Opposite sides, I want to see you again

Summary:

Tsukasa grew familiar of the same sight of the stranger, slouching as if attempting to make himself unknown and his constant tinkering of mechanics. He was curious, and curiosity always gets the better of him.

Notes:

sorry the word count is shorter than what I'm use to, but I'm sure the next chapter will be longer ❤️🔥‼️

Chapter 1: Contemplating social interaction

Chapter Text

Ah, it’s him again

He watched as the boy with purple hair sat in the crowded train, opposite to one another. The people chattering drowning in his headspace, his own legs swaying as he noticed the other pulling out some things from his bag. Was it that small robot from the last time he saw him?
The blonde squinted his eyes, trying to peek into the other's bag from afar as he rummaged inside. He could tell his bag was messy from the amount of clutter the other sweeped through to find his materials. Tsukasa was never one to coincide with untidiness, often seeing it as an ugly sight to behold. It irked him whenever he stumbled upon messes of things scattered in places.

But oddly enough, he developed a form of endearment for it when it came to the stranger, believing it as a part of his character and charm. If he were to guess, his workspace was probably as messy as his bag. Creative people had always been the messiest, hadn't they?

His appearance brought him no justice, too. If he were to present himself in a more neat way, he might as well be known for his looks. Though it wasn't like the other was already good-looking enough without effort.

It brought mystery to his aura, Tsukasa was always curious about people, and he had definitely piqued his interest.
He watched with his head tilted when the boy finally pulled out the robot he saw yesterday. It looked so adorable! Tsukasa forced himself not to squeal from delight. The miniature robot had a fluffy shell, resembling a furry cat. He watched in awe as the other flicked a button for the robot to wake.

"Meow~!" The sounds of the robot felt too real, just how a real cat would sound! If Tsukasa was amazed before then now, he was starstruck by the revolution of the bot. He remembered the times when it was just an endoskeleton without a sense of life.. How time flies by quickly!
The boy placed the bot on the empty spot next to him, and it slowly started taking its first steps, though wobbling a little. It was definitely progress. This cat has gone so far to finally achieve its first stage of living! Tsukasa silently praised the mystery boy out of happiness, but the other seemed.. displeased with his creation.

He was confused. If he were to create something just as amazing as that, he would be jumping from joy! Then confusion turned to more confusion when he saw the boy click his tongue in annoyance - wait, why is he dismantling the cute robot!? It looked perfectly fine when he turned it on. Maybe it was something Tsukasa couldn't understand with his intellect with mechanics such as that..

Familiarity had always been known when in the presence of the unfamiliar boy despite not knowing each other. The stranger slouched further into his seat as if attempting to make himself unknown. He observed as the other quietly tinkered with the mini robot with a variety of tools to which he doesn't recognise. The noisy train wasn't enough to stop his concentration, it seemed.

Coincidentally, they always sat opposite from each other, so he always had a clear view of the other. It was as if it were on purpose, but Tsukasa doesn't mind. Watching the other make strange mechanics was enough to pass time in the moving train.

Ever since he saw the boy, it seemed as if he couldn't shake his presence away in the train, no matter how busy the environment, they always ended up finding each other.
"Isn't this how soulmate movies start...?" A-ah.. It's too dangerous to think of.. Heat rushed to Tsukasa's face as he shook his head from the embarrassing thought. His eyes closed, looking down to his lap. People glanced at the overheating boy from his strange behaviour but looked away as quick.

"But.. since we keep on meeting then.. Is it possible?" Tsukasa looked up to stare at the gloomy boy with his heart racing fast.

"I want to be his friend.." He muttered under his breath, his voice swallowed from the noisy train. The blonde's eyes gleamed at the thought. If their constant pairing up was on purpose- then maybe the messy boy wanted the same!
His back straightened, staring at the other with stars in his eyes. Though strangely, the boy didn't seem to notice his intense gaze. Hmm, that's strange. People often take notice of his intensity, whether it'll be aura or voice.

"T-then.. is he ignoring me..? Someone such as me should never be ignored!" His thoughts darkening to something akin to negativity, but his pride was too big to be shattered this easily! He huffed loudly, and if you looked closely, you could see the wind blowing out of his nose.

"How do I get this person's attention.." Tsukasa fiddled with his bag strap as he thought of a plan of approach. Usually, this wouldn't be a hard task for the boy, but with his lack of knowledge as to who the guy was and his depressing face, he couldn't help but hesitate.

"Ah! Maybe if I compliment his robot, then maybe-" Just as Tsukasa perked up from his idea, a small object rolled to his feet. Curious, he bent down from his seat to take a closer look. His eyes widened when he realised it was a small screw, and the only person that would bring objects such as this would be the mystery boy!

He quickly took the object into his hand and looked up, just to see the boy walking to the exit!?

Right, wasn't this his stop? Why did the doors open just as he was about to do the most cliche thing ever!? Gahh!! Curse the world! Tsukasa cursed under his breath as he stood up in a hurry, walking fast to the boy.

"W-wait! You dropped something-" Tsukasa reached his hand out, only for the boy to dissappear in the crowds of people.

"He's gone..." He muttered under his breath, the palm holding the tiny screw clenched against his chest. The door in front closed in slow motion as if taunting him, leaving him with the blank white of the walls and windows to see the busy outside.

Tsukasa puffed his cheeks in defeat, looking down to the floor as he felt the train moving once again. Fate will always have its own ways in the end.

"Tomorrow will do, then." He sighed exasperately, turning around to sit on his seat, only to find it taken!? Gaah!! Curse the world! It truly is against him. He definitely isn't imagining it!

He dragged himself to an available seat, further from his last spot, and finally plopped down with a sigh. Tsukasa hugged his bag, his eyes staring at the moving view from the windows.

Tomorrow will be a better day.
