The Magic Of Technology

Summary:

When Garcia can't provide Reid with a paper copy of the file, Rossi's tablet will have to do.

“What’s this?” Reid looked up, aghast that Garcia would do such a thing to him.

“I’m sorry,” she said, though she didn’t really seem all that sorry. “The printers are down.”

“What?” He questioned with disbelief in his voice. “All of them?”

Nodding, she extended the item to him once again. “At least all the ones on this floor.”

“Then check on other floors!” He squeaked, refusing to touch the wretched thing.

“Reid,” Hotch finally interjected, “we have a case. Garcia doesn’t have time to check every floor. Just take the tablet so we can get on with the briefing.”

Frowning, he accepted the tablet but placed it on the table without looking at it. Rossi rolled his eyes but other than that, Reid’s actions were ignored.

As Garcia moved back up to the screen and started the briefing, Rossi opened his own tablet and scrolled through the file, occasionally zooming in on parts of the text that caught his interest. “Says here she was stabbed twenty-five times,” he said as he easily zoomed back out again and swiped to the visual representation of their victim’s wounds. Next to him, Reid squinted at Rossi’s tablet. Rossi exchanged a hidden smile with Hotch before sliding his tablet a little closer to the young Doctor and zooming in on the picture.

Reid let out a small gasp and gestured to Rossi to zoom in further. Rossi made an effort to show Reid how to zoom in, but the younger man seemed disinterested. He let it go for now.

Reid leaned in closer before suddenly looking up. “It’s Cassiopeia. The constellation that’s otherwise known as the Seated Queen.” He looked back at the tablet and carefully zoomed out just a little, his tongue barely peeking out from between his lips as he did so. “Hey, this is actually pretty useful,” he muttered. Then, bumping his arm against Rossi’s, “Could you go back to the crime scene photos for me? There’s something I’d like to check…”
