Slow day, and your comforting warmth

Summary:

"You're not going to work today?"

"I made a quick trip to the Akademiya earlier and told them to bring any papers to my house. Low spoons day." Al Haitham explains, and Kaveh nods. "Flare up?"

"Probably. Yesterday night was colder than usual, but I didn't think much of it. And so my bones decided to take revenge."

____

Kaveh has a flare up, and Al Haitham needs a break.
Fortunately, they're each others comfort, so recovering won't be complicated.

Notes:

THIS IS LIKE. 100% PROJECTION I CAN'T EVEN HIDE IT
Hope it's a nice flavor of projection though

This is my transfem chronically ill adhd Kaveh agenda. It might not be explicitly stated but it's always gonna be there.

Work Text:

Kaveh wakes up. The soft light of the day fills his eyes, and the first things he can register are: Al Haitham looks really pretty reading, the light behind him makes his partner look angelic. Majestic, even. And, that her body feels very uncomfortable.
She scoots closer to Al Haitham, reaching for one of his hands and placing it on her face, curling up close to him for warmth, and soon losing the battle against exhaustion.

The next time Kaveh opens his eyes, she still sees Al Haitham in bed, this time lying beside him. She feels a heavier weight on top of her, and shifts a little, trying to understand what's happening, drawing his partner's attention.

"You're awake. Good morning again."

"How long was I asleep?" She blinks slowly a few times and lets out a yawn.

"About three hours."

"You're not going to work today?"

"I made a quick trip to the Akademiya earlier and told them to bring any papers to our house. Low spoons day." Al Haitham explains, and Kaveh nods. "Flare up?"

"Probably. Yesterday night was colder than usual, but I didn't think much of it. And so my bones have decided to take revenge."

Al Haitham shifts closer to Kaveh, and holds her carefully. One of his hands travels to Kaveh's hair, running his fingertips through the blonde strands carefully.
"You whimpered in your sleep earlier. I grabbed an extra blanket so you'd be warmer. Is it better?"

Kaveh nods and puts her hand on top of Haitham's, pressing a kiss to his palm gently.
"It is, my love. Thank you."

They shift positions, this time with Al Haitham resting his head on Kaveh's chest, being hugged closely. The scribe could argue that his girlfriend is much better than any weighted blanket.
Kaveh is happy having her hands hidden in Haitham's hair and body. They keep each other warm and comfortable like that for a nice while.

Kaveh dozes off again at some point, and Al Haitham decides to try following her footsteps.
It's silent, comfortable, warm, and he can feel his princess' arms around him, pulling him closer. Her breath on his hair, and the nice smell of her soap still lingering.

Oh, he's so in love with Kaveh.
So in love with little moments like these, with the mutual care and nearly palpable affection.

Al Haitham dozes off as well, playing with Kaveh's shirt between his fingertips.

___

When they wake up again, Kaveh nearly regrets falling asleep.

"Oh, archons, I'm hungry. Haitham, Haitham, let's get up?"

"Can you get up?"

"That's… A great question." Kaveh sits up, and immediately frowns at the thought of having to leave that warm bed.

"Though so. Write down the order for me in those cards you do with your pretty handwriting, I'll go out to buy us some food."

Kaveh smiles, and grabs her clipboard from the bedside table, writing down their orders with ‘her pretty handwriting’, while Haitham gets ready. Kaveh eyes his noise canceling headphones and the discreet stim toy he's holding.
"Good. Don't stop caring for yourself."

"Apply that advice to yourself as well, will you?" Al Haitham touches Kaveh's nose with his pointer, getting the cards from her hand and leaning down for a kiss. "Come on, I need to charge at least a little bit."

Kaveh chuckles, and pecks his lips a few times, finishing with a proper kiss. "What an interesting battery mechanism, mister scribe."

"Fit for the Light of Kshahrewar to figure it out, don't you think?" He teases before leaving, with a smile.

Kaveh decides to get up, just 'real quick', she tells herself. Putting on his warmest slippers and bringing with him one of Al Haitham's coats, Kaveh boils some water and picks out some tea flavors, bringing the two hot (matching, by the way) mugs back to their room to cool down while she waits (and warms up again before her bones can torture him again).

Soon, Al Haitham is back with a bag. Their orders are in it, and Kaveh can just smell the rice and meat combination, with soft spices from where he is.
As well as Al Haitham can smell their teas.

"Oh, thank you. What is it?" He sits at the edge of the bed, and hands the bag to Kaveh.

"Peach tea. Your favorite." Kaveh smiles, grabbing one of the packed bowls eagerly and opening it with a smile. Biryani for herself, and Pita Pocket for Al Haitham.

"I'll get you silverware." He moves to get up, but notices something before he can do it. "Is that my coat?"

"Had to stay warm, and what could possibly be better than your warmth?" Kaveh flirts , and Al Haitham falls for it, as he does every time. He lets out a breathy chuckle (accompanied by a slight blush), and finally gets up for that silverware, coming back soon and lying back under the covers with his lover.

The next few minutes are filled with comfortable silence as they both enjoy their meals. Once finished, Al Haitham enjoys his tea, while Kaveh simply holds the warm mug in her hands with her eyes closed, leaning back against the headboard.

“Was the outside world kind to you today?” Kaveh breaks the silence, and finally takes a sip of her own tea, cinnamon flavor.

“It was decent. No one tried talking to me outside of the necessary, and even the meal - money exchange went silently and smoothly.”

Kaveh nods and they keep drinking their teas.

Al Haitham finishes first and grabs one of his favorite books, sitting back close to Kaveh so he can show her the notes he took last time reading it. On days like this, when he’s not finishing the work sent to him, Al Haitham likes re-analyzing books. Seeing what’s changed in his perspective and interpretation, and leaving notes for his future self to discuss with. He plays with Kaveh’s fingers and nails sometimes, the feeling of her hand comforting.

Kaveh, however, spends the day switching between quick naps and small doodles of any inspiration she gets before she can forget it. She falls asleep to the sound of Al Haitham’s voice more times than they can keep track of it, and wakes up to shifts in position, her pencil falling from her hand, or the random urge to ask for Haitham’s attention.

It’s a slow day. A not-so-perfect day for the both of them. But it’s okay. Being in each other’s presence makes it bearable, and being cared for and caring about each other makes them both feel better.
In the comfort of their home, in the warmth of each others’ hearts.
