Summary
The creature moves and bobs like a puppet between the shadows and the light, parts of its body visible long enough for the brain to imprint and for the consciousness to start considering flight or last will and testament. Her deep, crackling voice, like a voice recording that had been recorded on cassette tape, then taken through five filters on some ancient analog keyboard, before becoming lost for a thousand years into the future, the rust of time and abandonment having deformed the recording into a horror show.
In hindsight, Max should have known his night was going to go haywire.
