Work Text:

The sun sat over the hills to the East of Star City. The firery glow radiating over the sky. Beneath, the city was a buzz, as any city is. The City of Heros. So many heroes called Star City home. The Flash, Green Arrow, but most importantly, Stargirl.

"Wow. I can't believe they named the city after you, Court." A voice laughed from under a tree.

Ok, maybe Green Arrow has some importance to the story too.

On the outskirts of the city, on top of a hill, and under a tree, sat two figures, two weapons, and a stocked quiver. Two girls, roughly the same age. On the left of the tree sat a blonde in a star spangled spandex suit cuddled into the side of her raven haired friend.

"Yeah. Yeah exactly Emiko. That's definitely what happened."

"Yeah! Greatest heroine in Star City."

Courtney had to laugh. She and Emiko had been best friends for all of a few months now. But that hadn't stopped it from feeling like an old friendship. It was nice to have a friend that understood what being a hero meant. Someone she could talk to without worrying about exposing them to harm. And also just be stupid with.

Courtney smiled, laying next to Emiko, resting her head on the other girl. She wasn't the greatest heroine in Star City she knew that. But Emiko sure liked to hype her up sometimes. It felt good getting these complements. Not that her parents ignored her, far from it, but coming from Emiko, coming from someone her own age. That was different.

They lay for a while, watching the sun set. They had been patrolling earlier that day, and it's not like Star City was Gotham. They could afford to just be teens for a while, even if they didn't know for how long.

"Who's your celebrity crush?" Emiko asked the blonde, shifting slightly under the tree.

Courtney hmmed and thought. She didn't really have one. The whole sexuality thing had been... Weird lately. She'd kinda been avoiding thinking about it much at all. "Ryan Reynolds"

Emiko nodded. Buffering a second. "Black Canery."

Courtney blinked. "Dianah?"

Emiko fidgetted. "Yeah.."

Courtney turned her face to look at Emiko, "You.. like girls?"

Emiko looked at her friend cuddled into her side. Moving some hair out of her face. "Yeah. I do."

It then dawned on Courtney how romantic this all was. How picture perfect every part of this situation was for two girlfriends... The sunset lit Emiko's face like Courtney had never really seen it before, the firery glow suited her so well. She looked so... Everything in this lighting. Courtney just lay there a bit, staring at her. Her eyes, her skin, her nose. Everything.

Staring at her, all Courtney could think was how this answered her question. This was the answer.

"Can I change my answer..?"

Emiko stared down at her, looking pensive as she nodded. "Yeah. Go for it Court."

She straightened out, lifting her head up to Emiko's level. Staring her in the eyes. Screw it, this already had been so romantic. Why not throw caution to the wind and throw it all in. She leant in slowly towards the other girl, watching Emiko's lips spread to a smile till just before their lips touched. Courtney let out one, small, but so important final syllable.

"You."

Notes:

I had the brain rot. This ain't like CasSteph, I know there's no basis for this in canon lol. I just wanted to write this.
