YOU HEARD ME!! so im in a Cornley fan(?) discord server and for the past week-ish there’s been a rumor going around from reasonably reliable sources that they’re planning to get their Peter Pan onto bway. make of this what you will

First of all I am intrigued but more importantly how do I get into this Cornley fan group??

dear-andre:

TY!!

Is there any actual evidence for this? Because there’s no way they would try that IMO. At least not after Murder at Haversham Manor. I just genuinely don’t think there’s any coming back from that.

mainelymaine222:

Yeah this smells of BS to me. Where do these people even get the money to put on shows at this point?

jessness:
posted 1/3/23 at 9:46 AM

so im from the uk and they do stuff on the BBC all the time because no joke the nephew of one of the BBC’s top executives or whatever is max bennet of cornley fame (infamy?)

lilacx907:

Wait I’m from the UK too and I didn’t know this omg that explains the Play of the Week

jessness:

NO LIKE it all made sense when i found that out lmaoo

dear-andre:
posted 1/3/23 at 9:51 AM

in response to Val yeah there’s not any legit evidence atm but the contacts on the server have always been right about Cornley-related things sooo

Oh this is JUICY. I really really hope it’s true. I will be more excited for this than Sweeney Todd.

mainleymaine22:

Honestly it just pisses me off more than anything that these people keep booking theatres when there are so many actually good shows and talented people that should have that chance.

lilacx907:

I might feel the same if I hadn’t seen their Haversham Manor back in like 2016. Oh my God, that show was possibly the most entertaining night I have ever had at the theatre. If they’re doing Peter Pan in NYC I will actually fly out to see it and I will be disappointed if it isn’t as brilliantly, horrifically terrible as MAHM was.

valoftheopera:

I saw MAHM in NYC with my husband! Fun story – we thought we had bought tickets for Hamilton but the box office screwed it up somehow. We were going to give the tickets to someone else but I’m so glad we didn’t. It was the worst disaster I have ever seen, and I saw Spider-Man: TOTD. In previews. I’m one of those people who likes so-bad-it’s-good stuff, so it was a great time for me, but I can’t imagine them being insane enough to try Broadway again.

lilacx907:

I think I heard about that Hamilton mix-up, oh my goodness! Honestly though if anyone’s insane enough to try Bway again after that mess it’s Cornley.

dear-andre:

“if anyone’s insane enough to try Bway again after that mess it’s Cornley” TRUTH

jessness:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:25 AM

im so jealous of everyone who got to see MAHM omg

leahluvsbway:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:25 AM

Same here. Just how bad was it?? I can’t get enough of Cornley stories. It’s like those YouTube compilations of terrible high school productions except on Broadway. We need like a whole thread just for Cornley stories.

valoftheopera:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:31 AM

When I saw MAHM the lead actress got knocked unconscious twice, so pretty bad.

dear-andre:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:33 AM

okay you need to join the Cornley discord too because i think somebody has a bootleg of that EXACT night (unless this happened multiple times and ngl i wouldn’t put it past them)

valoftheopera:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:34 AM

This is it. The beginning of my life of crime.

leahluvsbway:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:34 AM

Can I be your accomplice?! I have to see this!

valoftheopera:
posted 1/23/23 at 10:35

Lol yes!!

dear-andre:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:36 AM

plot twist this was my way of promoting the Cornley discord the whole time

lilacx09:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:40 AM

Back to the main topic - did anybody see Peter Pan when it was in London?

jessness:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:43 AM

no but i did see the BBC broadcast which was brilliant

lilacx09:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:45 AM

OH YEAH!! I only ever saw clips of that. David Suchet was trying so hard to salvage it. Did anyone warn the audience what they were getting into? I don’t think the general demographic of BBC studio audiences would know about Cornley in advance.

jessness:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:46 AM

half the crowd probably came out of it thinking it was meant to be a comedy

leahluvsbway:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:55 AM

On that note, does anyone actually know for sure that it isn’t? Like, are we sure Cornley is serious? Sometimes I have a hard time believing it’s not just a really, really genius parody.

dear-andre:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:56 AM

oh, it’s real alright. unless they’re incredibly dedicated to characters, because – here’s my big reveal moment – I HAVE MET ONE OF THEM.

joshhh02:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:56 AM

I JUST WOKE UP WHAT HAVE I MISSED??

mainleymaine22:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:56 AM

Just a bunch of rumors. No actual news I don’t think (no offense to OP).

jessness:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:56 AM

“I HAVE MET ONE OF THEM” EXCUSE ME WHAT

lilacx09:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:57 AM

YOU CAN’T SAY THAT AND DISAPPEAR!

dear-andre:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:57 AM

OKAY OKAY IF I’M GOING TO TELL THIS STORY MAYBE WE SHOULD MOVE TO DISCORD this is a longgg one

valoftheopera:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:58 AM

Wait for me!! I don’t have Discord let me make an account lol

lilacx09:
posted 1/3/23 at 10:59 AM

I just made an account lol it’s pretty easy

leahluvsbway:
posted 1/3/23 at 11:00 AM

This is possibly the most fun I’ve had on a theatre message board since Spider-Man happened. I might actually cry if it turns out to be fake.
