“M-Miss Miorine, Miss Miorine!” Suletta was almost shouting, while she ran towards her now ex-bride. She looked distressed. “I'm really sorry, please don’t go yet!”
“Huh?” Miorine was caught putting on one of her earrings while looking at the mirror. She turned around to see her ex-groom completely exhausted, and she wondered if she had been running since she left their room, which was quite far in the complex. But the only thing she could look at was at how gorgeous she was: She was wearing a black dress, and she had let her red, long, curly hair down. She asked, worried still for her. ”What’s wrong Suletta? What happened, are you alright?”
“T-The ring, I think I-I think I lost it and…” Suletta was on the verge of crying, tears dwelling on her eyes, “I’m really really sorry Miss Miorine, please don’t get mad at me, please-” She was sure she had just ruined the most important day of both her and her bride’s lives forever, and all because of her clumsiness. That was until she looked up at Miorine’s face, who seemed to be holding back the urge to start laughing, but not in a mean spirited way. She seemed to be looking at her in a sort of nostalgic and endearing way, as if remembering a distant memory.
That’s when Miorine gently grabbed Suletta by one of her shoulders, extended her right arm and opened her palm to reveal it: Suletta’s engagement ring. She was already wearing hers on her left hand, which was resting on the naked shoulder of her soon-to-be-wife. “I got it from our room this morning, just after you went to welcome Chuchu and the rest of the guests. Did you really forget it?
“In our room? But what was it doing in our room? I don’t remember…” That was when Suletta remembered why she didn’t have her ring. It was all because of what they did last night that she had taken it out and had left it on the nightstand, right beside their bed. Suletta was starting to get flustered, her face getting as red as a ripe tomato. Miorine couldn’t contain it any longer and spit out a soft chuckle at the sight of her red-faced groom. When she stopped laughing, she decided to grab Suletta’s left hand while she was still blushing, and put the ring on her left ring finger.
Suletta went back to being herself once again and, when she came to her senses, she could only have eyes for her bride. Miorine was wearing a very long white dress, full of details and decorations, which contrasted with the simple black dress she was wearing. Her beautiful white hair, gathered into a bun, matched with the dress, and the red of her lip gloss made for a striking image that left her paralyzed.
Miorine then looked up, her gazes crossing, as if this was the first time they did. She hadn’t noticed Suletta’s black eyeliner, which was unusual for her. She was, after all, used to her groom not wearing any makeup whatsoever. The black only accentuated the deep blue within her eyes and the copper tone of her skin.
Suletta, as if possessed by a more powerful entity than her, grabbed Miorine’s right hand, pulling her closer. She was lost in Miorine’s gray, stormy eyes, and the purple eyeshadow she was wearing just made her want to embrace her stronger than ever before. This wasn’t the first time she’d seen her wearing that makeup… and still she would like to get lost in her and embrace her, right then and there. She started to unconsciously get closer to Miorine’s face, and her bride followed suit. And, after a moment that seemed to last a lifetime, their lips reached contact with each other. Suletta remembered the first time they had kissed, all that time ago, when their circumstances were completely different, and Miorine thought the same. It was like their minds were somehow connected, not by a machine but by a superior will, by their own volition. By love.
They wished for this moment to last forever, and in their minds and hearts it will. But, in the real world, a certain someone had decided to, unwillingly, interrupt them.
“Hey, what are you two doing?” Chuchu interrupted the moment without any care and consideration whatsoever, as usual. “You are both going to miss your own we-” That’s when she looked and noticed the two of them, full on kissing and making out. “Wow hey! I’m sorry for interrupting you two love doves, but you have a wedding to attend and we are fifteen minutes behind the schedule!”
“Fifteen minutes!?” Miorine stopped embracing Suletta with hesitation and looked at Chuchu with surprise printed all over her face. She wondered how much of the fifteen minutes was spent on them just kissing. “They are going to be so pissed off… Ok, tell them we will be there in no time, I’m sorry.”
“Fiiiine, I’ll tell them you got distracted .” Chuchu responded, with a mischievous grin on her face, while disappearing through the curtains.
“Well, this is it. Are you aware of what we are about to do?” Miorine asked her groom, who responded almost immediately.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my whole life, Miss Miorine.” Suletta said, with a dumb smile on her face, while looking at her bride.
Miorine sighed. “I already told you a long time ago to stop calling me Miss Miorine. You are my wife after all, aren’t you?”
Suletta chuckled, Miorine alongside her. Maybe it was because of what was about to happen, or maybe it was because she just couldn’t believe they were right there and then, but it had been a long time since she stopped calling her bride Miss Miorine. And she responded. “You are right. I’m sorry… Mio Mio. I love you.”
“I love you too, Suletta Mercury.” She looked at her wristwatch. They were really late. “Shall we proceed then, my wife?”
“Hm” Suletta nodded. Miorine grabbed her by the arm and, together, crossed the curtains and walked into the light, where everyone was waiting for them.
