the answer before looking back up and around them.
“Tilin? Where are you?” Quackity asked before looking to Roier, who was looking around the area too.
“Jaiden? No has visto a Bobby?” Roier asked before opening the door again and stepping out, Quackity following behind him and Jaiden following behind him.
“Bobby? Where are you?”Jaiden called out before getting barreled down and falling on her face.
“Bobby! Where were you?” Roier called from above and plucked the thing on top of her off.
“Hey you little shit, where’s my daughter?” Quackity asked as Jaiden lifted herself.
Bobby from Roier’s arms started to wiggle around, arms outstretched towards Jaiden in the universal sign of wanting to be held by someone else. Jaiden opened her arms so Roier could switch him over, but before he could do that Quackity grabbed one of Jaiden’s wrists and dragged her away from her family.
“You see them all the time, I need you to look after Tilin before someone else asks you to,” Quackity said as they walked to the castle.
“Why would someone else ask me to watch Tilin for you?” Jaiden asked, playing dumb just to get on his nerves. Sure enough, the question got Quackity to stop walking and look at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Have you not seen the quests for today?” Quackity asked. Jaiden shook her head before grabbing her communicator to look at the quest book.
“Boys have a boy's night, girls have a girl's night?” Jaiden read the first quest aloud.
“Yeah, and you’re the only girl on the island, so… please watch my daughter for me today and make sure she has the best time of her life,” Quackity said as he continued pulling her into the construction of the castle.
“Uh, okay! You know I like watching after Tilin! They’re a very sweet kid.” Jaiden said before Quackity stopped walking and she bumped into him.
“Tilin! Why are you hiding over here?” Quackity asked as he ran to his child, who was plucking all the purple flowers Roier had placed around the courtyard of the castle.
Tilin placed a sign down, Quackity and Jaiden waiting to see what they wrote.
I wanted to get you flowers Tilin wrote. Jaiden cooed and saw the smile bloom across Quackity’s face before pressing his lips together.
“It’s dangerous to be by yourself. Who knows what could have happened if I hadn’t found you.” Quackity said. Tilin broke her sign down before placing it down again.
I’m sorry :( The new sign said. Quackity just sighed before petting the top of their shell.
“Just don’t do it again, okay?” Quackity said before receiving a nod from his kid. “Okay, well, it’s time for you to go on a trip with your Tia Jaiden. Remember how we talked about this?”
Tilin jumped up and down before tossing a lilac to Jaiden.
“Oh, thank you! I love it.” Jaiden said as she picked up the flower.
“Okay! Now, go, go, go! I’ll let you borrow my boat, now go!” Quackity urged as he pushed Jaiden and Tilin out of the castle courtyard and towards the river in front of the avian hybrids' house.
“Wha- let me say goodbye to Bobby and Roier first!” Jaiden said, trying to get out of Quackity’s grip.
“I’ll tell them for you!” Quackity said before placing his boat down and putting Tilin in the driver's spot. “Tilin, you remember the spot I told you would make a beautiful spot to make a cabin? Yeah, you should go there with your Tia.”
“Roier! Bobby!” Jaiden called out. Her fellow avian hybrid tried to shush her, but she could tell that her family heard her as the front door swung open.
“Quackity, what the fuck?!” Roier called as Bobby made a beeline to start hitting the older guy.
“Ow, Bobby! What the fuck!?” Quackity yelled as he was downed by Jaiden and Roier’s son causing him to lie down on the ground. Jaiden watched as Tilin hopped out of the boat to pick her dad up before Bobby tried to take her down as well.
“Hey! Bobby! No hitting!” Roier ordered as he got in Bobby’s way. Jaiden walked to Quackity to revive him before focusing on Tilin.
“Hey, you okay Tilin? Do you have food?” Jaiden worried before sighing in relief when the egg nodded her head.
“Bobby! Para!” Roier said just as Bobby walked through his legs to get to Jaiden.
“I’m sorry Bobby, but I have to take Tilin on a trip,” Jaiden said as she grabbed her son in her arms. Bobby growled in her arms, trying to wiggle out of her grip to probably start hitting Tilin again.
“I know! I know! I just got back from my trip, but it’ll only be for one night. I promise.” Jaiden tried to reason. Across from her, she heard Roier gasp loudly.
“But Jaiden! We were going to go on adventures as a family!” Roier bemoaned, Bobby nodded his head.
“I-I know! But today’s quest says I have to go on a girl’s trip with the eggs! And I’ll only be gone tonight. Just one more night away, you won’t even notice!” Jaiden said. Bobby started to wiggle in her arms in anger again. Roier walked over to them before grabbing their son out of her arms.
“You say it’s with all the eggs,” Roier started to say, looking between Jaiden and Tilin before his eyes landed on Quackity. “But I only see one of the girl eggs here.”
“No hablo espanol,” Quackity said as he tried to shove Jaiden and Tilin back in the boat.
“Ey! Quackity! Don’t be such a dick man!” Roier said, one arm holding onto Bobby and the other trying to push Quackity away from Jaiden.
From the side of her vision, she caught movement over the mountain. Feeling panic rise in her again she tried twisting away before stumbling and causing Roier, Bobby, Quackity, and herself to fall into the river.
She wasn’t sure why at that moment her wings decided to materialize, she was still very new to this whole hybrid thing. She was sure she would have drowned if someone hadn’t pulled her out of the water.
Gasping for air she searched for Bobby, who was soaking wet but thankfully okay if him diving into her chest was any sign.
“It’s okay, I’m okay,” Jaiden said as she hugged him back and patted the top of his shell.
From above her, she heard Quackity and Roier arguing in Spanish, plus a brand new voice cutting into the conversation in English. Looking away from Bobby she saw Tilin and Tallulah looking at them.
“Hi guys, how are you?” Jaiden asked, her wings ruffling behind her before trying to encase all of them.
“Oh, Jaiden, do you think you could watch Tallulah today?” Wilbur asked as Roier and Quackity continued to argue.
“No, she’s watching Tilin today!” Quackity cut in before Jaiden could answer. That caused Roier to start arguing with him again.
Jaiden felt a pull on her sleeve causing her to be distracted from the conversation once more.
I’m fine Tia Jaiden
Why are you wet?
Tallulah wrote to her. Jaiden nervously laughed, scratching the back of her neck.
“Oh, uh, I was getting a little scared and anxious. Quackity was pulling me to his boat and Roier was pulling me away from him when I saw you and your dad over the hill and I thought you guys were monsters, soo… I accidentally made us fall into the river.” Jaiden explained. Tallulah nodded her head before giving her a hug. Bobby shifted in his spot, most likely to hit her away, but Jaiden squeezed him a little bit harder as a reassurance.
“Oh, hey guys!” Charlie called out to them, Juanaflippa in his arms. Quackity groaned and Jaiden couldn’t help but laugh at the predicament. Just from behind the slime hybrid was Foolish being passed up by Leonarda, who dove into the river to get to Jaiden’s little group of eggs.
“I don’t think the boat is big enough for all five of us,” Jaiden said as Charlie walked over the bridge and placed his daughter down on the ground.
“Ahh, I’m sure you could split the group in two.” Foolish said as he swam around the river in front of them.
“No! Jaiden se queda aqui. She’s staying home.” Roier cut in, obviously tired of his partner getting pushed into situations unwillingly. As if agreeing with his dad’s statement, Bobby jumped out of her arms and did his little crouch dance.
“Roier, it’s fine,” Jaiden reassured, her wings now unfurling and returning to her back. Except they didn’t return back to her tattoo, staying out as if waiting for something bad to happen again.
“But Jaiden,” Roier started to say before Jaiden cut him off.
“No, really, it’s fine,” Jaiden said, finally getting up from the ground. “If I can help the eggs complete their quests then I will.”
“Thanks, Jaiden,” Wilbur said.
“It’s not a problem. I will need to change into new clothes though, before we leave.” Jaiden said as she walked to the front door of her shared house.
“Yep! That’s okay, we’ll be waiting out here for ya!” Foolish shouted back.
~~~
Bobby had to be held back by all five dads as Jaiden was led away by Leonarda in her boat as they went to finish the quests for the day. It broke her heart to hear him vocalize his anger, something he rarely did, and it obviously affected Tallulah if her high-pitched whine meant anything.
“It’s okay Tallulah! Bobby is just sad I have to leave again after coming home.” Jaiden explained as they got further and further away. Tallulah hummed from the back of the boat before pulling out her etch-a-sketch to write something to her. Jaiden turned around from her spot in the passenger seat, keeping an eye for what Tallulah was going to say as well as Tilin and Juanaflippa in their own boat just slightly behind them.
I’m sorry we took you away from your family :(
“No, no! Don’t be sorry! It’s part of the quests today!” Jaiden explained as Leo slowed the boat down and parked it at the side of a beautiful beachy area. Jaiden got out of the boat as well, with Tallulah hoping out to stand at the edge of the beach. She hopped up and down to get Tilin and Juanaflippa’s attention as they got closer before they too parked their boat and followed them inland.
“Seriously though, Bobby will be fine! With how the quests are worded he’ll be having a boy's night with the other eggs!” Jaiden explained further, hoping her happy tone would make the youngest egg feel better.
If you say so… Tallulah wrote out, looking down at the ground. Jaiden smiled sadly, patting the top of her shell before getting punched in the side.
“Ow!” Jaiden yelped before looking at Leo, who was crouching up and down in front of a purple sign.
Let’s build a house! Leo’s sign read. Jaiden took her communicator to look at the quests again.
- Have a girl’s/boy’s day with an egg!
- Build something to remember the day
- Be healthy, eat a fruit or vegetable
- Take a picture to send back home
“Yeah, we can totally do that,” Jaiden said, making Leo jump up and down in joy, with the three other eggs following her lead. Jaiden watched as the red cap-wearing egg placed another sign down.
Can I build it? Leo wrote. Jaiden nodded her head in answer, watching as they instantly started chopping down some trees.
She felt a tug on her sleeve and saw three more signs written out for her.
Can I make a garden?
I want to make a treehouse!
Can I get a pet??
Tallulah, Juanaflippa, and Tilin’s signs read respectively. Jaiden nodded her head and watched as the girls all went their own way, but thankfully stayed close by.
Jaiden sighed, mind drifting back to Bobby back home as she got torches to light the area.
Time passed by both slowly and quickly. Jaiden was astonished by how quickly the girls had gotten everything they wanted to do. Leo had finished the little cabin they would be staying in for the night first before she went to help Juana in making her tree house. Tallulah had also finished her garden just a little after Leo finished and went to go help Tilin by making a pen for the Komodo dragon they had found.
“Okay, Leo, come down here so I can take a picture of you in front of the cabin,” Jaiden called out as the sun started to set. Leo hopped out of the treehouse and landed a perfect water bucket mlg just as Jaiden got her camera out.
“Okay, say cheese!” Jaiden said as she snapped the photo. From above she caught some leaf blocks and saw Juanaflippa jumping up and down. Jaiden walked back to get a better photo of the glasses-wearing egg, zooming in just a bit before snapping the next picture.
“And now your turn!” Jaiden joyfully said as she turned around to Tallulah and Tilin. Thankfully the area they were in caught both the animal pen and flower garden. As Jaiden snapped the photo, the sun framing the two eggs beautifully she noticed something just to the side. Or more specifically, someone.
“Good evening,” Osito Bimbo said as soon as the camera shutter went off. Tilin jumped in front of Tallulah, her gun in hand as she pointed it at the robot.
“Osito Bimbo!” Jaiden happily called out to them. She was about to get closer to them when a small hand grabbed onto some of her fingers, stopping her dead in her tracks.
Jaiden looked down to see Juanaflippa sticking to her side, gun pointed right at Osito Bimbo just like Tilin. Stumbling over her words she couldn’t help but be led slowly to the beach cabin. In front of her, she saw Tilin grab Tallulah’s hand as she led the youngest egg toward Jaiden and Juana before Leo popped up and stood in front of all of them.
“How are you?” Osito Bimbo asked, not bothered by having three guns pointed at it. Jaiden stuttered, not sure what to say just as a pink sign was placed just to the side.
Are they bad? Tallulah asked. Tilin and Juanaflippa nodded their heads yes as Jaiden pressed her lips together in uncertainty.
Jaiden wanted to disagree. Osito Bimbo could be creepy, yeah, but they gave her Ari! They had to be a little nice if they gave her her bird.
Osito Bimbo jumped up and down to most likely grab their attention again.
“Umm… We’re okay. A little hungry though.” Jaiden replied. Osito Bimbo jumped up and down again while nodding its head.
“Yes, yes,” It said before throwing some strawberries and carrots at them.
“Oh! Thank you,” Jaiden said as she went to grab the food.
“Aaah!” Tallulah shouted, causing Jaiden to stop in her tracks. At the same time Tilin, Leo, and Juana shot at the food, causing it to turn into mush on the ground.
“Okay… no strawberries or carrots,” Jaiden commented. “I’m sure I have something in my backpack to give you guys if you’re really against those.”
Osito Bimbo tilted its head, crouching down and slowly inching closer to them. Jaiden let herself be pushed up against the door to the beach cabin as the girls stepped further away from it.
“Osito Bimbo, it's nice to see you, but you’re kind of scaring the girls.” Jaiden tried to reason. Osito Bimbo stood up and tilted its head.
“I hope you enjoy your stay on the island.” Osito Bimbo said before turning around and walking into the forest.
Jaiden felt Juanaflippa’s grip on her hand loosen and watched as the three girls with guns lowered them before turning to Jaiden and giving her a hug.
“Oh, guys, it’s okay, everything is okay-” Jaiden tried to say when a loud whoosh cut her off. Her communicator buzzed with an achievement.
The end?
Jaiden looked at the girls as if they would have an answer when the door in front of them opened suddenly. Jaiden whipped her head to the inside of the cabin, eyes locking in on a fully activated end portal on the ground. There were so many noises happening at once, the sound of a sign being put down, Tallulah vocalizing her worry, Jaiden’s communicator buzzing up a storm on the wooden floor of the cabin, and the rushing blood to her ears.
But the sound that caught her attention the most was the sound of someone getting punched.
It was as if everything was happening in slow motion as she saw Juanaflippa get punched into the portal. She watched as the egg twisted around, hand outstretched in the hope of grabbing something to hold onto. As if in answer both Tallulah and Tilin’s hands shot out to grab onto one of hers, stopping her from entering the portal just barely. Jaiden looped her arms around Tallulah and Tilin’s small bodies in the hope of lifting them away from the portal, but from the side of her eye, she saw Leonarda peeking over to see what was happening.
And it happened again. Someone punched Leonarda, but this time, no one was there to grab onto her.
“LEO!” Jaiden shouted as she watched the egg stare at her in shock as her body jumped in pain. She unlooped her arm from around Tallulah in hopes of grabbing onto her, but her fingers just barely grazed Leo’s. And in Leo landed, her body disappearing into the inky black portal.
“NO!” Jaiden shouted once more just as Juanaflippa, Tallulah, and Tilin vocalized their own shock.
If Jaiden had been given her own decision she would have followed after Leonarda by herself, but it seems like someone made that decision for her as she was punched into the portal just like they tried with Juanaflippa, and succeeded with Leo.
And because of the way Jaiden was blocking the remaining three eggs with her body, she took them with her into the portal.
Just let them be safe,
was Jaiden’s last thought as her vision disappeared from her and everything seemed to come to an end.
