“KYO KANEKO FROM ILUNA AND DOPPIO DROPSCYTHE FROM XSOLEIL ARE RUMORED DATING?”
It was the top headline of all of the whispered talks in both prestigious schools for the not ordinary. How can it not? Iluna institute and Xsoleil institute had been in the same rivalry for decades! Centuries, even! All students, although friendly at some point, are all rivals the moment a competition started. May it be intelligence, debates, or extracurricular activities, if someone needs to win, then Iluna and Xsoleil would be head to head with each other.
But this is different. They are dating. Dating! The rumored talk was accompanied by a simple picture of familiar blue and magenta hair that obviously stands out with other normal people. And by normal people, it means they went out of their way to leave the school premises to be with each other!
Not only that, it was also pretty obvious that the blue-haired guy was holding onto the magenta haired one, and the magenta haired doesn't even mind. He was even reciprocating the touch and it's almost like holding hands!
That was way too intimate for just friends, a lot of people would say. And in this modern era of Gen Z kids (even if most students from both schools definitely exceed the age of eighteen), two men dating is definitely not surprising anymore. It is already what could be considered as normal, slowly making its way too to traditionalists.
The most important question is... are they, really?

Kyo scrolled through twitter as he sipped on his box of juice. Something that the Iluna confession page on the app caught his interest and before he knew it, he's been reading all the replies and quote retweets, and even making sure he's using his alt account.
The rumor doesn't really affect him that much. It was so funny that he burst out laughing the moment he saw it the first time. To be perfectly clear, Kyo just wanted to buy a new keyboard and some parts of his PC that looked a little worn out and he asked Doppio to accompany him since they're already playing league together at that time.
Turns out, he underestimated the sun and he got so dizzy from the heat that he had to lean on Doppio. Thankfully, the guy was willing to bring him in the nearest shade and even bought him a cold drink.
What he didn't know was that they were being photographed by "paparazzis".
Kyo doesn't mind at all. He got to buy whatever he needs that day and the rumor does not hurt him or anyone else. And besides, Doppio would've done something about it too if it bothers him. As long as they are not stepping on anyone—
“KYO!” The classroom door slammed open and Scarle rushed to him to shove her phone at his face, “What's the meaning of this?!”
Oh, great. It reached Scarle. That's just fun.
“Sis, distance your phone away from me. I literally can't see what you're showing me.” Kyo can't see it but he is a hundred percent sure it's the Iluna confession page post.
“You're dating Dopi?!” Scarle frowned at him, “I didn't raise you to be like this, young man! Wha- You should've consulted me first! You're still my baby brother!”
Nothing could have stopped Kyo being cradled by Scarle as she cries her sorrow about her baby brother going off to marry. Super far off from the rumor but whatever makes her sleep at night.
“YOU'RE WHAT?”
And here comes another problem. Ren Zotto who just entered the classroom, probably to just come around and hang out with Kyo since it's their break time, but was then slapped by the revelation about a certain popular rumor going around.
Kyo was able to count to five before he got another reaction from Ren. “Kyo! You're what?!”
“Keep it down.” Kyo rolled his eyes and patted Scarle's arms around him. His sister reluctantly lets go of him, although still fake sobbing and wiping imaginary tears on her eyes. “I don't have any idea who spread that shit around but I don't care, okay? Think whatever you want.”
He huffed and stood up, throwing the juice box in a nearby trash can, “And stop crying like I'm gonna disappear, Scarle.”
“I can't help it! Kyo… my little brother… dating…” The more she mumbled words, the louder her sobs became and at this point, Kyo wouldn't question his sister anymore on why she is like this.
“So, you are…” Ren blinked and started fidgeting on his fingertips, “...Are you and Dopi really…?”
At that moment, Kyo realized how much he liked the expression on Ren's face right at that moment. He looked so tense and his eyes were really close to crying, but there was the determined and positive look Ren always has. And for a second, Kyo got curious on what kind of face he will make more. He's not a sadist. God, no. He is just a little curious. Like, like a little curiosity. A pinch of some curiosity.
He didn't mean for that rumor to go this far, nor did he think of playing along this long. But, a little tease won't hurt, right?
With that thought, Kyo grinned and looked up at Ren, “What do you think?”

On the other hand, Doppio sits in wonder as Meloco and Kotoka whisper to each other with wide eyes in front of him. Sometimes their eyes will find its way to glance at Doppio, but like it was a sin to look at him, they turn away and whisper some more.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with this. The scene has always been like this for the two girls sometimes and unfortunately, the attention is either on him or their president. Not that he minds but… their reactions right now are kind of… excessive than normal?
Thankfully, the door of the student council opened and entered Ver with a sleepy Hex following him, “Oh, everyone is already here. Great. I thought I had to wait for hours again for all of you to gather here.”
Hex yawned, “Good morning.”
Doppio raised his hands and beamed, “Good morning, Hexxy!”
Ver chuckled, “It's afternoon, both of you. But oh well,”
Their president walked over towards his own desks and started checking the documents, probably the ones needed for today's meeting. It was silent for a few seconds, with Hex still dozing off with sleepiness, Doppio playing a game on his phone and Ver finding a document that is needed for today's meeting.
And then Kotoka screamed.
“I can't hold it in anymore!” She stood up, making everyone look at her surprised, then she pointed her accusing finger at Doppio, “Are you going out with Kyo?!”
A pen breaks. Meloco hid her face with her hands. And Hex is now fully awake.
Doppio blinked in surprise, pointing at himself, “...Me?”
“Yes! You!!” Kotoka unlocked her phone and showed everyone a twitter post that she and Meloco were probably looking at earlier. “Someone saw you and Kyo out together the other day!” Everyone looked at Kotoka's phone showing the way the very familiar Kyo Kaneko is leaning against Doppio in the picture.
Oh. Doppio's head made a clicking sound. So that's what they mean when going out! Well, if that's the case, “Yeah! We did that!” He beamed. It was sad that Kyo almost fainted from the heat but alas! Doppio was there to save the day!
There was a loud sound from the main desk and everyone switched their attention from Doppio to Ver who just slammed his head on the table.
“Kaichou?!”
Kotoka immediately ran to his side and checked his head. Ver only rubs his forehead with an apologetic smile, “I'm fine, Koto. I was just, uhm, I slipped! You know, it happens.” He laughed warily and side glanced at Doppio. “And uh, Dopi, can you repeat what you just said? I didn't quite hear it the first time.”
“Eh?” Doppio tilted his head to the side. That's weird, Ver usually has sharp ears especially when he's saying things like skipping student council meetings. Oh well, they all have bad days. “You mean, going out with Kyo? We did it the other day!”
It took Ver not to faint again in surprise as Hex slowly patted a very confused Doppio's head.

D_Dropscythe: Sure!!! I don't mind!! Where do we meet up?
KyoKanek0: Nah. Just go straight to the iluna first year dorm. I'll tell the guard a friend is visiting.
D_Dropscythe: ALRIGHT!!! I gotchu kyo
KyoKanek0: Yeah, yeah. Thx Dopi.

It was not in Ren's schedule to go to the first year dorm after his last class period for today. But here he is, smiling and waving at every freshman who greets him and calls him senpai. It's not that rare to see him around the dorm, especially since Kyo's room is where he and Aster hang out despite the younger's blatant annoyance. But that's with Aster!
Today, he's going to Kyo's room alone.
To hang out, of course. What else?
The guard knows him since he's with Kyo most of the time and he begged the guard one time to lift the "Ren Zotto ban" from Kyo's room. The staff already knows him too, and other first years familiarized with him already! And— is that Doppio Dropscythe?
“I'm visiting Kyo Kaneko!” He beamed to the guard and the latter laughed.
“Kyo said someone in another school would be visiting. I assume it's you? His room is on the second floor, 209.”
“Right! Thank you very much!”
Ren was hiding beside the doors before he could even think. Wait. Why is Doppio here? Why is he visiting Kyo? Were they really dating? There's no way! Kyo would never! And why is he even hiding? He knows Kyo even longer than him! At the very least, Doppio should be the one intimidated by him! Not the other way around— is that-
“Ver?” Ren called out in confusion, and truth to be told, the two floating branches from the bush twitched and moved. Slowly, the branches raised up and it was revealed it was being held up by none other than Ver Vermillion.
“That's a bad disguise.” was the only thing Ren could say in the situation.
Ver dropped the branches and pointed at him, “You're one to talk! Why are you here?!”
“What do you mean?! I'm an Iluna student! Why are YOU here?!” Ren yelled back, frowning.
“A-Ah, well… student council matters!”
“That doesn't even make sense!”
“Yes it does!”
Soon enough, the guard screamed at them to bring their fight somewhere else. The two third years went home defeated but with new determination to find out what is going on and be the cause of a relationship break up in the near future.

“Oh yeah Kyo, why are Iluna students looking at me weirdly?”
“Haven't you seen twitter? There's a lot of rumors around.”
“The one that Kotoka showed me? What's wrong with it?”
“They said we're going out, stupid.”
“Didn't we actually go out? To buy PC stuff?”
“...Doppio, are you joking?”
“Why would I be joking?”
“Oh my God.”
“Wait… Oh god. Wait wait! To be fair! They didn't word it out correctly!”
“Did you even read it?”
“Well…”
“You will have a lot of explaining to do later.”
“Noooo, Kyo. Help meeee.”
