    "You're mine"—that was what Shiki had said. That was what Shiki had told him when Akira asked if he was going to kill him; if he intended to end the other half of this cursed blood once and for all.

    In the tunnel, shrouded in deep darkness, Shiki's eyes had almost seemed to glow red when he looked back at Akira. His hand was still gripping Akira's arm tightly. The heat from Shiki's hand was all Akira felt in the dim, drafty tunnel. Maybe it'd been Akira's imagination at the time, his eyes playing tricks on him, trying to make up for the lack of vision in the dark. But it had always felt like Shiki's eyes were their own source of light. Crimson with unbridled determination, and bright with purpose.
