Chapter Text
Brown and orange leaves floated through the air as a cool breeze howled through the town. A few people wander through the streets, popping in and out of shops and businesses with coats and jackets tightly wrapped around them to keep the wind from stealing their warmth.
It looks like a scene straight out of Over the Garden Wall, thought Tucker as he waited outside the coffee shop his mom owned. He stood there with two coffees, occasionally greeting people as they passed him till a car finally pulled over in front of him. The small black car’s window lowered to reveal Sam, his best friend, who looked a little more excited than normal.
“Get in Tuck, I want to get to school quickly today!”
“What’s the occasion?” Tucker said as he rushed into the passenger seat and handed Sam one of the coffees in his hand.
“Today is the first day of fall so I want to have some plots dedicated to lavender and parsley!!” Sam exclaimed as she accepted the coffee, ”oat milk, right?”
“Yup!! Vegan, just like you like it,” Tucker said before sipping his coffee, “by the way, I've been feeding weird all morning, so be cautious”.
“Is something bad going to happen?” Sam asks before hitting the gas, sending them flying down the street. "If so, maybe I should also plant some mint".
“I am not sure,” he replied as he grabbed onto the panic bar, “I talked to my mom about it before I left and she said that it sounded like something really important was about to happen”.
“Really?!? Do you know if it is a good or bad thing?” Sam hit the curb hard as she asked.
“Mom said that it could go in either direction”, Tucker grabbed on to the panic bar tighter as he paused, remembering the conversation he had this morning, “but whatever it's like, super duper important”.
“Well that’s not concerning at all” she muttered as she took another sharp turn down Main Street and ran a red light, “I am going to start mass producing protection charms as soon as possible and I'll ask my Grandma for advice too”.
“Good idea, I'll put it in the group chat so I know what's up,” Tucker said before grabbing his PDA and sending a message to the group chat that Sam, him, and the other magical beings that went to Casper High made to tell each other information.

Hey guys I got the feeling
something big is going to
happen today so be careful
No one responded to him before they arrived at school, so he just turned his phone on silent and got out of the car with Sam as she rushed toward the gardening club. Tucker was about to follow her when the strange feeling he had doubled and he quickly grabbed onto the car to stop himself from toppling over. It was over bearing and his danger sensor, which he liked to call his spidey sense, started blaring too. A bunch of other feelings came and started to overwhelm him and he started to get so overstimulated that he thought he might vomit. But as soon as it arrived, it left, leaving him confused about what had just happened.
Somewhere in the middle of that, Sam had gotten back to Tucker's side and sat him down on the pavement and was now rubbing his back, “Yo Tuck, you good?”, she asked as she continued to try to calm him down.
“Yeah, it's just... that the weird feeling increased all of a sudden and some more feelings came to me and I wasn’t prepared, so… but yeah, I am good now” he took several deep breaths to adjust while Sam quickly looked around to see what might have caused it.
“I don’t see anything outside of the usual,” Sam commented as she looked around too, “but I did feel a disturbance of sorts before”.
“Huh, weird,” Tucker said as he pulled himself up, "alright, let's go over to the gardening clubs".
“You sure?” Sam looked at him with concern as she got up with him.
“Yup” he let out a breath to relax himself, “but just increase, let's plant some rosemary and sage too.”

After planting a bunch of rosemary, sage, and mint and Sam making some protection charms, they rushed over to their homeroom so they wouldn't be late to class.
Once they settled down at their desks, not a second before the late bell rang, the weird feelings came back in a more intense way. Ever since Tucker had gotten his psychic abilities when he was 8, he had been able to identify who was among magical creatures in Amity Park, like Dash being a werewolf, Paulina being a mermaid, Mr. Lancer being a mage, and many more. He learned what type of creature they were and had even learned how to tell people apart only by relying on his ability. It also worked with normal humans where he could feel what type of person they were, like if they were dangerous, deceptive, safe, etc. and, of course, he could tell if something was good or bad based on its vibe, whether that was an idea, an action, a person, or whatever.
Which is why this feeling was so alien to him. It felt like an incredibly strong magical creature and a frail human. It felt both dangerous and weak and incredibly distrustful but also trustful, and was swinging between being good or bad, as if it couldn't decide which one. It felt like death and life and in between, like a god and a peasant, it had so much potential yet it had no future, it would give wonderful blessings or horrible crimes. It was overstimulating and the only thing that Tucker could get out of it was that it's luck was extremely bad, so he was incredibly concerned.
“What’s wrong?” Sam whispered.
“I feel something outside the classroom but it has so many conflicting vibes that I can’t identify what it is at all, so stay on guard,” Sam nods her head and straightens up, glancing toward the door and grabbing at the ritual knife she always kept hidden on her. Finally, 5 minutes after the bell rang, Mr. Lancer walked with a coffee and began to talk.
“Okay class, before we start I have two announcements,” Mr. Lancer started, “The first is a reminder to do your community service hours and not leave them for the last minute”.
A chorus snicker resounded through the class. Typically, Tucker would have snickered too, but the strange feeling was starting to grow closer and he was trying his best to keep composed.
“It is not funny!! If you don’t complete them you won't be able to graduate!!” Mr. Lancer yelled at the classroom, “Anyways, I have one more announcement”.
Oh dear, Tucker thought, as the strange feeling felt like it was right outside the door.
“I would like you all to welcome,” anxiety crawled all over Tuckers skin as Mr. Lancer turned toward the door.
“Our new student from Minneapolis”, Mr. Lancer finished as a short brown-haired boy walked in.
Not an eldritch creature
Not a god
Not even a strong looking guy
It was just a normal kid.
“Um, hi, my name is Danny Fenton, nice to meet you”, the boy said with an awkward smile.
What?
