Chapter 1: Saturday Night

Chapter Text

Her leg was killing her. She knew she shouldn't have engaged with that guy but he couldn't take a hint. She had just wanted to get back to her dorm and go to bed after a long day of patrol and paperwork. The guy on the bus had seemed harmless enough, being overly flirtatious maybe, but she figured he would leave her alone after a bit. Instead he got off at the same stop and continued cat calling her. She finally had enough and turned to yell at him when he shot spines at her. She deflected most of them but one stuck in her leg. The pain wasn't so bad though that she couldn't still kick his butt. He finally got the hint after a few well aimed hits and ran off.

She didn't want to have to wake anyone up to explain it all or get in trouble for fighting so she did her best to get to the dorms with out being noticed. She did a pretty good job too, until she got to the dorms themselves. The building would alert Aizawa if the doors were opened after curfew even with her code and she was supposed have been back hours ago. So instead of going through the front she decided to float up to her balcony and get in that way.

She skirted around to the back of the building and looked up to find her balcony, she was pretty sure she had left her towel out to dry on the railing so it should be pretty easy to locate. She must have lost more blood than she thought because looking up and trying to keep her weight off her leg was making her dizzy and she stumbled into a tree.

She finally spotted her towel and took some steadying breaths before activating her quirk on herself. She instantly grew dizzier and nauseous.

Crap, she wasn't going to make it.

She grabbed the railing of the balcony below hers and propelled herself up and grabbed her own railing and tumbled over it releasing her quirk and landing with a thump and a groan. She just laid there for a second before she almost jumped out of her skin when her sliding door slammed open.

"Cheeks? What the heck are doing on my balcony?"

She pressed her hand to her chest and took a deep breath. "This is my balcony, so I should be asking you what the heck you are doing in my room Bakugou."

Suddenly a sharp pain went through her leg and she sucked in air through her teeth. "You know what I don't care what your doing, can you just help me get inside? I have a med kit under my bed and I need to use it."

"Tch, what are you talking about." He reached back into the room and turned on the porch light. She heard him swear under his breath and he grabbed the towel (which now that she was close was definitely black and not navy blue like hers) and kneeled next to her to lay it out next to her.

"Can you scoot on to the towel? I have a med kit too."

"Um, I think so." She gingerly scooted over onto the towel and winced when her leg with the spine moved. "Holy crap that hurts."

"What the heck happened to you?" Bakugou asked as he looked at her leg. "And why didn't you go strait to recovery girl?"

"Can we get inside before you grill me? I think I can float the towel without throwing up." But before she could he grabbed her wrist.

"No way. Let me carry you in, I'd rather not have to clean up puke and blood on the same night."

"Jeeze, fine. If it's that important to you." She probably should have fought him about it, but as he picked her up, towel and all, another wave of nausea and pain hit her and she realized she would have thrown up all over him if she had tried to use her quirk. He set her down on the bed and she gasped at the pain again.

"This thing needs to come out before I pass out." She could hear him rustling around his desk and then he set a first aid kit on the bed next to her and started pulling things out.

"Here, take this." He said and all but shoved some pills into her hand and motioned to a water bottle on the night stand.

She quickly washed the pills down with the water and gripped the comforter in her hands, pinkies out so she didn't float it by mistake.

"OK, I'm ready. Just pull it out and douse it with alcohol." She was passed caring if she was being rude, she just wanted the quill out of her leg.

He looked into her eyes and she could tell he had questions. "Quill first, questions after."

She nodded and then squeezed her eyes shut and turned her face into the pillow. As he pulled it out she screamed through her teeth, glad she had turned into the pillow. She took deep breaths, inhaling the burnt sugar smell of the fabric and let her tears soak into it.

Bakugou was a surprisingly good nurse. He quickly cut off the bottom leg of her leggings and disinfected the hole left behind, closing it up with temporary stitches tape and then bandaged it up really well. Not once did he comment on the tears streaming from her eyes.

"You should still go get checked out by recovery girl," He said as he cleaned up and packed the unused supplies back up, "you have lost a lot of blood and it's possible that you will need a few real stitches."

When he was done he picked up the quill and studied it "This looks like a giant porcupine quill. What did you do to get stabbed by this Cheeks?"

She huffed out a sigh as she sat herself up against the headboard. "I guess you deserve to know since you helped me." He just lifted his eyebrow at her so she went on, "A guy was bugging me on the way home from Gun Heads. He followed me off the bus and wouldn't back off even after I told him I wasn't interested and when I turned around to tell him off again he shot these at me. I fought him and he ran but I got stuck with his calling card. At least he wasn't poisonous."

A snap brought her attention back to him, he had snapped the quill in his grip.

"Are you ok?" She looked at his face and she could see the rage building in his eyes, "look, I'm fine. Chill out ok?"

She reached out to touch his arm but he jerked back and stood up. He started pacing back and forth, his hands setting off tiny sparks as he ranted.

"I hate guys like that. I could kill him. They think that they can do whatever they want to people and get away with it. Good thing your tough and have hero training, I can't imagine...." He cut himself off and sat back down in his desk chair. "Your going to report this right? He needs to be taken out."

She nodded her head, feeling the pain killers kicking in. "Ya in the morning. I just need some sleep first."

She started to get up to head to her own room when he pushed her shoulders back down. "Just lay down, I'm not going to let you attempt to drag yourself to your room and pass out half way there. I'm cramming tonight anyway so I'll make sure you don't die in your sleep." She hated that he was probably right. She was used to the nausea associated with her quirk but this was way worse.

Her eyes were already feeling heavy even as she wanted to protest against his pushiness. "Thanks Katsuki, I owe you one." She barely registered his shocked face as she drifted off into sleep.
