Work Text:
The party after Gryffindor’s win at the quidditch game earlier that day was extravagant, to say the least. The whole common room was decked out in red and gold, the furniture pushed to the side to make a bigger dance floor, and an abundance of firewhisky provided by the seventh years. It was a big party, the music was loud and the Gryffindors were sufficiently wasted.
Now, Remus was not one to usually dance. It was pretty well known among the Gryffindors as Sirius and James can be seen quite often trying to get him up to dance with him. No matter how many times he refuses, they always try. At this particular party, though, Remus just seemed to not be able to take his hands off of Sirius, regardless of the fact that that meant he had to dance with them too. Sirius was dressed in her favorite long, flowy skirt, a crop top, and her worn out docs. Remus had done their hair for the party, a braided back style with the bottom half flowing down just past their shoulders. Now though, her hair was sticking to her neck with sweat, other parts falling out of the braid from constantly touching it.
Sirius was elated that Remus was dancing with them. She always feels more relaxed when he’s around, knowing that they were safe, that they could just be herself. And it certainly helped that Remus kept telling them how pretty she looked. She always felt so beautiful when he was around, knowing she was being seen and understood, unconditionally loved.
They had been dating for more than a year now, and Remus never fails to make her feel pretty every day. Even when they’ve been up crying all night in his arms from nightmares, waking up still with red-rimmed eyes, hair a mess, he greets her with a soft smile and a “good morning baby” that expresses just how lovely he thinks she is, and she knows that this is a love to last a lifetime. All the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between.
