Work Text:
Li lay with her back on the mattress, head slightly propped up on the pillow she used. Kota lay on top of her, head on her stomach and the rest of his body between her legs and down. As Li carded her fingers through his hair, Kota's shaking eventually subsided. Rolling to a more comfortable position with his head still in her lap and her fingers in his hair, he spoke.
"So, about the nightmare-," Li interrupted him.
"Hush. You need to rest, as dreams can also have a toll on your physical body if they are too extreme. You need to sleep, and I have no doubt that you will talk to me if you feel like it. Now, sleep, or I shall roll over and go to sleep myself." It was an empty threat, and both of them knew it. She loved him too much to do that to him; teasing was just how Li showed her love and respect for him. As Kota dragged himself up from her lap, Li smiled and scooted over to make room on the bed for him. Kota lay back down, this time next to her; head tucked into her chest and the blanket pulled up to his chin. Though Kota was a grown man, his wife never judged him for his emotions and weak moments, as Li knew she would have her own in the coming months of her pregnancy. After all, he was human, and he was allowed emotions- just like her. It was one of the things Li loved about him, his willingness and ability to show and express his emotions no matter what people thought of him. Kota eventually drifted off, content and in love; ever grateful for his wife, his guiding star in the night. As she eventually drifted off as well, Li thought of the perfect name for their child.
"Aster," she whispered into the still room, drifting off into sleep with a smile on her face. Since Li was faced away from the window with drapes pulled shut and eyes her closed, she didn't have the chance to notice the shooting star passing above the house when she whispered her child's name into existence.
