Work Text:
It was dark the night he slipped out of the castle.
Alya.
Hs hoped, hoped, no one had seen him leave his room. Sneak down the hallway to the lower levels.
Alya.
When he had opened her door she had screamed, the lullaby he sung the only thing preventing her from waking everyone from their sleep.
Alya.
Breaking the window and letting himself down with a makeshift rope, was difficult. Especially when not only his own safety was on the line.
Alya.
The alleys around the palace were dark, but certainly not as dangerous as the ones further away.
Alya.
Softly humming a lullaby under his breath, as he ran through the capital. If only he could reach the walls.
Alya.
If only he would stand in front of the gates at dawn, he would be out. Safe and far away from the people waking from their slumber.
Alya.
The guards at the gate didn't look at the man trying to sneak out. A bundle of sleeping life in his arms, protected from the waking world.
"Wait."
He froze in his steps, almost he had almost made it. The fright has made him stop humming and his sister began to stir in her sleep.
"Aren't you Nabil? What are you doing here?"
The lullaby had slipped from his mind, the words he should say unable to come forth in his mind.
A cry shattered the silence, his sister would wake up.
"No, I'm Hiram. You must be thinking of someone else."
Alya.
He slipped out of the gate and disappeared in the dark.
Alya.
He would make sure she would never have to wake up like he had.
Alya
For her, he would be Hiram.
Alya
For his sister Alya.
