Summary
The problem always had been that when fire burned so brightly, the ice melted in its wake, and all it ever left behind was remnants, altered into something new and different and unrecognisable. Diluc had always been the fire searing his brittle, icy core away.
The whole of Mondstadt knows Diluc and Kaeya's relationship has been bad since the night of Diluc's eighteenth birthday, when Master Crepus had passed away, but they also share a history; linked together through bonds of the past that neither can quite break, even if they might want to.
A Fatui plot, a dark secret rearing its head once again, and a burning need to protect the alpha Kaeya was still in love with, even after all this time, conspire to force the pair together, and to finally be much more honest with each other than they have been in a long time.
